Apple needs to fix this. They should make a AirPods app and let us adjust settings on them and do updates like the Apple Watch

If you are confused, like I was ... leave the case closed, yes it will disconnect, but yes your Airpods will still get updated!

You have to plug them in and keep the case open with the airpods in the case. That will work much faster.
I try that but the AirPods keep getting disconnected. Even while the lid is open

Guys! I just updated this shiet. Do like this, it should work!
1. Make sure you’re on wifi and bluetooth is turned on, on your iPhone
2. Open the lid and take out the pods
3. Close the lid
4. Open lid and put in the pods in
5. Close the lid
6. Put the charger in the case
7. Place the case beside your phone
8. Open the lid and KEEP IT OPEN
9. Swipe down on the battery status that pops up when you open the lid
10. Leave the iPhone right beside. And it should update now!
P.S. I did it with a almost fully charged iPhone and did it overnight so dont know how long it took. But it is updated now!

Dude I have tried what they do in the videos but didn’t work because as soon as I close the lid it disconnects but I saw your comment and thought why not give it a go and it worked! it took about 30 minutes thanks dude

This is helpful. Girlfriend had an issue recently with the AirPods 2 where it would not connect the left pod. All of the repairing tips and tricks did not help. Just left them plugged in overnight and did a reset and start from scratch and got them going. I had this same issue with mine several months back. Seems like time was a factor. Weird.
Mine's updated without me knowing. But it's always nice learning something new. Been watching some of your videos and I love how you put so much thought into each of them. You narrate calmly and clear. Keep on making more videos 😉
As a last step in addition to whats shown here, please close the lid after 10 minutes with the earphones in it so that it can actually update the firmware that it downloaded in previous step. So the next time you open the lid, it will show the updated firmware. I had kept the lid open for a long time, still no update, then I realised, it cannot apply firmware while its connected to iPhone so closed the lid and boom, its done.

Wow, I didn’t even know this was a thing. I was having connectivity issues with my AirPod 2’s but now I’m going to do it with my new Pro’s and my older ones I gave to a family member so maybe they won’t have that issue.
Ditto. No idea this was a thing. APP usually sit next to iPad, so guess they’re always updated. We’ll have to search for where you can find the latest version’s number though.

As you close the casr it is “not connected” but okay. 30 minutes for update. I am still having problems connecting airpods to Imac though.
The ANC is much improved with this latest AirPods Pro update. The transparency mode, however, seems not as clear. But these are so much better than the original AirPods. They fit well and are comfortable for hours long use.

That’s how it is with any airpods. If the case closes they disconnect all the time. You have to leave it open

The way to update the AirPods 2 / Pro is illogical, the time it recognizes that it can be updated depends on factors that we don't know. It can be 15 minutes, leaving them charging and untouched, or it can happen in two (2) days if you are lucky. However, thank you very much for your video, it has been quite instructive.

@@tieraaxo this was over a year ago so , not sure if a lot of changes happened. You’re just supposed to naturally connect your AirPods to your iPhone, then put them back in their case and CLOSE the lid. Keep them on the charger and next to each other, it should update by itself. Unfortunately, it’s just random if it happens. But No, close the lid don’t keep it open.
I tried that & couldn’t do it that way the easy way was to connect the air pods directly to my iPad Pro via USB-C To lightening It was as easy as that they updated in a few minutes Brilliant!
You have to reset the AirPods (Pro) by holding down the button on the back for 15 seconds (you will see and orange light, keep holding til the light turns off) and then it will update.
They get disconnected when u close them

I LOVE THE AIRPODS. I work upstairs, I never have a problem with interference as crazy as it sounds! When they beep, I put them in the charger for 15 mins tops, then run down after making a few(coughs*5star like meals) and then I grab them and finish the last 5 hours of my shift no prob! Love these! The studio 3 are honestly the same things just headphones!
I just found my AirPods case after about 6 months, when they were still lost, I found out that you could update them! This really helped

Hey Aaron, I am facing issue with my Airpods 2, as shown in your video I checked my firmware version it’s up to date. But I will definitely try what you have shown. This is my second set of AirPods...my 1st set stopped working after 1.5 yrs & this current AirPods 2 has started giving trouble after 1.1yrs (right one is not connecting to any device).... I am really upset with their longevity....let’s hope your this video helps me. Thanks a ton anyways because I watch your videos almost everyday.
They don’t stay connected when the case is closed. I’m guessing being connected is not necessary because mine have updated in the past not connected

