Sounds dope bro even though I use a daw I recently started implementing techniques I learned here and it's done alot for my workflow and beats in general🎧💪
If possible, could you please include these samples in the next weekly samples release on patreon bro ? Thanks :))
The pasedenas! They're from South London in the UK! Classic!
not gonna lie the fact you were pushing out Dilla-esk beats effortlessly and didn’t even like the chops you found frustrated me to my core😪😅 but I stumbled across this video and will definitely be watching your older videos so I can catch up on the vibe. So far I haven’t been disappointed with your workflow yet; keep it going dude.
Especially at 1:14
"Not my cut!" still makes a banger
It's like a GZA beat
Right!
Hot Pizza just arrived
My friend : Netflix
Me : Marlow Digs
Fuck Netflix and their 3rd rate entertainment
That Robert Flack record is what Premo used on Nas' "2nd Childhood" song.
"Who else could it be"....

Roberta
One of my fav tracks
The truth is that those drums are what makes all those segments sound so heavy.
Who knew watching someone else crate dig would be SO ENTERTAINING?
4:01 add a kickstart sidechain and you got a dope daft punk/Justice type beat
Real talk my g... being a beatmaker spending hours or basically most of our lives alone with our sounds and pads, I feel like we are hanging and sharing our passion and knowledge (may it be one side, you talking and us watching) but its inspirational makes me feel like I have a peer a colleague who knows the life and singlemindedness passion for the craft. Honestly most of the stuff you explain I already know (yet there is still a lot you teach us) but most of all feels like we hanging and is a boost in creativity and inspirational, so thank you my dude, keep doing what you do, it is appreciated! Much love from The Netherlands!
👊😘✌
Yeah, many many hours putting beats together. chopping and collage sounds is addictive. Is always a pleasure seeing everyone cook up their music.
Hey RD! Do you have Reddit?
Check this out.

As an italian i love to use italian samples. The best are the 70's police movie and the zombie movie Soundtracks. Go on like this!
Yes, Italian music is dope
ciao
@@tobiasjeppesen9528 ciao!
@@pasqualesorice8276 Imparo italino.
Yes!
Those poor records need more love… almost cried at the hand-wiping
That second guitar based beat was FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRE.
The thin one is a flexi disc! I collect them. Mainly used for advertising because they could be inserted in a magazine, or sent through the mail, without shattering. Most of them are complete garbage but some can be gold for sampling. Here in the UK "Lyntone" and "Sound for Industry" were the main flexi labels. Check out the book "Wobbly Sounds" by Jonny Trunk which is like a catalogue of famous ones.
Great, happy to hear some one is caring for these discs. Thanks for letting me know.
Sweet
In japan these kind of flex is very common
I remember seeing one in a National Geographic magazine back in the 90's.
I know we categorize as humans, I get it, but just about anything can work. It's art. As long as it swings right, has a rhythmic vibe and slaps, somebody will feel it... Too often we get caught up with only what sounds familiar or popular. How we put it all together in the end with the lyrics is relevant.
can't agree more
I agree everything and every soundpack is 808s and trap its annoying. Not hating on trap music but thats all you hear and see a lot in tutorials now.
@@ballin5560 yeah it's all straight up copy pasta lol. It's good for learning basics I guess, but people forget that being different you stand out way more
The first side on the accordion record 👍👍
Me: That sample is fiiiire!
Marlow: not my type of beat. let's move on.
Those drums are dirty as hell bro. Wooo! That side chain on the kick just makes all of those samples instant bangers.
Yeah they came straight out the shop.
Ah warms my heart as a Portuguese American to see someone using these samples
That first one 🔥🔥🔥
Some of the ones he threw away or said "weren't that great" sounded pretty good, to me!
omg bro you make it look sooo easy. had a good beat foundation in like 2 sec then be like, not my type of cut 😆 😆. You’re the 🐐!
8:37 this sample was used by Dj Premier on Nas - 2nd Childhood Song 💯💥💣🔥
5:12 cracked me up. 😂🤣 I just came back to watch this again and get some inspiration. Thanks for always vibin’, Marlow. ✌️💯
I second that.. that was funny 5:12 😂
1:21 Not my type of cut? Geez man! That was sickkkkkk!!!
That sample at 0:49 was 🔥 Great video!
Fisz - Czerwona sukienka
that beat at 4:35 is awesome, i honestly really liked the twinkly vibe it has despite being so simple
also, at 6:30 is a flexi disc. i believe they were basically a super cheap way to put out a record, a lot of underground punk bands would put out material on them back in the 80s.
