I have a "kink" for red lipsticks so I own about 20-30 of the same colour. In my opinion the colour is not the only thing thats important. It's also the texture, if it lasts long and if you can wipe it of easily. So it's actually not bad to own a fEw more than one.

But I do have to say, sometimes I prime my lips and they look somewhat pale, so a pink lip us good.
I also have to add that the continuous lip scrubbing you had to do remove the previous lip colour, may influence in how different they look.
