Wow... Really nice, but... You could've put the TP4056 inside of the flashlight. And you actually doesn't need to change the resistor if you use a TP4056 with protection circuit. It menage the charge automatically. ;)
BTW, I use TP4056 and lithium batteries A LOT in my videos (but all of them are in Portuguese). And I discovered that a small hole over the hole for the micro USB port is more then enough to the charging LEDs. I just put a drop of hot glue in it. ;)
I would rather get cheap small battery pack it have small board with microUSB port and protection so you can use even 1-2A charger you just desolder big USB port plug led with resistors, get smaller battery and thats it. No need for charger station you just use any standard USB charger. I would also use 3-way switch and additional resistor so you could get one dimmer light mode but that would last longer.
What i not understand is why you not use the usb port directly in the device. These two part configuration looks a LITTLE BIT to much i think. But all in all is this a nice project. Thanks for sharing that with us !
Why make a separate charger? There was more than enough room for the tiny charger circuit in the flashlight itself. Not that it wasn't a nice project, but it could have been completely self-contained, with a USB charging port.

The protection only protects from excessive discharge. Resistor costs about $ 0.01, so there is no sense to risk