It would be more handy if all the apple accessories updates displays on the system updates section of the iphone when we connect them. So that whenever there’s a new update announced it would be display automatically when connected in the updates section.
I hope this help basically i thought i had lost my left airpod but ive just now found it has the old firmware on it and the right airpod has the new firmware on it so they wont pair together so im attempting to update the left airpod

I need help... my Powerbeats pro have been having a plethora of issues and it’s getting extremely annoying at this point. Issue 1: sometimes one of the 2 headphones won’t connect, issue 2: audio lags or stutters causing an effect of sound making it seem like the headphones are very violently cutting in and out. Issue 3: headphones won’t charge will still connected to pins in the case. Issue 4: sometimes when I join a call or try to use text to speech or use Siri my headphones won’t have a microphone listening to me, and when I try to reconnect them, it doesn’t work. Any advice or help I could get would be great. Thanks.

My AirPods are gen 1 and updated to 6.8.8 automatically but then keep on disconnecting without giving battery error tune and they disconnect the fastest on calls. Can anyone help me
As for my experience... my AirPod will auto update when it connects to lightning pod when charging it... as long its has been connected to any of connected devices that run wifi data... ✌️

I can't thank you enough for your video...I understood every word, you speak slowly enough I could move along with you as I went thru the steps. I am waiting for my AirPod Pro to update as I'm writing this. BTW, just got these AirPod Pros at APPLE, and the firmware is incorrect...Why wouldn't a new product be updated...so frustrating..Apple and their Customer Service have really taken a dive, no longer the RollsRoyce of Electronics, I'm afraid. Hi Aren. I just got up and till last night my AirPod 2 was working fine. I was not able to hear sounds through AirPods in morning or hear calls so I tried to follow your video but I saw my current version was already the latest one. But somehow once it was plugged in and close to my phone the AirPods started working fine within seconds. Anyways thanks to your video As I think it did the trick. I always follow your videos and I prefer your videos against others in RUclips.

My AirPods Pro have been acting funky since iOS 14.5 released. And I updated them. Won’t let me use both ears at the same time even after I disconnect/ reconnect them 🤦🏿♂️

Just last night I got my AirPods Pro and I didn’t realize I had to update them to get the functions I thought they had out of the box.
Tried to do this for about an hour or two, leaving the AirPods charging and open next to the phone without success.
Do they also update just while using them? Because I think this is totally unpractical.
As far as I understood Reddit comments the first fw was the best. My pods came with 2nd fw version out of box and since they sounded well I decided to keep it and tried to avoid fw update .BUT, although I kept earbuds out of the box, as soon as I put box on charger via wire, Fw updated itself. Buds were not on my ears during that time but they were not inside the box either. I can confirm that anc is still working good with the latest fw although I can’t do AB testing to tell the difference. Sound IS probably better. Hums from the vent are still suppressed to the same level. Not sure about speech and high pitched tones . Latest fw didn’t destroy them that’s for sure. Basically anc works better than on Bose qc35ii I tested .
Aaron, love your stuff. Can you include a flash chart of the current version for each on screen? Also, I have already had one APP replaced under warranty. Second is starting to go. Not happy. So unlike Apple 🍏

The letters must mean something like if the first number is changed then it’ll be a new feature, it is is the second letter than it is a bug fix, and the last ones must be performance related

I have the AirPods 2 and the Apple Watch series 5 Cellular. When I ever I am out without my iPhone XS plus and I am using my AirPods connected to the Apple Watch it’s stops playing music after about 2 3 seconds. I can’t get the music to keep playing. The music I am playing is from the Apple Watch music that is downloaded.

Go to general then ABOUT !!! If your air buds are live your see it as you scroll then check for the firmware after that if the box is closed you won’t find it
BTW, I did a tip fit test and no matter what size I picked after the latest firmware update I get the message to adjust the right ear or change the ear tip. This did not occur prior to this update.
I watched a video on my iPhone and switched to my iPad but the sound didn’t switch. I had to change manually to the AirPods again on the iPad. Where did I go wrong?
I looked this up today as I’m having connectivity issues with my AirPods Pro. Every singe time I use them, one ear or the other does not connect. The only way for me to get them both to connect is to ‘forget’ them as a device and manually re-pair them. Big hassle. I googled quickly, and turned up 2D27 as the current firmware. That is what mine have. Have you encountered this before?
