Film based on a classic Japanese novel. Little things like the food dialogues, the falling snow, the dark rainy nights; and the slow, soft, seducing music pull you into each scene with a sweet calmness. Even the acupuncture deaths, like child's finger poking butter, are tranquil. If only Baisan could've spent time with the beautiful but wicked sister after the revelation, it would've been a form of dramatic justice to my liking.
Very good film, beautiful picture and well chosen cast. Baian, the doctor healing the sick during the day and punishing the baddies by simply killing them. What a contrast! I loved Hikojiro, the other contractor, and his sense of justice. Very good story with them discovering more and more as time passes. Very grateful for this upload! I will watch it again with my daughter!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐:)

Got through the whole of the last Don, good. Then watched half of mission impossible, the same old theme. Then this, what a delight and joy. Having found his sister and releasing her from her cage..the bird symbol I assume.
