Many people commented on my videos that I should not be calling tea "chai" - moving forward I will do my best and call it "tea with milk & sugar".
In my language "tea" is also called "Chay (Çay)", and also I have been introduced to this type of drink in Pakistan where they call it "chai" as well. So using the word "chai" never meant to be disrespectful or ignorant behavior. Much love and respect! 🇱🇰
Api Yamu, Davud :)
She is prepairng String Hoppers
Chai is an indian word. We are not calling like that. The people can't understand that.
@@sanathpemathilake9029 Chai/ chey word originated from china and spread all across continents which are land connect countries. Even in eruope they call it similar to chai. Only countries which are island like an England they use tea
@@shaans937 Thanks for the info brother. I thought “chai” is an indian/pakistani word.
@@emnd4540 nope chai is derived from Chinese word "Cha" and spread all over the continents later Persians started calling it Chai that is how it ended up in indian subcontinent.
Just a little tip bro. Don't leave your food unattended after eating only half way. Most of the time waiters or the people who work in the shop might think you are done eating and they will take it away and make the table ready for the next customer. :D
came here to comment the same and found yours :)
Sri lanka seems like a very welcoming nation.
Yes We are. Come Pay a Visit. I can guarantee you a warm welcome! Also Many people can speak at least a little bit of English so You won't feel lost.
Thank You! Hope you'll consider Sri Lanka for a Trip!
Yes. You are always welcome to my country 🇱🇰 🙏
You are an awesome guy..
Enjoy your holiday and Thank you very much for selecting sri lanka as one of your holiday destination..
Love from 🇱🇰 ...
🙏🙏👍👊👊👊
Hi Davud, small correction. Here in Sri Lanka people don’t call “chai” for Tea with milk. We use “plain tea” (a cup of tea without milk) and “Milk Tea” or “Tea” (a cup of tea with milk). I think word “chai” is using in India and or Pakistan.
Edit: And also you can’t find banana roti too. It is not a popular food in Sri Lanka.
please read the comments
Just now saw the comment that you have pinned. Cheers mate.
Great
It's very nice to see all women run business. Just look at the kitchen. It's damn clean compared to the hotels that are run by men. Need more like this.

Indiyappa= string hoppers. 😌 Its kinda noodle you eat with curries
The ones you had were a fish roll, and a vegetable roti.
ane ane sudta owa adaala na
Davud dear you must try string hoppers (the thing that the lady was making) with dhal , chicken curry and coconut sambal brother 😋
Please have a try 🤗❤

hey bro just a quick tip. finish the meal and pay after. don't go half way. some people will think you are finished eating and clean up the table. and the food that they where making is called 'String Hoppers'. that's actually a traditional srilankan breakfast. also try "milkrice for breakfast. thats a best. cheers
You are a jenuine person .. very kind .. helpful .. open heart good person .. you are welcome to Sri Lanka .. l respect you friend .. I'm from panadura
God bless you 🙏
Just a heads up brother, the tea is that you drink there is pronounced “Tae” or “Tay”. The noodle looking things are call “Indy Aappa”
A traditional Sri Lanka breakfast consists of “Kiri Both” or milk rice in english. Also there is “Pittu”. Which is also another steamed rice dish that looks like a cylinder after its cooked. Since you’re not too fond of spice lol, you can eat those with “Kiri Hodi” or Milk Gravy in english. I use to eat these with some regular milk and sugar also. Enjoy brother. If you need help, let me know.
you are a nice person Davud...... I'm addicted to your vlogs and they are amazing.
Hi David hope you are having a great time. I would suggest when you gave tips give it straight to the people preparing the food and Chai. Thanks
Hey David you don’t need to tip the cashier she might be the owner if you wanna tip give it to the serving people or cooks they deserve it your satisfied with the food or service cheers bro
very good point! Thank you
@@Davud_Akh yes davud.. tip for helper
Agreed

