  • A portable firepit is a must for anyone who winter camps in the outdoors. Getting your fire elevated up off of the ground is essential for both snow camping, and for abiding by "leave no trace". In this video, I take you with me to the Sierra Nevadas at 8000ft, and give you my thoughts on the Fireside Outdoors Firepit.
Bottom line up front: it's a strong buy.

I was looking at that same firepit well before Jason posted his video. Actually had it in my saved for later list on Amazon. After watching his video review, I noticed that he was assembling it incorrectly and the screen was drooping below the aluminum side walls potentially allowing hot embers to fall out.
I started looking on Amazon again to see what the prices were currently at and found a similar but possibly better designed firepit from QOMOTOP (same brand as your mattresses). It was listed at $129 with a $40

That's a great suggestion I'll take a look at their setup! The fireside outdoors model does come with a ash blanket but honestly I always forget to set it up. Appreciate the feedback!

Hi how long does the fire mesh last for?

Good review and good info! That thing looks sweet! I wonder if you could dry wood by placing it underneath? Have you tried that?

Yeah I have and there's definitely room for it! Appreciate it

Pretty cool. Why did you complain about finding leftover ashes when you just dump yours out too?

My comment was mainly pointed towards people leaving rock circles, but your point is valid. I try and spread the ashes out around the area as to not make it as obvious someone was there.

@@RhinoOffroad I'm always happy to find a rock circle somewhere, especially if there's a flat one or two to set my grill on. And someone didn't leave trash in it. I just bought one a these though, you can't keep your feet toasty with a rock ring. Saw a guy cut 4 8" ID pieces a pipe to lift the grill up high enough to cook on, so Bought one of those too. It's winter camping season. Good review, short and sweet.

As just a safety comment. Carrying the pit around with burning wood may not be the best idea. Suggest putting the fire out first.

I have d.i.y. fire pan that that I have built that is somewhat like this but is much more durable and has a cheap replaceable pan. Check it out on my channel.

Food should only ever be cooked on "ashes and coals", never over an actual fire.
