Ole Lord Stickapopple very much enjoyed his Scottish base also, his annual Hogmanay hootenanny with this Duke and indeed many wannabe Duchess's,yup he was a great believer in a chicken for every pot ,a maid for every scullery, yup indeed the family estate boasted forty seven thousand acres,!the Scottish crofters were allowed to stay for minimal rent,
You know what,,you must cry a million tears, it is utterly heartbreakingly desolate to think that one English Family, one English So called nobleman owns all this,,why in God's name is there any pride in this??it is just heartbreaking to think of the the Crofters!!!!!Who gave this lad all this land ??how did he gain ownership ? What right minded clown gave him all this land ? It beggars belief !
I agree, but then you have to look back and reflect on the other land owners. It is no different to a Dutchman, Arab, Jew, Royalty, and Scottish owning large swathes of land
I was thinking the same thing, about how does any one man justify owning soooo much property, simply because he was born into a family that would just give it all to him one day... especially when there are soooo many decent, honest, hard working people, that are struggling to survive with so little. (Not that I am hardened communist or socialist, but there comes a point when such a vulgar display of wealth makes you question the thinking behind what we call 'capitalism' and how an elite few are able to flourish for generations, as if they were divine creatures and entitled to such excess.)
The land doesn't grow anything? His estate appears to be the equivalent of public forest land? How does he get any income off the estate for its maintenance?
land management witin the estate is huge, fishing, private lodges form the largest part of the estate, with forestry also a major part of income. This Scottish estate works on quality, rather than quantity
