I am amazed at the amount of time and forethought Khorne dedicated to this. Normally he comes across as a straightforward psychopath, I never pictured him as such a capable tempter.
limiting a chaos god to be an "unfathomably powerful brute" would kill all the prospects for exciting stories, it could easily turn boring and repetitive. sure he is violence incarnate, but we are talking about a lovecraftian level of existence, even the dullest of them has to be incomprehensibly intelligent/deceptive
@@kespec Though i have to question about your though of Khorne about deceptive can you explain more? cause i imagine it to be more in line to Tzeench and Slaanesh
He was trying to corrupt a primarch dude had to bring his A game. Plus you gotta remember Khorne's vast gestalt pysonic warp entity he mainly wants blood death and skulls but he's also far more intelligent than any mortal coul ever hope to be plus his thought processes would drive a human insane think not just on vast galaxy wide scales but also forwards and backwards through time.
After listening to this it makes sense that Roboute becomes Lord Commander after the Siege, he didn't want to do it anymore, he wanted to go out and fight.
"My brother, Dorn, has only ever known cages - duty, honour, strength. And for every bar of every cage that has been placed around him by someone else he has made those bars stronger. He has made his cages smaller and stronger until to spread his wings would rip him apart." The Khan understood his brother better than anyone else.
That’s the thing….. none of them did. It’s what made Peter turbo so angry. The ONLY thing he wanted to do was build. But instead all he ever got to do was tear things down.
@@cheeseex4322 And when Pertarabo finally had a chance to build something, Dorn charged in head first to tear it down. Probably very cathartic for Dorn if not sensible.
@@cheeseex4322 You say it like it vindicates Perty in any way. Many of the Primarchs made something of their lot in their lives, despite their paucity of choice. Instead he let it break him and drove him to do things in the most drudging, self-destructive way. Everyone noticed how Perty and his legion did things in the most difficult way possible out of spite.
I think that this really illustrates how sinister the Ruinous Powers are. One would think that Slaanesh or Tzeentch would be the ones to be in the mind promising what you desire or aspire to. Khorne can be just as tempting. He knows that some souls need to be honest with their darker nature, not simply with what they *believe* they want, but what they *know* they want in the deepest reaches of their being. For Khorne, slaughter in battle is pure and honest, that violence is the most basic means of survival in fallen universe. So, he uses that honesty to appeal to the soul. This makes him the eldest and most powerful of the Chaos Gods.
He is the strongest chaos god for a reason. He wants Rogal to be honest with what he wants. He chose to carve away every part of Dorn, until only honest instict remains, until isolation and loneliness wear away conscious thought. Dorn is tired, damn tired of the life he lived. However, he was raised in Inwit, where focus, duty, a logical mind and an unyielding spirit are the core values of his people. His heart remembers that and its his greatest defense against chaos.

It's no wonder really that Khorne would want the likes of Dorn as a champion. How satisfying it would be for Khorne to wear down such a monolithic will, seizing the moment to corner him in the perfect place to break the unbreakable and, in doing so, create possibly the most horrifying champion of chaos imaginable...
Honestly Khorne must be seething that he got someone as relatively useless as Angron as his champion. Dorn or Sanguineous would have been better Khorne pawns
I like that the power of Khorne is a function of how long it takes him to wear down your will. If you give in immediately, then your blessings are small and you are just cannon fodder. If it takes decades to wear you down, then you get the ultimate blessings. But I guess it comes out in war, where the most powerful demons have to wait a long time before they get to participate.

One of my favourite parts of end and the death. Khorne trying to corrupt Dorn was just so morbidly fascinating to me. I hope they bring this up if he returns or it gets referenced in scouring books. Even a primarch must have some major PTSD after an ordeal like that.
Now THERE would be a twist for you. Imagine if the reason he ultimately disappeared is... the Iron Cage and his continued failures finally got to him. Khorne, after all that time, finally got to him, and he finally fell. I don't think it'll play out that way, but it would be a very dark twist to his story that might make more sense after this scene.

Everyone likes to think they know someone's gimmick. "Blood for the Blood God, Skulls for the Skull throne." By that basis, you assume that's all there is to it. Other people tell you what he's like and what he seeks. But only the mightiest sits on a throne of bone. To be mighty, you have to excel at all the qualities that make you a warrior. Rage is power, but untempered, it's as much a hindrance as a power. Thought is a capability. Knowing where best to apply the axe, is as important as killing the thing you're fighting. Cleverness is important, because your armor won't always defend you from your enemy. You have to outthink the men in the bunker, by going through the wall, or get behind them. Allure. Every God has its allure, even in real life. Odin offers purpose, just as God does. Khorne is a strategist, a fighter, a warrior, a king. What good king can't make tempting offers to an unloved, but partially capable child? The emperor sure couldn't. That's a testament to Khorne, as much as Rogal. One, for his strategy. Two, for his loyalty.

Very strange dynamic, Khorne employing a scheme worthy of Tzeench to defeat the great Praetorian, Khorne once again proves that he is pathetic and Dorn wins again.
Tzeentch would likely have too many moving parts for his plan. Khorne on the other hand is being rather simple. He is using Dorn to defeat himself. His doubts, his stresses, the lies, the truths. Khorne is simply using Dorn and time. War changes people, some people break in fear while others thrive in the carnage.
The music is credited in the description. For these parts however I have edited them slightly myself to try and give a more unnatural or discordant feel to the Warp. My thanks for watching!
That's some awfully sus Tzeenitchy behavior of you Khorne~ you don't get much more tzeenitchier besides blatant lies, but gaslighting~ that's a khorneflake move.
Remember, Dorn can have a violent temper. Poor Nathaniel Garro was at the receiving end of it after reporting Horus' betrayal. I'm not anti-Dorn, I'm just saying that the Ruinous Powers can suss out every flaw.
While I agree, THIS is a short story I would have liked to see, in a separate release, at some point. It does the Warp, and the idea of demons and Khorne, and a P.T.-like personal hell, very well.
I would have never imagined they would take a battle between a primarch and a chaos god in just a drasticly boring direction. Odd choice imo. We've had decades of tedious and bland Dorn. Instead of going an interesting and new direction with the hero here, they instead bring the god of blood and skulls and actionable violence down to Dorn's tedious counting and the blandness of sand level. They presented us with Khorne: The Malicious Whisper. I feel like somebody at GW should be slapped for this..
Just because you don't like things taking time to happen doesn't mean it's bad. This shows a different side of both Dorn and Khorne and I think it's amazing.
