The Jagd Doga was my first gunpla kit and it is also my favorite. Jagd Doga is also the strongest mobile suit of all time and could easily defeat anything that gets in its way. Jagd Doga 4 lyfe
For being based off the Geara Doga (in cannon anyways), the two are surprisingly hard to kit bash together if you wanted to try that. I still haven't found a way to make it work without swapping whole parts.
I think this is a beautiful HGUC kit; mainly because it was so well done (I seem to remember the inner frame has some detailed parts? and it's from 2007...) but more importantly the original design kicks ass. It's not like you're gonna change your mind cause of an anonymous commenter, but I'd personally keep that color scheme because it's so unique and different from a grunt; for a similar design but much more militaristic, there's already the geara doga. Besides, you can always tone the colors down by using a mixture of gold and yellow and a mixture of turkoise and grey...but yeah, it's just the obssesive fan talking and picturing a CCA diorama thing where all MS have their original color scheme haha. Nice review!!
Agreed the kit is awesome, and there are a lot of details especially in the arms. And I appreciate the ideas for the color scheme. Yeah I think keeping the color scheme but just toning down the saturation of it a bit could be cool. But maybe next time! This time I'm going for something totally different!
Finally picked up this kit - I'm going to paint the yellow parts in metallic gold so that it looks like the box art, I think it will really help compared to the stock banana yellow plastic.
I gotta to admit, back when I have little experience of gundam kits, I don’t understand why you prise this kit so much. But after build them for 5 years, I took a look at this kit’s manuel and interior mechanical details, I’m now a believer. Bandai goes out of its way to make this HG release a seamless, highly detailed, color-separate perfection kit. And it was released in 2007, the same year as the Exia gundam from 00, and 2 years earlier than HGUC Nu or ZZ. The articulation range can be better, but it will take some unique joints design, like the HGUC Messer recently. I would love to grab one for myself if it’s available.
2007 and 2008 were a great year for gunpla....some of the best HGUC and MG 2.0 kits ever made. The CCA HGUC kits are all very solid, and I also dig the HGUC Kampfer. One thing that is unique about many of these kits is the use of ABS parts for joints. The Nu Gundam is the exception as it is 100% polystyrene and polycaps. But the Kampfer, Geara Doga and Re-GZ have ABS parts in the knees and shoulders. ABS is the same material used for inner frames on master grade 2.0 kits.
Question. Whats the size comparison between this and the hg Kshatriya? I want to do a custom Kshatriya and I like some of the peices of this. Or is it too small and ill need a 1/100? I would think this would be okay, since theyre both bigger kits.
It shows in the movie how the saber is removed. Gyunei took it out by opening the skirt out a bit and he took it out. Kinda weird though. Would've been nice if it has the same saber gimmick as the Sazabi.
I miss the old HGUC series now. Most of HGs nowaday only for eyepleasing purpose but have like a huge tons of problem where everything keep falling apart.
I definitely recommend the kit! If you don't want to hand paint and don't have an airbrush yet, then how about trying spray cans? I'll be showing how I use them in a video soon, an installment in the Gunpla Building series. So stay tuned for that if you're interested! Otherwise, I'm sure there's plenty of info out there already on how to use them well! ^^
Yeah, I've been thinking of trying spray cans on an insignificant kitbash I have in mind. I just never know which brands to use! I'll definitely keep an eye out for that video, thanks. :]
Nice review and nice looking kit, well except for the colors. I do wish there was a mg of it, I think they could use the geara doga frame or something pretty similar , I would love to have a mg efreet aswell which I would think they could use the 2.0 gouf and/or zaku frames there is resin conversion kits of it,but I've only done 1 resin kit and it was the gerbera tetra 1/100 and I had a pretty rough time with it,but I'm thinking of trying one more time maybe with the gm sniper 2 conversion kit well its actually the sniper custom that I've been looking at , oh and did you get the email I sent you
Yes I got the email! Sorry I didn't reply yet, but I'll send that out as soon as I get a chance! And yes, I'd also love an MG Jagd Doga! We've got the Nu, Hi-Nu, Sazabi, and Nightingale, so it might make sense to finally get some 1/100 love for the Jagd Doga! I would also LOVE an Efreet kit as well.
Thanks! Yes, I've got some stuff on pre-order that will be coming in April~ HGBF Transient, HGRC G-Self Assault Pack, HGUC Zaku II The Origin Version, HGUC V2 Assault Buster, and RE GP-04G. Haha, I went a little crazy this time! But I'm really looking forward to all of those kits!
hey are colors mandatory. I'm a modeler my self and thinking about getting into gunpla. Right now i do Warhammer 40k. if i could customize fully id love to try this out.
eric mako It does have some ball joints, yes. If you watch some of my "Gunpla Building" series you can probably see some of the joints better, if you're interested. Or check out scans of the manual on dalong.net