Yes..agreed
Hi! Davud, the rolls are not breakfast items in SL. They come under ‘short eats’ meaning for tea time or as a quick bite. Rotis are more for dinner. Breakfast can be milk rice, coconut roti, rice, string hoppers, hoppers etc Enjoyed all your videos in SL .
Hi, David, hope you are enjoying the stay in our country, hope you like our country and the beautiful sceneries too.take care , God bless you, Thank you for visiting our beautiful country and sharing it with the world the experience you had during your stay.
i really really like the way you interact with sri lankan people...wish i could meet you someday by chance...keep up this great work brother..🤛🤛🤛
Typical Sri Lankan breakfast would be : Milk rice or String hoppers or hoppers ( plain hoppers or egg hoppers) or coconut roti. Try to enjoy those as well.
We eat rice and curry for Lunch.
Better try curries such as; jack fruit, " polos" , cashew curry, fried brinjal curry, dhal curry and fish- " ambul thiyal" style.
The food you were eating there Sri Lankan snacks. Rolls and vegetable roti. Rolls are made with fish or meat ( usually mutton). You were asking banana roti. I guess you were asking coconut roti and banana. Just ask separately. That lady was making string hoppers. ( Idiappa) . You can try string hoppers with dhal curry as you cannot eat spicy. Try Lavaria ( string hopper pancakes filled with coconut and honey mixture). Thanks for visiting our beautiful country.
DAVUD YOU ARE THE BEST...BOOSTING SRI LANKA ECONOMY, KIND TO PEOPLE, LIVING SRI LANKA.. GOD BE WITH YOU

Nice vlogs bro ,keep rocking. From Malaysia 🇲🇾.
Hail KING RAGNAR LOTHBROK !!
😀😀
Much love from Sri Lanka.god bless you!
In our country 🇱🇰 the bus drivers are really crazy .we are afraid to travel by buses now.they go on races in the road
Bus rides are crazy indeed haha
They are the best drivers in our region. I was working with Sri Lankan drivers in Saudi Arabia and 🇶🇦 🇶🇦 Qatar.. excellent drivers with good experience..speed can beat the fast and furious film.. ha haha.. best drivers ever
In that kitchen you saw string hoppers you can eat them with any kind of curry or a gravy .you can ask them dhal curry they are not super spicy
We call it idiappa.it made from white rice flour
Thanks for the tip! :)
@@Davud_Akh 👍👍👍
We don't have banana roti in SL.you can have a roti with banana.,we normally have roti with spicy sambol called lunumiris.Do try stringhopper or indiappan with local curry,it's a must.
That is called String Hoppers & in tamil its called Idiyappam.. Steamed rice flour.. To be eaten with grated coconut & brown sugar or curries / dhall 👌🏼😋
Mainly Sri Lankan people prefer to have spicy food. So, every dishes are spicy here. You better to have some 'kiriMalu' and 'kiri ala hodhi' (It will be in yellow colour) with string hoppers. (what ever the lady prepared in the kitchen).keep Exploring 🙌🙌👏👏👏💕❣🥰
The the food you enjoyed is called Chinese Roll
In short it's called Rolls
It's made with flour pan cake wrapped with mixtures of vegetables or poteto and fish Rolled and dipped in batter and bread crumbs then deep fried usually it costs from Rs 50 to Rs 80
Not real fresh fish, canned imported fish.. often mackeral or sardine
Im happy ,at least 2 WEEKS later somebody saw my intention. It was to show that fresh fish is far beyond the purse of most SriLankans, EVENTHOUGH we are surrounded by sea.
I work and live in Seychelles where most things are very expensive, yet king fish , para and most fish is fresh and easily available and much cheaper than in SriLanka.
1 kg of Kingfish in supermarkets in SriLanka was past Rs 3000/= .in January.
One thing we can encourage in SriLanka is fish ponds, without any interference from religeous factors/ elements.
What matters is the grub and the stomach.
Politicians , without being petty show that you are there and you mean business. L.G
Hello brother. Your video is awesome. Starting with the colombo kottu video and now waiting for a new video. Love from Sri Lanka 😍
Very interesting videos ..Lot of things to learn and improve....good luck...
Nyc Video Sir, your smile and the way you are talking, is too good, after saw your video, i also want to visit Sri Lanka.

