What an amazing story and the part about the sheeps wool sounds like something right out of the old testament 💙🙏🏻💙🙏🏾💙 i wonder sometimes if the reason Catholics pray to Saints as well as God is because of the sheer # of people on the Earth and maybe our Lord Jesus set it up like this purposely because of that. He keeps the kingdom in order and it gives each soul in Heaven a job to do as well. Thats just my 2 cents for today.
I am Mary Agnes Genevieve 💖 My paternal grandmother was Agnes Gallagher Hackett. She died when my father was 8 years old. He was raised by the Dominican Sisters of the Holy Rosary, Sparkill, NY at St. Agnes School for Boys.
St Agnes, 13, was one of the many child martyrs killed in the Diocletian persecution. Two others are also commemorated in the calendar, St Pancras [14, May 12] and St Catherine of Alexandria [16, November 25]. The Church should declare one of these days as a day of prayer for children and young people who suffer for the Faith today [for example those targeted by Boko Haram in Nigeria].
St Ambrose writing in the 4th century said she was 12. St Augustine thought she was 13 so must have had slightly different info. Ambrose was probably right though as his writings date closer to her death in 304.

Once Constantine the Great had made it finally safe to be Christian the state began to sponsor the building of churches, by 380 Christianity had been declared the state religion. Catholics believe in a Pope, that Simon Peter was the first Pope, but the term Pope was not originally used for a long time, it was simply the bishop of Rome. Not all Christians obviously accept that the Pope is the spiritual leader of Christendom. It depends largely on your understanding of the bible.

If you go to her church which was built over her tomb there's a marble slab there which has an image of her dating from the 4th century.
