i love it when the artists of old game music are on youtube, see all the people who still love their creations, and feel appreciation. Jeroen Tel is quite active in comment sections of cheetahman91's c64 uploads of his stuff.
Gordian Tomb is so underrated: for years I didn't even remeber the game's title. Of course the fact that virtually no-one in the retro scene talks about it didn't help.
Thanks for uploading a Thomas Detert tune. I think his SID-music is really underappreciated. When I was young I bought the Magic Disk and Game On! magazines pretty much only because of his music.
Great tune and excellent oscilloscope view. I think there is something wrong with filters. I heard version with much intense filters, and it is also great. I know each SID is unique.
Weird. These waveforms are those that my electronics circuits generate and I am used to seeing and studying them through oscilloscope to understand or troubleshoot problems. Never did I know they would sound so great when mixed together.
Gordian Knot - How did Alexander The Great cut the Gordian Knot? ...hmmm....... ... with a SWORD and he became the master of Asia Minor. For a short time and literally paved the road for Christianity? And who paved the road? The Roman Empire. - YA THANKS BRAM FOR HELPING BRUCE DICKINSON WITH IRON MAIDEN!
It depends, each of the 3 Channels can be switched independently to different waveforms. The 8-Bit Guy has a good video that explains this, search “how old school music worked”
It means the song hasn't been set to repeat, but this is one single playthrough of the song. Since it's rather long, people might assume that it's put on repeat otherwise.
I missed this back in the day. I know it is highly thought of by some but I think there is a lot of padding in tune, almost as if it was designed to get over the 30 minutes mark to a statement. Give me some Wally Beben's Tetris instead.
thanks for the upload, Rolf !! ;-)

When I first heard this, I was confused, it really sounds like more than three channels. Legendary composing.
Thomas.. I really really like your work.. ATM Clystron is my favorite. 😎 Thx !
Yeah. 30+ mins of audio Culture uploaded with three jumping visual lines. What else is needed for feeling good. :)
Oh cool, a new oscilloscope SID... *notices the video length* *head explodes*
C64 be like "I don't care about limitations! Screw em'!
Hell the sound chip seems to be getting better songs as the generations go on

Like 50 of the views on your oscilloscope videos are me. C64 soundtracks are good music for working/studying.
I agree. I listen to this song when programming.
what a disgrace to the music, use a lift music instead, same disgrace to the composer
@@daniela_dundel Music can't be disgraced, it lacks the ability to feel emotions.

25:55 WE MAKING IT OUT OF THE TOMB WITH THIS ONE 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
one of the best c64 tunes i ever heard
IMPOSSIBRU
Gordian Tomb is so underrated: for years I didn't even remeber the game's title. Of course the fact that virtually no-one in the retro scene talks about it didn't help.

Yes, Detert is true SID music master! Although I did not recognize him when I actually used my C64.
he's definitely underappreciated. he doesn't even have a wikipedia article...
2:25 the masterpiece begins
Probably my most favourite C64 tunes of all time.
I really love the stereophonic effect when two or all tree channels work on the same tone... Glorious at 24:12
This is not stereo but he works so good that i think is stereo.
"tree channels"

Absolutelly the best c64 soundrack. This game has special room in my heart.
Same... atmosphere non existend anymore
Great tune and excellent oscilloscope view.
I think there is something wrong with filters. I heard version with much intense filters, and it is also great.
I know each SID is unique.
This uses 6581, the one that uses the "intense" filters is 8580, which is what Detert did most of his tunes with.
Weird. These waveforms are those that my electronics circuits generate and I am used to seeing and studying them through oscilloscope to understand or troubleshoot problems. Never did I know they would sound so great when mixed together.
30+ minutes! Holy moly!
Thanks for your work and for this new upload, highly appreciated, really !
Love the 60fps! Anti-aliased 1080p would be a great addition.
Simply amazing. I love it!
A proper genius at work. Like SO many C64 music *COMPOSERS* !!!

60 FPS...Wonderful....
probably one of the most visually interesting & (understandable ?) tunes in this area. very nice.
Awesome nostalgia and love ❤️

One of my all time classics !
Really amazing!
Loving the 60Hz :D

Welcome back. Loving this track!!!
This is the one of my facourite sids from my beginning on c-64. The one that when I hear, something positive is comming back.
Çok güzel olmuş.
Külli-ye mi izledin :D
Glyn R. Brown did an awesome remix of this tune
only 3 channels and yet it sounds so freaking deep
less is indeed more
i mean this is just preposterously, historically great. hall of fame stuff.
Awesome choon!
very nice
The best tune of Commodore C64, the second is tune from Commando by Rob Hubbard
i'm the 100th like! thank you for these videos
This was great thank you.
Yay thanks for uploading a new one
How old are those tunes? Those are 1980s, right? Timeless...
This feggin slaps
This reminds me of Duke Nukem 1, I played it on an emulator while listening to this XD
i am high enough for this!
What waveforms are combined to create the charpiscord style sound in the first track (that 'peaky' looking waveform)? Triangle and pulse?
Gordian Knot - How did Alexander The Great cut the Gordian Knot? ...hmmm....... ... with a SWORD and he became the master of Asia Minor. Can't get enough of this song, dude. Shit, thank you.
Damn, this shit is tight tight tight!!!!
26:00 Is beautiful
11:29 is heavenly
And I thought Tetris was long...
Beginning reminds me of Portal Series: Mel
Oh snap 30 minutes
13:24
My favorite part.
who?
What a masterpiece. Easily up there with the Tetris C64 theme.
I'm curious how on that track. Wally Beben got four audio channels and not just three???
Must have been a sample channel.
Finished at 13:00...
2:25 Main Theme
What kind of wave is that at the top?
Square wave with Resonance added through the filter.
It depends, each of the 3 Channels can be switched independently to different waveforms.

24:20 !!!
und das mit nur 3 spuren...
Where can i get this oscilloscope?
Kirby super Star ultra mod
What do you mean by no looping?
It means the song hasn't been set to repeat, but this is one single playthrough of the song. Since it's rather long, people might assume that it's put on repeat otherwise.
You're not Thomas Deters?
This an ncs content?
Give me a answer to use it in ambience bg of videos, if are agree always will be appear a banner with your credits

Tetris by Wally Beben has already been done. Look on this channel, it's somewhere.
Ahh bliss I remember this very well it from a free game tape called no mercy by zapp64 magazine. :)
