I haven't been inside chinese cemetery.. Thanks for the vid! You may want to check out ayala museum where they kept our ancestor's Gold which is really amazing and gives clue to the rich pre-hispanic history of the Philippines.
Since you are doing the old manila walks, i think they also have a food walk, through the oldest chinatown in the world. Binondo walk i think. Prepare your stomach for some good food and some strange ones as well, (its not that strange, dont worry)
So happy to be able to share a different side to the Philippines with the world! Thanks for watching, hope you'll be able to watch all our other PH vlogs! Theres 20 now ruclips.net/video/K3lDAtwYt_4/видео.html
+Miri M Thank you! Truth is, first time we came to Manila we just had a few days in transit and didnt do much but we learnt that was a mistake. This time around we wanted to show the world the history, the culture, the cool areas like BGC and the malls etc. So happy we could share it!
Thats so accurate. We've had Filipinos comment recently saying 'wow, didnt know Manila was like that!'.. thats sort of crazy to us! We're so happy we can show the world, and the Filipinos, that theres much more to see in Manila.
I lived in Manila for 5 years when I was studying and despite it being old and smelly, it's still my favorite city in the Metropolis. It has a very rich history and charm like no other city in the Metro.
Good to see you exploring Manila when others are avoiding it due to traffic, chaos and what have you. If not for the destructive war, it was considered as the Paris of Asia.
It was so interesting learning the history of this area. No amount of traffic or chaos could stop us from exploring & learning. We love the Philippines and plan on coming back a third time! You guys cant get rid of us haha
"it was considered as the Paris of Asia?"....another pinoy pride chicken comment...LoL. If the Japanese can rebuild Hiroshima which was blasted, destroyed and literally wiped out from the face of the earth with an atomic bomb, a fate 100x worse than manila during WW2. Why can't they rebuild manila as you just mentioned...."as the Paris of Asia" .....i love pinoy pride chicken, it's very yummy =)
Raptor Gonzo The philippines is being developed(or as you say rebuilt),there are a lot of projects by the current administration.I don't blame you for thinking that way,and not believing. But japan had more resources to rebuild the damages compared to the Philippines, and I think there are more significant,or relevant problems that the Philippines faced and is facing know rather than rebuilding what was destroyed. You can only make something that is destroyed more better than what it was, never expect to bring it back as it was before,it's like fixing a broken glass. The out come is never the same as it looked before.Just saying
Guys, my parents watched all of your Philippines video and they actually told me they helped them to feel better about my 3 months there. No more stupid stereotypes! I'm happy! Flying out in 2 days, super excited!
The history of the Philippines is far more interesting than we hear in the west about wwii. The galleon trade between Manila and Acapulco was the worlds first scheduled trade route. Many customs and cultural festivals come from Mexico not Spain. Manila was built by Spanish, once occupied by British, taken from Philippines by Americans, occupied by Japanese and bombed to nothing again by Americans. The Filipino people have endured much and yet are always resilient. It took 50 years after José Rizal ‘s death to gain true independence.
Two things I ❤️ about this video: 1. Intramuros ...I graduated in one of the schools there so it's very very close to my heart. 2. Old Manila Walks ...Ivan is the man. I've been planning to book a tour with him almost each time that I go back to Manila but it's just so difficult to make our schedules work. I'm very glad you guys were able to experience both! 😊
Daneger and Stacey I'm not sure if he's famous. But he's been featured on TV before for his unique way of touring people around Manila. Then, several years ago, he would even wear a costume while doing so--in character, that's how I'd put it. He impresses me as someone who really knows what he's talking about.
It's good that you have shown the historical aspect of the Philippines. Your vlogs are quite comprehensive, it covers the countryside, the city and now, the historical side.
Thanks Erlando, the Philippines is such a diverse country we try to show as many sides as we can! We also have a lot of vlogs from the beautiful islands - You can see them here: ruclips.net/p/PLUDuSYCnVh-TVZVpoq12aKHzJjH8JRMhN
When you come back to the Philippines, schedule some time to go to Casa Manila Museum inside Intramuros, the National Museum near Rizal Park, the University of Santo Tomas Museum, the Ayala Museum, the Armed Forces of the Philippines Museum, the Gateway Art Gallery in Cubao, then south to Villa Escudero, the University of the Philippines Diliman Campus, the Quezon Memorial Circle, and La Mesa Dam Eco-Park. It will take you a few days plus side trips into the nearby malls for meals.
Wow so many amazing recommendations, thank you for taking the time to let us know! They sound like great places to learn even more about the history. Thanks for watching :)
wow, u r entering into a documentary video making mate... i think ur viewers need a variety... amazing info u shared about a piece of history of the country... well done...
Looking back on this one, yeah, a bit different and more informative than our others maybe but we really enjoyed it! Hope it was still cool to watch something a bit different? Thanks !
This is the most informative vlog I've watched from a foreign vlogger/youtuber/traveller.Hope you explore the northern part of our country next time.God bless.