1st one is like a DOOM sample! Secco did one is fire 🔥
It’s something about that picture on the wall behind you. J Dilla heads down in the middle of a room flipping beats. So simple yet so special.
i like the first sample a lot
I like the stuff u didnt? and I produce too, on an mpc 2000...marlow! it does work, it workssss..thats the beauty
Love listening to your comments about what works or not. You clearly have an ear of what you’re looking for.
I made a video called sampling Blindfolded, and the concept was just that. I wanted to show that you can sample anything, anything works. But for me it's about what I am looking for and not just taking anything.
8:30 I love my people undeniably the best
5:49 Tuamie’s vibe!
Laura Branigan had a hit in the 80s called Self Control.
Just out of curiosity, are you from the States?
@@mpchead -- Yup. But here's something interesting, "Self Control" started out as an Italo-Disco song, it was originally by an Italian singer named "Raf" - Laura Branigan made an English cover in the same year. I'm fascinated by little things like that.
Like did you know the Knight Rider theme actually is a sample of Harry Thumann's "Sphinx?" And the horn melody comes from Paul Whiteman - Parade of The Wooden Soldiers.
O meu espanto quando ouvi "beijinho" com sotaque portugues. Que cena. Muito bom conteúdo! Parabéns :)
Obrigado 🙏🏼
The way you select tracks in one second and say "no", you remind me myself and it made me laugh. Thanks for that moment!
Man, when you find it, you find it. that Roberta Flack chop was fantastic.
I love your beats on the sample of paul jorges. .big up
Thakns 🙏🏼
Second childhood - Nas 🔥🔥🔥
just like Dilla and Premo and Rza etc. IF a person as good as they think they are at makin beats
you can take anything freak it and make it sound dope ,I heard stuff from every single record you played that had parts that could have been freaked into a dope track I was over here pulling my hair out like aaarrrgh!! hahahaa!
part of the issue is that you gotta break out of making the same boom bap slow laid back beats and be more adventurous and challenging with your tempos (even if its hiphop beats)and your approach to the Beat and samples ... thas what we love about DILLA RZA & PREMO especially producers like NOTTZ yah gotta break from old habits THAT being said I like what you do my dude keep it up
I like how you don’t use the 45rpm spindle adapter - instant pitch effect while you sample depending on how you lay it on the mat!
yes pitch effect straight out the turntable
You are a legend sir!
Fan of these vids! Please keep making em. It’s nice to see your style and process in the fine art of digging
I liked the sound you rejected on 5:48 👌🏾
1:11 so dope this moment, rly i like so much your style.
I liked that effect and little jam you gave up on in an instant
A lot of time those flappy records were placed in music magazines. It was always nice to get a free single with your tiger mag
Bro love ur videos... just a tip keep those loops u say u don’t like , come back to them at a later date.. ur ears will be different and u will hear it better.. all those quick loops u made were all fire!!! Make a whole folder of them and u will be suprised...Just need to ad on top of them... great video overall
Thanks man. I see what you're saying, it definitely works and would make a fire beat but the sound idk if it fits my aesthetics
@@mpchead I get it but ur style could change in the future... trust I was the same.. now I wish I would of kept all those loops I scrapped just becuz I wasn’t feeling in the moment... u can turn around and sell those loops in a pack .. just an idea
Sweet thank you.
Second sample was fire! Would have loved to see you use that one. Hadd that ultimate "lofi feel" cause the record already was so bent and wobbled around 🤣!!!
It's cos he doesn't have a 45 adapter
Just what I wanted this morning, another sample dig video! Now I can avoid the pile of records I was gonna sample today for another 20 minutes :D
Love these types of vids from you
I like the concept of this video... digging with Marlow
Found this channel through RUclips recommendations and i must say you really teach me alot about sampling...Thanks Man
That drum track was knocking
This is my favorite video. I have that Pebo record. I just replay the part when you first hear the sample, the reaction was priceless!
The little pattern you had going on 1:18 sounded like some Shaolin Wu loops.
⚔️
Thank you brother. You make it look simple. I think the beats find you. I'm not versed in beat making but I can sit and listen all day. This was dope. The beat you whipped up at 1:10 is the type of beats I love. Opens you up.
Bro the throwaways are gas!
