So glad Yame is a much happier Lion. He’s beautiful and George was cute as can be grimacing while waiting to load up. Yame went back to the truck in hopes of getting some treats from you Kevin. He was looking at you like where’s my treat for loading up and more to keep me occupied while we load Georgie! 😂
The story of George and Yame never ceases to amaze and inspire. From all the people involved in their rescue and rehabilitation to the two beautiful boys themselves, I feel such gratitude at having the privilege to see their transformation. it got triggered when Kevin took George for a checkup/spray
reminds him of the previous old days where they were not taken care of and george suffered a permanent injury

Interesting with prozac use for lions. Dose adjustments seem like just opposite of what we do with humans. It is perfectly fine to use prozac in animals, it's nothing like traqualizers, it is anti-depressant and helps with minimal side effects

Short True Fact: I had 2 cats that were different ages but were very bonded. My older cat had kidney disease and I had to put her to sleep. Younger cat cried so painfully & constantly until I was given a 2 ft beautiful white cat statue. I came home from wk and the apt was quiet. There was my sweet cat lying sleeping right up against the statue. I never expected that but I am grateful that it worked.
Nilene T - Aah that’s so sweet. She did miss her little buddy but I’m glad she found some comfort in the statue, that’s awesome.

Honestly I love Charlie. When I was younger there was this older man everyone stayed away from because he was mean and grumpy. But I thought maybe he was that way to warn or back people off because he was sad or hurt. So no matter how grumpy he got I kept coming back and being nice. Before ya knew we were an odd friendship but I was grateful to call him my friend. I know Charlie isnt human but I just want to show him that much more that people and pride mates and life is that much more beautiful

I lost my house in bushfires about a year ago, thankfully my relaxed, cool cat Leo and I evacuated and were safe,. The 6 months after were difficult and stressful and that presented in Leo as extreme aggression and hyper awareness. I couldn’t help but imagine how horrible that must be for him and he was prescribed anti anxiety medications. The change was incredible and quickly became more like his usually chill self. He is no longer on meds, but I’m so glad I did it for him.
Kevin, those Lions are so lucky to have you looking out for them, and making sure they live their best lives. Anytime intervention is needed it’s a tough choice, but I’m sure Yame is grateful that he’s feeling more like himself. Thanks for sharing his story. 💚💚💚
When you lose your house but get out safely with your loved ones, pets included. Its then that you realise that they're material things and can be replaced unlike living beings. Sorry for your loss its still traimatising.

I'm sorry you lost your house and I'm glad your cat is feeling better now after a traumatic experience and then a new place.
I've heard that cbd oil is great for calming cats and there is also a plug in diffuser of a blendof essential oils specifically made to help cats with anxiety in the home that my friend who has a rescue uses with great results as well!

I remember you talking about fully mature males having the dark fur on the back of the legs but I didn't see it with George and Yame, at least nowhere near the darkness of Bobcat. Is there a reason for that? I would assume aggression would go along with the darker backs of the legs.
You’re right; the lack of darkness on the back of the legs is a dead giveaway that Yame’s problem wasn’t abnormally high testosterone, but also his coloring would be only comparatively darker since yame is a lighter lion all around and I’m sure Kevin knew that, he has to check all boxes to make sure they get to the root of yame’s problem.
Honestly though I don’t blame Yame; sexual health is an important part of any animal’ (human or otherwise) overall health and it’s the one area in their lives that will never be fulfilled.
Yame (and George) are both condemned to a life without ever being able to act on urges that they’ll never quite understand because they’ll never have a first sexual encounter to even base their knowledge off of. That’s sad, but it’s the trade off to an otherwise richly rewarding life in captivity (compared to other animal’s fates in captivity).
In the absence of any knowledge how anything works, Yame went to the only other life source that’s a constant in his life...George...and coveted him and his scents as a way (I think) of trying to ‘rub that itch’...trying to understand his own sexuality and lack of sexuality his life had given him.
It’s actually quite sad, and of course, this is just my theory. Not all lions have it has bad as poor Yame, but I bet that all the lions (especially) male that never find out what their urges mean and are, go through something similar.
Anyway just my guess! 😀