🏆❤️ This comment makes us SOOO happy, thanks Normita! Glad to hear we're showing a new and detailed view of the PH and Manila. Just noticed you commented on one of our OLD vlogs from the reasons to visit the PH, glad you're back watching us again! Check all of our others as well from this trip: ruclips.net/video/K3lDAtwYt_4/видео.html Reply ·
AMAZING!! That is what we love hearing, we want people to feel like they're part of our journey and the days experience. We've got lots more like this, check our other 20 vlogs from the PH! ruclips.net/video/K3lDAtwYt_4/видео.html
I was born in Manila. Been out of the country for over 30 years now! Am living in Rural NZ now . NZ and Philippines are both similar in that they have such varied and amazing geographical landscape! As Finn Snow said in one of his blogs, only New Zealand beats the Philippines in terms of natural beauty! I have seen quite a bit of the world in my younger days and I agree with him. In terms of history and natural disasters though, the Philippines has had experienced some really harsh times compared to NZ! But there is a lot of similarities in both Kiwis and Filipinos in terms of friendliness and respect and close family orientation. Both are also hardworking and have a knack for making do with what's available . Kiwi ingenuity and all that.
Thats an awesome back story Jaz! Definitely some similarities between the two, but the Filipino people are MUCH nicer from our perspective haha. Kiwi ingenuity is real, we love that haha. Maybe thats why we vibe so well with the Philippines :) Either way, thanks for watching.
We only recently learnt that and it really surprised us! Interesting note, we're going to Poland in a few months time!! Hope you'll stay subbed and watch our adventures there as well.
Apparently you haven't heard of a place called Hiroshima.....they were not only destroyed but literally wipe out from the face of the earth. Look at Hiroshima now.....
@@raptorgonzo4666 This was an old saying after WWII as far as allied cities are concerned. Obviously, as the victors make history. So as it was, Warsaw was the most destroyed (allied) city in WWII and 2nd allied city was Manila. Of course, Hiroshima and Nagasaki were not placed in this same category because they were on the losing (Axis) side. Also, the main difference between Warsaw/Manila and the two Japanese cities was that there was an actual battle that occurred in Warsaw and Manila, block by block, street by street, house by house and hand to hand fighting and many atrocities committed by the Germans on the Polish and the Japanese on the Filipinos. Nagasaki and Hiroshima, on the other hand, were destroyed by an Atomic Bomb, far more destructive but very impersonal as it was dropped by two B-29s. I'm not disagreeing with you as to what city was more destroyed or justifying anything. Just explaining why people mostly western countries believe about Warsaw and Manila in WWII and not accounting for the Japanese two cities destroyed by a far more destructive nature. You can probably add a lot more cities like Tokyo or Dresden into the mix. The common thing is death, destruction and human suffering on all of them.
👍👍I have seen countless videos of Manila and the metro area, but this is the 1st that I've found that showed "Old Manila". I vaguely remember hearing about it once many years ago when I lived in the Phillipines briefly as a child, but never saw it, and only remember the Airport that was there at that time.( I was only like 11 at the time) This is why I love watching these videos, every one is it's own learning experience. 😎
I studied in Intramuros for 4 years! I remember my uni life! Haha.. If you go back here in Manila do the Binondo food tour! Kudos to another chill and relaxed vlog 🙂
What! That's awesome Zar! We love a good food tour so will definitely add that to our growing list of recommendations for next time. Thanks for watching & commenting as always!
The entirety of Manila was like that pre-1940s. Cobbled streets and all. But the city was destroyed almost completely during WW2 by both Japanese and American bombers. Sadly, the city planners didn't elect to rebuild the old Spanish Filipino architecture, instead opting for more "modern" buildings. Their shortsightedness led to the loss of so much culture and history. Intramuros isn't even "Old Manila", it's just the walled part where the fort was located (like a castle town). The only Filipino city which preserved much of those architecture is Vigan in Ilocos. Also Manila was chosen as the capital because it has one of the largest natural harbors in the world - Manila Bay - where galleons from the Acapulco trade are protected from typhoons.
If Manileños will rebuild and restore the old city of Manila and convert it to Heritage city, everyone will see how beautiful Manila is. It will invite tourism and business and will help providing jobs to people. Manila has so much potential because of its heritage and history.
Hello Daneger and Stacey! I was born in Manila, and I live in Costa Rica. I grew up and studied in that city, and seeing those sites often when I was growing up, I kinda thought about it as normal thing and never really paid too much attention (unless they have cool parties happening there in Intramuros), but it is refreshing to see this video and hear your commentaries. It is like being there again, but with fresh eyes! I am glad that you appreciated the place.
Nice to meet ya Eugene! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Awesome that you're in Costa Rica, I (Dane) spent a few months there a couple of years back... think some where around Tamarindo from memory. Anyway, glad we could show you and remind you how cool Manila and the history is!
You earned my respect! Vloggers normally want to go to south and enjoy the beaches and islands. But little they know that luzon have many things to offer.I am a filipino but by far my favorite destination in the Philippines are Palaui and Batanes island.Yes Palawan is more popular not to mention. But if you like solitude go to Batanes and Palaui islands.
