6th June 1990, Tony Pond achieved the 1st ever 100+mph lap in a Rover 827 Vitesse - 190Bhp, and a barn door of a car, compared with the nimble 4 wheel drive 305bhp Scooby.
I have infinite admiration for that man.

to think Tony Pond did 102mph average in a 177 bhp rover that did o-60 in 9.3 seconds and handled like a barge in 1990 makes Tony's achievement far more impressive i think !!

A bit glammed up. Would have been nice to see the full footage of the lap with obviously the talk through of the 'incident' at the end. If that would have turned out for the worse there would have been more than just driver and passenger deaths. Very, very lucky there. The road is pretty narrow for a car there.

The car only has 305 hp, not 800. I am proud to be Subaru owner, though will never drive that fast, roads too bad and congested where I live.

one of the few times where driving a car is probably just as dangerous as riding a motorcycle...
