    That brown turned out great! You should seal with a varnish and then do a dark wash to get all those crevices. It'll protect all your hard work too. I appreciate how basic this video is. No advanced techniques or tools required. It's refreshing.

    You have great artistry Chris (as well as amazing practical/engineering/design skills)… the paint jobs really bring the shells to life… and the different techniques each give distinct looks that are customisable to suit personal choice. Another fantastic video (and you still have the most relaxing voice of any RUclipsr 😊).

    I love your videos as they are very entertaining and informative. And unlike most videos you don't feel the need to give us your life story and blah on about totally unrelated things. I think your texturing techniques here are great, how on earth did you even come up with those ideas? I think they can be easily adapted for use on other projects. Keep on making your videos, I enjoy watching every one of them. Thank you, have a nice day.

      Thanks for the super encouraging comment, and yep, I do try to keep it to the point. Sadly, the RUclips algorithm rewards those who make longer videos, so often they get dragged out just for that reason. Have an amazing day:)

    I, for one, would absolutely love to see the front plate as well. I immediately bought the pattern for the shells. I just want one for my wall...and maybe my son....and wife.
    Either way, I'm going to buy the foam today. I love this channel. You go into so much detail and make the creation of these seem possible for regular folks. As you go on, the end products just get better and better.

    • @sabrepinkt
      @sabrepinkt Год назад

      @LostWax I have two canvas straps set up like backpack straps. There is an orange band on the bottom of the shell that can stabilize the shell around the waist, but the back of the shell is not concave, so having the band on causes discomfort. Not using the band works better while losing some stability. It also pushes the bottom border back when she sits, causing damage.

    • @LostWax
      @LostWax  Год назад

      @@sabrepinkt Hmm, thanks for that! Are you saying the concave-ness of the shell makes it uncomfortable- or that is not concave ie flat. It's good if I can figure out what not to do before I spend a bunch of time on it:)

    • @sabrepinkt
      @sabrepinkt Год назад

      @LostWax the back is flat. I think I should have built a pad into the bottom or reduced the measurements. I can message some pics of it if you would want.

    Would it be possible to draw the pattern on the shell, then take your knife and follow the pattern making a VERY shallow continuous line. Then hit it with the heat gun?

    • @LostWax
      @LostWax  Год назад

      Yep, that would work, though you'll still have the seam lines showing where you glued the 4 pieces together, as well as the shell being kinda floppy without the reinforcement of the plates on top.