We love hearing that we've earned the respect of the local people 🙌🏽 We still embraced the beach culture & the beautiful islands of Palawan but you're right, there is so much more to your beautiful country. Thank you for watching & for the suggestions :)
Hello Dane and Stacey, it's your subscriber here in California! You guys are so awesome! A very detailed and great vlog you guys have here. This is my third video I've watched of you and subscribed upon stumbling on the second video I saw, which was when you guys were in BGC. From what I have seen so far, this has been the most educational and fun to watch. I really found this interesting because I also learned a lot from it. I used to live there in Manila and moved to Cali when I was 10 (now I'm 38). So watching this brought the nostalgia back when my family once visited Intramuros (back when I didn't really care about the information and just wanted to play with my cousins). Thank you guys again for creating such great content! God bless you both! 👍😊😉
This. This right here is the sort of stuff that brings us so much joy. Stories like yours just inspire us to keep creating and exploring. We love that we could show you some insights into what it's like and it brings back cool memories for you.. all with out needing to visit personally. Thanks for watching and showing us some love 🙌🏼
Intramuros is truly epic and so are you guys! I can tell you're not just the typical travelers/vloggers who would just go straight to the islands and beaches of the Philippines to party, chill & vlog. I appreciate your desire to get to know more of Manila & our city's history. I also admire & appreciate the variety in your content and the quality of your vlogs. I can see I'm not the only one who does with the overwhelming response & positive feedback of your audience in the comments, haha! I guess your efforts were rewarded for featuring the City of Manila and for putting up this high quality & entertaining vlog. Your editing & cinematic shots were absolutely beautiful! I'm curious though if Fort Santiago was not included in your tour of Intramuros. Your tour of Old Manila will not be complete if you haven't seen Fort Santiago, haha! Trust me, Fort Santiago also has so much history & soul and will definitely give you more beautiful & cinematic shots! Next time you're in Intramuros, make sure to check out the Sky Deck View Bar at the top of the The Bayleaf Hotel in Intramuros. The Sky Deck can give you a panoramic view of Intramuros and the City of Manila and you can watch the sunset from there and have a romantic dinner thereafter with the Manila skyline & city lights as your background, haha! Sorry I can't help it, I guess I'm an old soul and a hopeless romantic by heart, lol! Btw, you have earned my subscription and very deservedly so!
So much epicness in one comment!! THANK YOU! So great to have you watching, sharing your thoughts and saying hello - salamat ✌🏼 We definitely try and mix up the content to show different sides, new things, variation and just keep things interesting, glad you noticed and appreciate it :) Wish we knew about the Sky Deck Bar! We did stay at the hotel with the Firefly rooftop bar last time in Makati and just love those awesome street views at night time.
Thats actually what we did when we first came to Manila a year ago, wanted to take the advice we got from that time and show our sub a different side to the city! Glad we could share it :)
We only recently learnt that and it really surprised us! Interesting note, we're going to Poland in a few months time!! Hope you'll stay subbed and watch our adventures there as well.
Philippines have a very interesting history as many had laid their eyes on it from different parts of the world and tried to conquer it. It had also been the richest country in southeast asia for many decades before WWII. However, the war caused too much damages and only few remains are evident. People had tried to forget as well.
Hey guys, it was nice of you to show history in old manila, you really show us a range of sun, sea, sand and education with your vlogs. Travelling is not only about experience but education. Something was missing in this vlog......ahhhh yes your coffee.lol Happy travels
Yes, coffee, what a messed up vlog with no coffee! Actually though, from memory we didnt even have one on this morning - thats shocking haha. Thanks again for your comments
Manila was once called Paris of the Orient or Asia, it was a beautiful City, but almost all structures was destroyed during World War 2 The rebuilding costs would be so great that the American grant us Independence rather to rebuild the city or other areas destroyed by the War. For the Cemeteries, during Nov 1 and 2, we Filipino, gather family member to remember our dead, praying for their souls and remembering their life's lessons. Thank you for Visiting My City of Birth, Manila !!!
Usually, comment first prior to checking the video. After watching, I could say that this is the best cover of Intramuros. You guys are excellent storytellers, so many details were put into proper perspective. Cheers!
Thanks Mark, thats a huge comment and definitely made us smile! Love hearing stuff like that. Thanks for watching and leaving positive vibes in the comments.
This is an awesome tour. And for sure it's difficult to put snippets of information with all that history. I love this. Museums have become my thing offlate due to the history of it.
Travellers Relish we too have capiz shell windows in our house. Pretty normal for houses pattern after Spanish-era design. But it’s very rare nowadays especially in the urban centers.
Hi Daneger & Stacy 1st of all i would like to say to u guys that i enjoyed watching all the videos u have about the Phillipines, i appreciate ur enthusiasm to learn more about the culture, history, food and its people and happy to know that u enjoyed ur stay here in the Phil. experiencing the island life and be captivated by the natural beauty our country has to offer, i know u already left but I'm sure u brought with u tons of happy memories during ur stay here in the Philippines as they say " It's more fun in the Philippines ".. ..thanks guys so much for visiting the PH and hope u come back again and travel other parts of the country but for now i wish nothing but the best for both of you guys and may u have more blessings and videos to come!...more power and God bless :-).
Hey Rommel - thanks for the awesome comment! We appreciate you taking the time to watch a collection of our experiences! There's so much more for us to see in the PH, will have to come back again in the future to visit and show the world more of what makes the PH so special.