“I would cut this for myself….” Proceeds to cut it for himself. 🤦🏾♂️
Lots of sampler gold in there
Interesting stuff... Do it again 😎
Yeah good idea, need todo a new session
holy shit man first 1 an half minute and already 2 dope beats , this video is gonna be epic
Dope video. Bringing the raw beat making experience
Tenho a impressao d k percebes portugues! Ou nao?
Roberta flack sample is nas second childhood
Too cool for the 45 adapter. 😂
Awsome stuff, wish you could make more of these , peace bro ✌️
Roberta Flack sample went hard bro!!!
NAS sampled this too for ‘second childhood’ 👌🏽
Do this again. Love it.
6:19 You found a Flexi-Disc. They were often given out with Cereal packets, or magazines as promotional material. Some of them are super rare. I paid serious dollar for one in Montreal that had a rare funk track that was never released on it with a crazy guy talking about echo chambers over the top. Dope find.
You would find those plastic records in magazines like Drum or Guitar magazines for exercises. But I never saw this format used for an artists.
Love that dustyness on the records! 🎶 That second sample/beat, 🔥!
Loved the Pasadenas back in the day, awesome seeing you cut that up!
Love seeing you work that old school material, makes me grab my PO-33 everytime to bust out some creativity. 😇
Love these sample digging videos. Be safe 👌🏻
I inherited a HUGE collection (hundreds) of Portuguese fado/ classic records from my Vovo.... I have found some gems, but definitely need to dig. The thing I like is I know when I find a nice loop, or chop, no one will ever know where it comes from. Also old Brasilian music 45's have more groove and some good digging. I'm going to make a response video, and find some Portuguese heat for you. I think I agree about the stabs, I find a lot of stabs because the style of instruments played.
I am making a Portuguese beat based on fado tomorrow.
I came to the conclusion I wasn't creative enough when sampling being new to it, but I think this video will help allot. Thank you !
I found a ton of beats on that Portuguese stuff you played, you can mess around and style it the way you'd like, play it backwards even. I've done tons of stuff from foreign records that were bangers when I was done. Good video though, :)
Yeah being Portuguese I ve made countless beats with Fado music, it's not my thing. I really love jazz, it's just a preference thing.
🔥🔥🔥🔥I wanna hear the whole track now
you gotta sample some cassiano, djavan, quarteto em cy, gal costa, marcos valle, arthur verocai, gilberto gil, tom jobim. These are the good choppable brazilian music!
Nas used that Roberta Flack "Second Childhood"
this is awesome dude! 9:18 was sampled in a Nas beat, called 2nd childhood
Slappin as always. Love watching your vids for inspiration.
You sparked my creativity. Thank you!!
🔥🔥🔥
That polka sounding joint is good for truncates
Peace fam always love your videos. If you want to clean your record get some 91% alcohol and mix it with distilled water in a spray bottle. Spray the vinyl and wipe with a soft microfiber cloth in the direction of the grooves. Use a vinyl brush to get rid of the excess cotton or anything. Hope this helps
Cool, what ratio alcohol / water?
thanks for the tip
@@FairchlldMusic1 2/3 alcohol 1/3 water
@@MULTIVERSEGEETV thanks dude!
@@FairchlldMusic1 No Problem!
Nice demonstration inna short timeframe!
1st beat and sample was the 🔥
thats entertaining, first time hearing portuguese music hehe, i might grab one when i find one on a fleamarket and try sampling it
You just made me rediscover that Roberta Flack record -THX bro ! ! !
9,39 dang that smooth bass drum sound best
You must be Portuguese, the way you say Paulo Jorge, Joana e Pedro, Beijinho and Rosas Vermelhas.
The slim "record" where demos for promotion some came with magazines and didn't last long usually.
I am yes ✌🏼
4:41 🔥🔥
Bro I have plastic sheet 45s from when I was a kid they are Alf the tv for singing songs from kids meals at Hardee's fast food restraunt
6:06 nothing exciting to be honest. 😆 🤣 ALL Sound Great to me, but you really love your Soul & Jazz Marlow. Keep doing your thing Bro! ✌
Digging is never easy ;) but youve got a dope one ☝️! Thanks buddy for sharing
Yeah that's record is great. I got it for a dollar recently. Cheers Marlow!
Love your video's but you need to buy a plastic 45 adapter.
Bruh the second one tho digs even tho u normally wouldn’t it would be heat if you did
Interesting the comment on them chops, great to hear out 🔥
More of this man!!