I can only say from personal experience, it 'smells' quite strong!(much less taste! Eww), Much more than say a housecat!? I had the pleasure of meeting & sitting with Clarence the 'cross-eyed' Lion from TV fame. He was a Wonderful Creature, but He was also quite pungent!? 🤭❤️🦁
Christ is King! You‘ll find me totally in awe!!! You met Clarence, the lion who is the reason why I love these animals so much! It was my favorite show when I was a very small child and every Saturday night I was waiting impatiently for it to start. Awww, sweet memories❤️🦁

They took me to Lion Country Safari in 'San Diego' ( think that's where it was located). But yes, it was a show that I loved also, and it was such a thrill to Stroke the Mane of such a Noble Creature! 🥰🦁

Patience, behavioural knowledge along with testing is just so important, no creature can talk to you and tell you what’s up, Kevin has the interests of his charges first and foremost, it’s why I like his interactions with the lions, the body of knowledge he has acquired over decades really pays off.

Charlie is my middle name. You are right about Yod Hay Waw Shin Waw Ayin(YaHuWSHuWa). A somali offered me a koran and I told him I have the truth in my heart and rejected his offer. So he said " I told you what I believe, so you tell me what you believe." And I told him about The Father YaHuWaH and Son, YaHuSHuWa and when he repeated YaHuSHuWa, we heard a loud ovation and he even said it was angels and we saw a horizontal rainbow and a cardinal was flying across it and we both said it was a miracle. But he is still muslim. Even though the LOUD CLAPPING OVATION happened when the muslim somali said YaHuWSHuWa.
No one was around us when the loud ovation happened and he was looking behind me and I was looking behind him to see where the ovation came from because the sound of the ovation surrounded us and my heart was pounding in fear like what just happened?

These lions had a hard go in the beginning. They are fabulous now. They are such good boys. I wonder if its common for them to act like rescue pets act. By that I mean are they more thankful? Just sweet, sweet babies. I truly hope they have no memory o the bad times. They seem to have the routine of the park down now. Feel completely at home now.
And far as medication goes, sometimes we need it. Help yam get feeling “right” again.

My domestic cat, Oliver, was a fixed male who was extremely territorial over me and my house. He began marking his territory inside the house when he saw cats outside as he was an indoor cat. I put him on fluoxetine, so I know this does help with aggression. My vet had me keep him on it for years. He was my big protector. The only date he ever approved of is my husband now. Oliver is my guardian angel now.❤️
You are dealing with the symptoms not the cause. Question is why is your cat depressed
@@chabalichabali8714 Oliver is no longer living. He lived for 14 years until he developed cognitive disorder, which is the equivalent of dementia in humans. He didn’t like being an indoor cat. He wanted to fight the cats outside. He was extremely territorial of me and our home. He had no fear. He was fixed and yet still had these behavioral issues. If I let him roam free outside he would have been dead within a year. He was a typical “Tom” cat. He didn’t like confinement. We were in an apartment at first and he wasn’t happy, so I bought us a house with a gated back yard where he could be outside supervised. He was happy at first, but the cats of the neighborhood would taunt him from the outside. I got him a companion named Phoebe as the vet said I shouldn’t get another male as he may kill it. He loved her with all his heart, but it was one more thing to be possessive of. Once my husband came into the picture along with his golden retriever, Oliver became less territorial and protective. He no longer marked. The anxiety disappeared and he lived out the remainder of his years happier. I also think he fed off my own anxiety as well. He was very much in tune to me. He was my soul mate. Once my husband came into the picture, I felt better and so did Oliver. Being single for 9 years and owning your own home is stressful and Oliver was there with me through it all. He felt what I felt. So if you want to ask me why my cat is “depressed” I guess you can blame me. I had a cat that loved me so much he took on my emotions.