We might have to move to the Philippines because there are SO many more places we want to explore! Thank you for the recommendations! We love you toooo 💖
awesome video! i've never been to intramuros nor the chinese cementery. but very informative video over all. those shell windows reminded me so much about my grandparents old house from back in the day. and the chinese cementery probably looked quiet and dead now but come back during holloween and most cemeteries in the philippines usually gets really packed. a time for paying respects to all families that passed on. and usually it almost becomes like a family reunion where everyone gathers and spends time in the musoleum. but for the rest of the year it pretty much stays quiet just how you guys saw it. except for birthdays, anniversaries and most of the time special occassions that family members would come and visit the loved ones that passed on. and that would explain the bathrooms and kitchen in the musoleum... welll ok... im sure you've heard that already but just to kind of give my own take and experience on it.. thanks! awesome videos! safe travels!
Thanks Ronnie! Such an intersting place isnt it! We'd never heard anything like it, sounds like your experience lines up with everything we learnt on the day as well.
The "Old Manila" was bombed heavily during World War 2. It was the 2nd most devastated city in the world after Warsaw in Poland with a death toll of over 150,000 citizens. The city has never recovered its former glory since then. Only a few heritage structures were restored. Many illegal settlers have settled and slums have sprouted like mushroom (I'm sure you saw a lot of them during your tour). If you want to see how Manila once looked like, you can visit "Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar." Take note that it is only a replica of the old Manila but the best place we've got for now that resembles the old Manila for foreigners to experience its old world charm.
Watching this wants me to revisit Manila again 😊 I haven't been to some of the places like San Agustin museum. I'm binge watching your vlogs guys! Thanks for coming up with an awesome vlog! More power to you!
Kapis or Windowpane shell is a flattened bivalve (Placuna placenta) with thin, white, translucent shells that were put into window frames to allow light to get in. They were also polished to show the nacre (mother-of-pearl) iridescent colors and then layered on tabletop items and covered with varnish as decoration. Unfortunately, over-harvesting has led to a downfall in the industry so items like those are now rare and expensive.
This kinds of videos are the reason why I prefer watching you compared to the channels that inspired you! AFAIK you two are the only ones that shows some culture and history of the place you visited on your vlogs. Most of the vloggers I know are only showcasing breathtaking scenery and their adventure which is nice and cool. But as a viewer, as much as I enjoy sightseeing, I appreciate it more when they took a lot of effort to learn history and to show glimpses of culture, way of life, what it's like to live there and etc.
Such incredible feedback, thanks Kenneth!! That's a high standard to hold us to, makes us worried we cant keep our position there :P No but seriously, we're pleased you can see we make an effort to share more info when we can. Not always easy, and our travels definitely are a mixture of all sorts as well, but it's cool to know that people notice when we produce a video with more thought, consideration and history behind it. So thanks for saying so :)
So cool! I studied college in Manila and I've been to Intramuros a few times for a school project. It was so epic! One of the cities very dear to my heart
im a Filipino now living in Sydney, and ive never been to Intramuros. the last few trips back home has always been about shopping. thanks for this video and sharing your experience!
Dane ans Stacey thank you for appreciating and showing the beauty of the Philippines. You both have an awesome personality that always gives me good vibes every time I watch your videos. I wish you all the best on your next adventure and be safe always.
Dane kinda resemble Ronan Keating at some angles and Stacey looks like Sierra of Alex and Sierra who won the X Factor U.S. Lol great vlog btw as always! 👍🏻
What i liked about your videos are there are so much to listen and learn (professional). Much of the videos i have watch commonly shows that vloggers were enjoying there stay and finding cool stuff to do but yours really worth looking forward in every second. I cant stand not to listen to every words being uttered because there's so much to learn. Keep making videos.
Great vlog guys. It's nice to know you have immersed yourself to the history of Manila although it was only around Intramuros but I'm pretty sure your guide gave you every bit of information about the history of the Philippines in general. Intramuros comes from 2 Spanish words 'intra' meaning inside and 'muros' which means walls. It is the main town of Spanish Manila and where the Spanish colonial government is centered. Outside the walls refers to 'extramuros' where native Filipinos live. And yes, Manila was not the first capital of the country, apparently it was Cebu in Central Philippines. If you haven't been there you should visit because that's where the Philippines as a country all began. It is the oldest city in the country established by the Spaniards and where the famous explorer Ferdinand Magellan met his actual death in the hands of a local chieftain. Needless to say, Cebu is equally important as Manila in terms of history and culture.
Hey Keirro - yup we learnt a lot of that and even mentioned it all in the vlog so other people (who dont know) can learn also. We have been to Cebu, but only briefly in our vlogs from last year : ruclips.net/video/U2QcoDTvV88/видео.html
Sadly didnt get to spend long in Cebu, just in transit and we were exhausted! Next time we need to do a proper tour of Cebu just like this video to explore the city.
You guys would likely enjoy the tour at Las Casas in Batanes. A collector has taken old Spanish-era houses and structures from all over the country and rebuilt all of them using the original pieces and restored them to their original looks in this tiny town. You can see the home of the national hero's mom. Theyll also walk you through the slave's corridors. All of the restoration work provides jobs for hundreds of local workers. You can have a tour of their workshops too. One of the people who heads the sculpting is a student of National Artist Botong Francisco. And any excesses and waste like wood chips from a sculpture, and even the kitchen waste from the restaurants, gets reused for the brick making. It's an amazing collection of houses. They also have a gondola ride. And you can also stay overnight at some beach front houses.
