    Great overview, thanks. Is the OneX dual voltage? I travel between the US and Europe and it'd make much more sense to buy it if I could use an EU adapter when I'm there.

      I’m glad you enjoy it! I have a video called ONEXGPU quick tip that looks more at the power brick. The plug end comes off and you should be able to slot in a euro plug.

  • @jasonspruance
    @jasonspruance 7 месяцев назад

    I keep seeing the video for this and I keep wondering why you are playing on the Go screen instead of an external monitor? Do you always play like that? I have read that it will decrease your performance as you are essentially sending the processing to the GPU, then back to the Go to display instead of letting the GPU display on an external monitor.

    • @GamingRepairs
      @GamingRepairs  7 месяцев назад

      I was playing on the legion go screen until I made the external monitor fix video to solve the issues that I was having when using an external display. After that fix I’ve been always gaming on the external monitor with the exception of recliner handheld gaming with a razer 2M active thunderbolt 4 cable. 😊

    Is there any way to brace it to the legion go to make it truly portable?

    • @GamingRepairs
      @GamingRepairs  7 месяцев назад

      If you braced it to the back, it would block the vents for airflow and increase the temp on the legion go given it’s a hot device. Then there’s the issue that you still need to have it plugged into a wall outlet for the 330W power brick or a huge portable battery or generator with a wall outlet on it for sufficient power draw. 🤔

      @@GamingRepairs If you don't have a PC and you don't plan on getting a PC or a laptop or anything then buying this might make sense. Otherwise it makes no sense since you basically transform a handheld to a non mobile device by using this.
      With any logical measure this is a horrible buy especially considering the price.
      So it seems to me this is just for people with cash to waste that simply buy it for the hell of it as tech curiosity and a fancy gimmick and nothing else.

    • @GamingRepairs
      @GamingRepairs  7 месяцев назад

      @@SIPEROTH Adding an egpu in general is just for if you want boost what you have. It’s definitely not for everyone.

    • @SIPEROTH
      @SIPEROTH 7 месяцев назад

      @@GamingRepairs Yes but what you have in this case is a handheld system that becomes immovable just like a desktop PC.
      And if you already have a desktop PC or even a laptop then why use your handheld as a desktop PC and not your actual desktop PC?
      It only makes sense if the only thing you have is just the handheld and since that is the only thing you have you are trying to use it as a desktop PC as well.
      But if someone didn't have money to have a decent laptop or desktop PC then how come he bought an expensive handheld with an expensive egpu on top?
      They will be better of using their money differently. Actually with how much that egpu cost they could built a desktop PC near that while still having the handheld.
      So we end up in the end that is just a gadget for those with money to waste just to play with and not anything sensible as a buy.

      @@SIPEROTHYou are missing on a point and is the fact that this device offers portability, which a desktop doesn't, in my specific case, I have an OLED TV in my living room and a monitor in my room, so I can have this eGPU in my living room and play 4k games, and then in my room do productivity tasks with only the Lenovo Legion Go with a day docking station, so I have the best of both worlds.
      You can discuss if a console would be better for a TV, but I am not buying a console which requires an online subscription to play online, paying extra money for games, and being locked on a console OS, and plus this eGPU can get similar performance to a Séries X or a PS5.
      Additionally to all that, if I were to travel outside, I can just grab my Lenovo Legion Go, and play on the go while having a powerful device.
      To me it looks like you are just thinking on a side, and not seeing the many possibilities that having both devices offer.

  • @morrisjanjavier394
    @morrisjanjavier394 4 месяца назад

    May I ask if there is a reason why you pick this eGPU and not GPD G1? In my country their price are exactly the same and I don't know which one should I choose.

    • @GamingRepairs
      @GamingRepairs  4 месяца назад

      I picked it because of the overall look, port layout, RGB lighting, and nvme slot. At the time I purchase mine, the G1 didn’t output enough power to charge a device like the Legion go and there were quite of few forum discussing the issue. I believe they have fixed the issue in their G1 current iteration and have a patch for the old one. Note that the OneXGPU can’t be updated like the G1 but it shouldn’t need to be. The card itself will give you the same performance in both devices.