Hell yeah! I've totally fallen in love with this kit! This is the first but certainly won't be the last!
It's so good to find reviews on this kind of HGs... I just order both Quess and Gyuneiis and I'm pretty excited.
It's a great kit! I recently bought another one!
It is limited one per customer in HLJ right now. I waited 3 years for Quess'
I like Quess' colors are more appealing. Believe it or noy, you can find these on amazon too
Thank you, Zaku. You inspired me for my next project. At this in my life, I can't let go the airbrush. Great hobby.
the colors aren't ugly they're 80's vintage classic.

Thanks to this review , I will surely gonna buy it.. :) would you do a custom paint in this? I wanna see a custom paint job on this one
Yes! the paint scheme will be custom! You'll be able to see more about that soon in the Gunpla Building series!
U should do the high speed thing that u did when u posed him on more of ur videos, I thought it was sorta cool to watch how u got the pose.
I think if I custom painted this, I would give it Angelo Sauper colors

Oooeh this guy looks chunkier than the re/100. I was thinking about getting that one but I think I might prefer this one :D
I'm actually kind of pissed that the newer kits with better articulation have less hand options but older kits have open hands trigger hand and etc
I miss the old HGUC series now. Most of HGs nowaday only for eyepleasing purpose but have like a huge tons of problem where everything keep falling apart.
Looks great! I've been eyeballing this kit for a while. I'd like to buy it when I get an airbrush since I suck at hand painting.

+ZakuAurelius maybe a RE 1/100 of this kit? here's to hoping!
+ZakuAurelius maybe a RE 1/100 of this kit? here's to hoping!
migsprats RE100 confirmed myguy!
reminds me a lot of the Gerbera Tetra
Great review as usual. Are you getting any newer kits from Build Fighters Try or HGUC in the future?
But I'm really looking forward to all of those kits!
oh also do i have to strip the colors if it comes with some.
Can the funnel effect parts be used on the hguc sazabi?
Is the neck connection compatible with current polycap neck joints? Got a kitbash idea brewing
Which current ones?
The double ball joint type most all HG kits have now. Seems like this kit uses something different?
hey are colors mandatory. I'm a modeler my self and thinking about getting into gunpla. Right now i do Warhammer 40k. if i could customize fully id love to try this out.
Well nothing in gunpla is mandatory! But that being said, painting is a pretty important step if you really want to achieve the best looking gunpla!
is this kit on ball joint?
eric mako It does have some ball joints, yes. If you watch some of my "Gunpla Building" series you can probably see some of the joints better, if you're interested. Or check out scans of the manual on dalong.net
Where do u watch chars counter attack?!
Netflix! Sorry I’m 4 years late..
GYUNEI!!!!!!
I mite get more than one and give them new paint jobs
it's pronounced Yagd some pronounce it yakt...not Yaka....
Is it me or does the head look like a bird
It actually has eye markings to make it look more like a bird.
He's right. But I'm gonna be getting rid of those eyes!