I really enjoyed this, so rich in culture & heritage. We've definitely got mausoleums back home, but not on that scale wow! Stace looks extra stunning in that 👚PS. The subs are climbing 13 k 👌
We genuinely really enjoyed it as well, a good mix up for us and so good to learn more about the places we visit... we should do this sort of thing more often! Haha Stacey is flattered, thank you ❤️ Subs are definitely flying at the mo, our BGC video is 60,000 plus views (reposted by the city and high streets social media helped drive that!) and the subs are flying in.. Wooo!
Thank you so much for visiting the Philippines! Staying in Manila is usually not recommended for tourists but I'm glad you are patient enough to explore Intramuros. Intramuros is my favorite place in Manila. If ever you visit our country again, try Batanes, it's a really beautiful paradise.
We can see why Intramuros would be your favourite place in Manila, there are so many peaceful areas around there for a nice escape from the city. We will definitely be back so thank you for the recommendation, we will add it to our list!
Daneger and Stacey thanks for the response. Batanes is actually the northernmost province in the Philippines. It's relatively closer to Taiwan than the major Philippine island, Luzon. Skyjet, Philippine Airlines, and AirSwift have flights from Manila to Basco, Batanes. The roundtrip ticket usually costs 150-300 USD. The best time to visit is Dec to May because it is usually stormy there. The landscape there looks like the mountains and hills in Iceland, Ireland, and New Zealand. There are lesser people there and there is no mobile data and no internet connection. Good luck and more power to both of you. :)
Another trivia is that Manila has been flattened by the Japanese during the world war2. but before the war got in Manila. We are the only country in the world who opened up our doors for refuge, for the European Jews and saved 1,300 lives. and it's the right thing to do. Thanks for the Heart =)
Tnx very much for ur tym n effort for this humble simple country... we r not rich nor hi tech .. we can offer only our friendship n hospitality... do always xtra care... god bless both of in ur journey in lyf.... MABUHAY...
Salamat Cherry! The Filipino culture is amazing, warm and welcoming... we love it and the country! Glad you're enjoying the videos. If you're new you might not have seen our other 20 PH vlogs! Check em out ruclips.net/video/K3lDAtwYt_4/видео.html
Cool that we could share some memories with you! Feel free to catch our other vlogs before this one from the PH if you'd like to see more from us anyway 🙌🏼 ruclips.net/video/K3lDAtwYt_4/видео.html
...good that your learning about the history of the philippines even only in parts i highly appreciate your effort to know some knowledge about the philippines thank you much most tourist in the philiippines saying they exploring philippines but i believe most tourist are exploiting rather than exploring i maybe wrong but its the way i see it
Loved this! Hope you get to Taal Town in Batangas. It's a place where Filipino vintage houses still exist and are in active use. It's a whole town of old world Philippines still in livable conditions. It's 2 - 3 hours away from Makati. Not sure if you've been to Tagaytay, but it's in that area of southern Luzon with scenic areas and interesting locations.
Thanks guys for your inspirational vlogs - so practical as well. I have lived in Penang and now my husband and I are planning a 6 to 12 month exploration in SE Asia looking for a potential home for an early retirement (thinking Penang or Hoi An atm), obviously we are a bit older than you guys. We're on a budget but have simple expectations, we love our food and we love beaches.... Watching your vlogs from the Phillipines have impressed, and therefore confused, me. Now the Phillipines must be added to the mix! Given your experiences, I'd love to hear your advice!
Thanks so much Tiff! Every where is amazing from our perspective in one way or another, but no where is perfect sadly. Hoi An is cute and has a beach, but internet is not great and grocery shopping is tough (markets only). Boracay is amazing, but pricier than the rest, food in PH is nice but not as good as Nam or Thailand. Chiang Mai is an amazing mix of cost, food, ease of living, slow pace... but no beach! Somewhere to consider is Danang, just north of Hoi An. Adds the ease of super markets and access to cinemas and malls etc plus more restaurants, close to Hoi An and still has a beach.
Hi daneger and stacey i sad to say goodbye huhuhuhu i hope you enjoy to travel hete in the philippines and i hope you comeback again i love your all video here in philippines i keep watching your vplog everywhere you go alway support
Thank you Rheyzon! You've been there from the start commenting and enjoying, glad you've liked the PH vlogs, we will be back again to see Siargao and more!
I would also recommend the tour of Carlos Celdran on Intramuros. "If walls could talk." You'll surely have a great insight also of history of my country. The way Carlos Celdran would present it is very theatrical. Must see this.
Thank you for featuring the other side of the Philippines. We have a very interesting history that people/tourist should learn. Again Thank you. I found your Vlog very interesting!
Hey friends Daneger and stacey, there's a big Festival here in Aklan it's Called Ati-Atihan, this is the mother of all festival in the Philippines it's celebrated for over 800+ years. Its free for all Street dancing. 1 week of festival u will love it.
Have you also tried the tour in Corregidor? If you haven't, try it next time you visit Manila. If Intramuros is about Spanish colonial times, Corregidor is more about World War II.
Your very welcome! And i really did enjoy watching it simple but full of knowledge for sure not only me but many of your viewers learned and love this vlog! God bless!