  • @lijimmy80
    @lijimmy80 8 месяцев назад

    Question: Can the device also be used as a power bank for the Legion Go? If so, by how much?

    • @GamingRepairs
      @GamingRepairs  8 месяцев назад +1

      No, it can’t be used as a power bank. It has a huge 330w power brick for the wall. There’s a lot of power draw. But it does charge the legion go with up to 100w output so the legion isn’t running a separate charger, just the egpu one.

    Hey Nelly, you've been amazing, transparent and very informative regarding your guides. I just recently purchased the ONEXGPU for my Legion GO. I've been having specifically external monitor issues. Whenver connected to any external monitor via the ONEXGPU's DP/HDMI ports, or even via USB-C directly to the Legion GO, the eGPU will just constantly disconnect after 30 mins of gameplay.
    You mentioned 0:44, you had similar issues and did a few chipset updates alongside an AMD App instal. I was wondering, if its possible for you to do a video (as I am a much better visual learner) or provide some instructions on how to go about this, I would be eternally grateful.
    Either way you've definitely earned a sub form me. Thank you again!

    • @GamingRepairs
      @GamingRepairs  8 месяцев назад

      @gigganook That’s actually what it’s labelled as on my computer. “AMD Settings”. In your device manager, under display adapters, what is the Legion go graphics card labelled as? Mine used to say “AMD Radeon Graphics” when I was having problems.
      Your answers are helping me narrow down what changes likely fixed the issues.

    Hey Nelly, I am back and forth on this. I basically want to treat this set up as a gaming laptop replacement, as I hate laptops. I love the feel and impressiveness of a handheld. Plus the legion go is such a cool and flexible device with its removeable controllers. Some questions that I would be very appreciative if answered
    1. I mostly use my handhelds laying in bed or on the couch near a wall outlet. Is the fan noise very loud?
    2. Does this actively charge the legion go?
    3. Is the overall temps/fan noise of the Legion go lessened because of the lack of the IGPU utilization?
    4. How much of a performance hit do you think usb4 is taking?

    • @GamingRepairs
      @GamingRepairs  8 месяцев назад +1

      Hey! I have a 4080 Asus Rog latop setup on a second desk in the same room and I've been just playing with the Legion Go + OneXGPU for the past 3-4 weeks since it arrived (whatever the date was on my unboxing video). This setup can ceratinly replace a laptop. Now for your questions:
      1. The fan noise on the ONEXGPU masks the noise of the Legion Go lol. Yes, it can get loud but that's only if you're really pushing performance games and if you're using the Turbo button to overclock it. Similar to when a laptop gets louder trying to keep cool. The cooler the device the quieter it is.
      2. Yes, it is actively charging the Legion Go. The Thundebolt 4 on the ONEXGPU outputs a 100W charge. The Legion Go charger is only a 65W for reference.
      3. I would say yes because the GPU in the Legion Go isn't being stressed so the temps would lessen. You can also use a 3D printed backplate to lessen the Legion go fan noise and improve temps. I have a video on the one that I printed and it's a big temp improvement.
      4. Thunderbolt 4 is limited to 40Gb/s performance vs Oculink which is up to 64Gb/s. This means the Legion Go has a capped perfomance with any eGPU versus a handheld that has Oculink. There a bit of a bandwidth bootle neck with Thunderbolt 4 but you'll still see almost 3X the gains from the base Legion Go.

    Could you make a video on using the m.2 slot for oculink? Also I don't think the benchmark was a good one. You should've launched the egpu on high presets and also the legion on high presets instead of just high textures. It wasn't concise.

    • @GamingRepairs
      @GamingRepairs  7 месяцев назад

      Hey! If you’re looking for something more concise, you can check out the community posts. I have time spy benchmarks pictures with using the legion go vs the OneXGPU with the legion go as the display. There also a thunderbolt 4 cable video with the benchmark using an external display.
      I haven’t looked at an m.2 adapter for the legion go to have an oculink port because I don’t like the idea of subbing the OS on the sd card. Do you have a particular part you found for the Legion go specifically for port positioning?
      Finding an oculink device that warrants an upgrade from the current gen is what I’m on the watch for. 😊

    • @TheMasterwitcher