Your tour guide was also the one who accompanied Anthony Bourdain when he was in the Philippines. Your vlogs are great, and you earned a new subscriber. Keep it up! 🤙🏼
We had no idea at the time, such a casual guy he didnt say anything! Thanks for the sub! Sadly this is near the end of our PH trip this time (weve been 2 times now!) but you can catch up on the 20 vlog prior to these here: goo.gl/nLKo3s
Nice vlog! It's great that you have learned the rich history of Manila. Been living in Manila for almost 35 years. Studied in Intramuros and my family visits our dear Angkong (Grandpa) in the Chinese cemetery.

Daneger and Stacey
amazing.
Daneger and Stacey
i hope you'll visit binondo and the oldest China town in the World.
Since you are doing the old manila walks, i think they also have a food walk, through the oldest chinatown in the world. Binondo walk i think. Prepare your stomach for some good food and some strange ones as well, (its not that strange, dont worry)
Not all foreign visitors attempt to get to know the history of the places they visit here in the Philippines. Kudos to you, guys!
So happy to be able to share a different side to the Philippines with the world! Thanks for watching, hope you'll be able to watch all our other PH vlogs! Theres 20 now ruclips.net/video/K3lDAtwYt_4/видео.html
True💖 they also miss our mountains and fiestas 😅
thanks for showing the world that there are things to see in Manila. It's not the best city ever, but I'm tired of people saying "skip Manila"
+Miri M Thank you! Truth is, first time we came to Manila we just had a few days in transit and didnt do much but we learnt that was a mistake. This time around we wanted to show the world the history, the culture, the cool areas like BGC and the malls etc. So happy we could share it!

I lived in Manila for 5 years when I was studying and despite it being old and smelly, it's still my favorite city in the Metropolis. It has a very rich history and charm like no other city in the Metro.
Joe Marie Rodriguez Mongcal I'm from Cebu but I really like the vibe of Manila. I'm always excited everytime I go to Manila.
+Ria Verdolaga We can understand that, more so this time than our last visit. Exploring the city we got to see a lot more of its story!
It was
"it was considered as the Paris of Asia?"....another pinoy pride chicken comment...LoL.
Yeah it was once called the "Paris of Asia"
Guys, my parents watched all of your Philippines video and they actually told me they helped them to feel better about my 3 months there. No more stupid stereotypes! I'm happy! Flying out in 2 days, super excited!
Haha this has got to be one of the best success stories around our channel ever. Good to hear!
Two things I ❤️ about this video:
We had no idea he was so popular at the time, he's a casual guy and kept his fame all quiet haha!
We also have a lot of vlogs from the beautiful islands - You can see them here: ruclips.net/p/PLUDuSYCnVh-TVZVpoq12aKHzJjH8JRMhN
manila is amazing , i will visit soon , cheers from Vietnam
Check all of our others as well from this trip: ruclips.net/video/K3lDAtwYt_4/видео.html

Yes this is why I keep on checking my notifications. I love their vlogs.
Thanks Gina!!
Daneger and Stacey I had watched all your vlogs about the Philippines
I felt like I went in a tour with both of you. Getting history education of the Philippines is precious.
AMAZING!! That is what we love hearing, we want people to feel like they're part of our journey and the days experience. We've got lots more like this, check our other 20 vlogs from the PH! ruclips.net/video/K3lDAtwYt_4/видео.html
Will do , and thanks! I wished both of you could stay a little bit longer in the Philipines. :-(
We wish we could have stayed longer as well, 2 months wasnt long enough!! Next time we will be back to visit more!
That will be great!
Thanks for touring us inside the chinese cemetery. Never been there yet.
I am a Chinese-Filipino. My great grandmother was buried there in the Chinese cemetery. My dad and grandma used to bring us there yearly. :)
Manila is the 2nd most destroyed city after warsaw during ww2
We only recently learnt that and it really surprised us! Interesting note, we're going to Poland in a few months time!! Hope you'll stay subbed and watch our adventures there as well.
Apparently you haven't heard of a place called Hiroshima.....they were not only destroyed but literally wipe out from the face of the earth. Look at Hiroshima now.....
Just to correct, 4th most destroyed after Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and Warsaw
That's true!
Stoked we can show you something different, or remind you of the area at least! Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching.
BOMBS, CHURCHES & CEMETERIES, INTRAMUROS OLD MANILA WALKS TOUR, also known as THE INDISPENSABLE GUIDE TO LESSONS ON HISTORY WHILE LOOKING FABULOUS
Hahahahah thanks brother!
You should visit the north part of luzon. Batanes, ilocos, baguio city and banaue rice terraces.
Thanks Alena - we keep hearing about Luzon and Batanes... a lot! Will have to visit next time.
Agree with doing a Binondo walking/food tour. It's the oldest China Town in the world. :)
your tour guide is actually the same man Anthony Bourdane uses as his food tour guide in manila
+LuvMyLilBabe Really? Thats crazy, Ivan didnt tell us that haha
Why is everyone not watching this. This is sooooo nice. Not the cliche vlog. Keep it up guys.
Appreciate that, thanks
Such an awesome and crazy history - we honestly didnt know half of what we do now before this tour!!
Thanks for this informative comment
Glad you decided to stop by Manila and vlog about this tour. A lot of tourists tend to skip this because they think there’s nothing to see in Manila 😅
Thats actually what we did when we first came to Manila a year ago, wanted to take the advice we got from that time and show our sub a different side to the city! Glad we could share it :)
Manila is the second most bombed and wrecked city in the world next to Poland during world war II.
We only recently learnt that and it really surprised us! Interesting note, we're going to Poland in a few months time!! Hope you'll stay subbed and watch our adventures there as well.
oh the video is literally awesome..both of you had mastered the Philippine history.thumbs up!👍
That makes us so proud to hear! It was genuinely so interesting for us to learn. Thank you for watching!
we hope you could comeback and explore , the friendly islands, the modern and old cities and the warm love of the people. 💏
We will Manny - lts more to explore!!
Philippines have a very interesting history as many had laid their eyes on it from different parts of the world and tried to conquer it. It had also been the richest country in southeast asia for many decades before WWII. However, the war caused too much damages and only few remains are evident. People had tried to forget as well.
Visit Okada Manila and watch the fountain show. The fountain show is at night though. Bunch of restaurants there too around the casino.
That sounds awesome, thanks so much for the recommendation!
Another amazing fact. The Philippines was named after King Philip II of Spain. Can’t wait for your next blog.
Hey guys, it was nice of you to show history in old manila, you really show us a range of sun, sea, sand and education with your vlogs. Travelling is not only about experience but education. Something was missing in this vlog......ahhhh yes your coffee.lol
Happy travels
The first and oldest chinatown in the world is in the Philippines which is Binondo.
Interesting to know, thanks for the info and for watching!
I AM SERIOUSLY OBSESSED WITH YOUR VLOGS😍
Thanks so much 🙌🏼
This is an awesome tour. And for sure it's difficult to put snippets of information with all that history.
I love this. Museums have become my thing offlate due to the history of it.
Definitely tough to share information, but it's worth it! Thanks again guys
Travellers Relish we too have capiz shell windows in our house. Pretty normal for houses pattern after Spanish-era design. But it’s very rare nowadays especially in the urban centers.
*patterned
Why not visit Baguio City or Vigan next time? It’s beautiful over there. BTW love you both ❤️😍
We might have to move to the Philippines because there are SO many more places we want to explore! Thank you for the recommendations! We love you toooo 💖
This is indeed a most educational vlog done in a most educated manner and without the hyperbolic adjectives that seem to distract viewers. Thank you.
awesome video! i've never been to intramuros nor the chinese cementery. but very informative video over all. those shell windows reminded me so much about my grandparents old house from back in the day. and the chinese cementery probably looked quiet and dead now but come back during holloween and most cemeteries in the philippines usually gets really packed. a time for paying respects to all families that passed on. and usually it almost becomes like a family reunion where everyone gathers and spends time in the musoleum. but for the rest of the year it pretty much stays quiet just how you guys saw it. except for birthdays, anniversaries and most of the time special occassions that family members would come and visit the loved ones that passed on. and that would explain the bathrooms and kitchen in the musoleum... welll ok... im sure you've heard that already but just to kind of give my own take and experience on it.. thanks! awesome videos! safe travels!
Thanks Ronnie! Such an intersting place isnt it! We'd never heard anything like it, sounds like your experience lines up with everything we learnt on the day as well.
Watching your vlogs is like watching a travel show on tv...impressive!!!
Coolest comment, thanks so much haha
Thank you both. I only learnt Philipin history in book and never seen literary..! I miss Philipins a lot..! My country.
Thanks Aimee - glad we can show you some cool spots and remind you of some others. Thanks for watching :)
Wow my favorite Historical places like lntramuros and the Manila cathedral.fantastic video
That window, even our house have the windows like that until now.
Oh really? So its pretty normal? First time we've seen, we think..
Thank you for coming to our country. Hope you'd come back and explore more 😊😊😊
This kinds of videos are the reason why I prefer watching you compared to the channels that inspired you!
I'm still impressed with this chanel very professional....
Love hearing that, thanks so much! Some more awesome stuff to come, hope you'll follow along in Taiwan and beyond as well🤙🏼
Oh your guide is one of the famous tour guides in the Philippines.
Ivan was such a cool dude, reallllly knows his history and loves this stuff!
He was always featured in travel shows when I was in uni.
Where can we get a tour guide about historical places to go in Manila or nearby places?
im a Filipino now living in Sydney, and ive never been to Intramuros. the last few trips back home has always been about shopping. thanks for this video and sharing your experience!
its good to visit some parts of Philippines like Mt.Pinatubo, and Nasugbu beach
The last time I went to Intramuros was when I was in Grade 1 haha, tho I visit Manila weekly
Good news is you sort of just got to go again, with US! Haha thanks so much
Dane ans Stacey thank you for appreciating and showing the beauty of the Philippines. You both have an awesome personality that always gives me good vibes every time I watch your videos. I wish you all the best on your next adventure and be safe always.
Thanks Omar, awesome comment brother. Hope you'll keep following along with our adventures after the PH as well - thanks!
wow I live here in ph but it was my first time seeing and knowing about that chinese cemetery wow.!!!
Pretty cool place huh! Apparently it gets really busy on puplic holidays and everyone cooking and hanging out paying respects
Dane kinda resemble Ronan Keating at some angles and Stacey looks like Sierra of Alex and Sierra who won the X Factor U.S. Lol great vlog btw as always! 👍🏻
Haha this is funny. I normally get told I look like Diplo, you seen him before? Will go and google Alex and Sierra now haha
Daneger and Stacey googled Diplo and yea you look like his twin but i’d still say Ronan for the body hahaha
Loved hearing that - thanks Carlo!! Glad youre enjoying
Wow kiaora guys,. Thanks for visiting
Salamat! 🙌🏼
Check the american cemetery in its open to the public.near bgc McKinley road close to grand canal
Man we found out about this place too late, wish we had the time to go!
Daneger and Stacey its okay there's alot of nextime. .tc guys and enjoy wherever u right now.
Thanks Mark! One more Manila vlog to come and then Taiwan, hope you'll catch those episodes as well brother 🤙🏼
Oh great so you've been to Cebu then but it's in Oslob for the whalesharks. Have you tried touring Cebu City?
Sadly didnt get to spend long in Cebu, just in transit and we were exhausted! Next time we need to do a proper tour of Cebu just like this video to explore the city.
Now that's something to look forward to. Well done Daneger and Stacey! New subscriber here.
I wish you had a side trip to Corregidor island.....
If only we had more time! Dont worry, we will be back 😉 This was our second trip to the Philippines, we can't get enough!
A blessed days you spent ...God is keeping you and with you always. THANKS for your amazing Vlog.
Visitors should also experience true Manila and see how most Manilians lives. It is eye opening and very humbling! Search True Manila on FB.
Wooo!
Welcome to my city.. My birthplace! Nice shots! Thumbs up!!
Thanks John!
Like your manila blog... next time try to visit Sorsogon province and experience something new
Thanks Mart! so many amazing places you've suggested in all your comments, thanks!
Take a glimpse at Corregidor Island It's the gateway to Manila.
Thanks for the suggestions Cesar! And thank you for watching :)
Another trivia is that Manila has been flattened by the Japanese during the world war2. but before the war got in Manila. We are the only country in the world who opened up our doors for refuge, for the European Jews and saved 1,300 lives. and it's the right thing to do. Thanks for the Heart =)
Yep corregidor is worth the effort to go and visit lots of history aswell 😃
Thanks for bringing me along on your tour
You're welcome Pedro, thanks for watching

Personally loved this vlog! Spent five years in Intramuros because I went to one of the unis there. It brought back so many memories.
Cool that we could share some memories with you! Feel free to catch our other vlogs before this one from the PH if you'd like to see more from us anyway 🙌🏼 ruclips.net/video/K3lDAtwYt_4/видео.html
History of the Philippines 😍😍
It was so incredible to learn all about the history! Thanks for watching ❤️
Ur welcome xx
Awww. Nostalgia. Reminded me of my college days. I studied in one of the colleges inside the wall. Thank you so much for this vid.
...good that your learning about the history of the philippines even only in parts i highly appreciate your effort to know some knowledge about the philippines thank you much most tourist in the philiippines saying they exploring philippines but i believe most tourist are exploiting rather than exploring i maybe wrong but its the way i see it
Thank you! We've heard such awesome things about Luzon, but will need to go next time sadl.. this is one of our last PH vlogs then Taiwan coming soon.

I would also recommend the tour of Carlos Celdran on Intramuros.
"If walls could talk."
You'll surely have a great insight also of history of my country.
The way Carlos Celdran would present it is very theatrical. Must see this.
Thank you for featuring the other side of the Philippines. We have a very interesting history that people/tourist should learn. Again Thank you. I found your Vlog very interesting!
You're welcome, thanks Gilbert! We've got lots more if you're interested to see our PH adventures ruclips.net/video/K3lDAtwYt_4/видео.html

Hey friends Daneger and stacey, there's a big Festival here in Aklan it's Called Ati-Atihan, this is the mother of all festival in the Philippines it's celebrated for over 800+ years. Its free for all Street dancing. 1 week of festival u will love it.
Very interesting history ! Watching from Sweden
Super interesting. Thank you for watching! We love hearing where our subscribers are from too!
Have you also tried the tour in Corregidor? If you haven't, try it next time you visit Manila. If Intramuros is about Spanish colonial times, Corregidor is more about World War II.
Didnt get the chance this time sadly, next time! Thanks Mark

We had no idea at the time, such a casual guy he didnt say anything! Thanks for the sub! Sadly this is near the end of our PH trip this time (weve been 2 times now!) but you can catch up on the 20 vlog prior to these here: goo.gl/nLKo3s
This vlog is so much history. Very interesting indeed. I love it!
Glad you enjoyed - thanks!
Beautiful shots you have; very keen eye for beauty
Old Manila is lit! Chill Metro Manila is a mix of heritage and modernity.
We always reply, Mark! Manila as a whole is LIT - really grew on us this trip as you can probably tell from the vlogs!!
Nice vlog! It's great that you have learned the rich history of Manila. Been living in Manila for almost 35 years. Studied in Intramuros and my family visits our dear Angkong (Grandpa) in the Chinese cemetery.
Wow, must have been a bit crazy for you watching this vlog then!! Thats amazing. Glad we could share our experience and you enjoyed it.
Thank you for sharing a sliver of our country’s rich history. Love your vlogs because they expose how kind you two are. 🙏🏽
Awesome comment thanks Dante, so happy hearing about the things people feel or take away from watching us and our vlogs. Thank you!!
Nice going through history of the country not just the main attraction 👍👍👍.
Thanks Reymundo, we felt we owed it to our subs to see a different side to the PH!