I like your smile..Davud ❤️😍
❣️❣️❣️💐💐💐💐🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️Great work thanks for you help our motherland
you are doing a really good job. And it is nice to see you are Super nice to everyone
Hello Davud, good man. You are promoting street foods in poor Sri Lanka where most people are rich in their hearts.
The fish roll you ate is called Chinese roll 😄. The noodles kind of thing the lady in the kitchen was making is Stringhoppers. You should have eaten that with Coconut Sambol and darl curry which is devine, so may next time.
🍌 roti = tourist shop with non local prices. I like them too but if it is on the menu then it is not a 'local' shop.
Everyone now is jumping on the Harold Bald and Dale Phillip ,Johnny FD and doing their style of videos which they did when they were in SL !!!! I would love to know where you can buy banana roti never heard of that on my travels… banana pancakes maybe I think
Thank you Davud for visit our country
Boy...i am sri lankan live in Italy.....you never heart people in their restaurent...you say good or tasty not to hurt them.. .nice u are

Hi very good English and the way you present yourself to Srilanka guys... Compliments,, we enjoy uour viedios from italy👍❤
Selam Davud.. Hope you are enjoying your holiday in Sri Lanka... Im from Sri Lanka myself..
In srilanka we dont say chai.. Most natives dont understand what chai is.. We say Tea or Té..you can request for "plain tea" which is black tea or "milk tea"..
I have already watched some of your videos in Sri Lanka, your presenting is wonderful bro so I think you are humble and kindness may God bless you
I'm really jealous of you eating srilankan foods. I missed it since 2019
Which country are you from brother? Enjoy your holidays..thank u for visiting Sri Lanka
Next time you are in Sri Lanka, I would like to join you in one of your videos. I am a Ugandan but here in Colombo for 1 year.....
Next time Mr. David, when you go traveling, u don't ask weather it is spicy or not spicy, u just eat what ever u get ok, spicy don't kill u my friend.
Good job brother🔥🇱🇰❤️
🤜🤛 your great Brother 🤠
Awesome vlogs 🔥🔥👍❤️❤️❤️
Good luck berda 🥰🇱🇰
Davud, avoid taking such 'masala' stuffed items cold. The dough is mostly Maida (a finely pulverised part of wheat's husk), which doesn't digest easily. Also, the stuffings tend to get stale and develop bacteria which could upset the stomach.
Hi, You well come to Srilanka, you are from one of the richest country in the world. But no problem.
I like your videos, I’m also more than 20 yrs out of my country.
I request you to introduce good restaurants in Srilanka, because so many foreigners like our country. You should make videos for them. Way of your videos myself like very much but some other country people will think our stand of restaurant aren’t good. It’s really effective our country tourism industry.
Please promote our country to get back from this situation. I’m so happy you’re are really so kind person for poor people.
Please help our country to get back this country. Wish your best you and your channel. Thanks
You are totally difference from azarbijan because i have work with them .nice video bro.keep it up
"Chai" is the Indian Name machan. Local Sri Lankan don't recognize that name.
"Tea" or "Milk Tea" = Tea with milk and sugar.
"Plain Tea" = Tea with sugar (no milk)
If you want Tea without sugar or milk you can ask "Kahata"
Thank you visit srilanka lovely person anjoy our spice food yemi .🇱🇰🌷👍👌❤️
Hi devid,we are came azerbaijan 2019,we are living to baku1year only, lost our money,we are return sri lanka.sad,bt your country is good,
Hey brother!!
Hope you are doing well in SriLanka.
Loving it! ❤️
@@Davud_Akh only maybe a building-full of Sri Lankans know Azerbaijan even exists, even then some of them think it’s some developing nation in the Middle East (probably because some Sri Lankan students died there in a gas leak or something). You better say you are from Russia or something.
No disrespect, hope you enjoy the country
Hope you are doing well. Have a nice time David!!
hi davud first day dambulla breakfast see the not a noodles , she is making string hopper , you eat fish role and vegetable roti , sri lankan tea.
Love your videos David.
My only advice is to not do the business half way eating your meal , as some might think you did not enjoy the food. You can cut the clip until after eating your food than you can record the business 😅.
That is my two cents. Enjoy your stay and all the best to you bro.
Nice brow..From 🇱🇰🇱🇰🇱🇰 Enjoy ah 😁
Mutton roll is must try. you ate the fish roll. white noodles you saw is string hoppers. Goes well with coconut milk.
Come to Kitulgala. You can go water rafting on the Kelani River and you can also visit the Makandawa rain forest..climb up..so you can come to Kitulgala to have a different experience.

Hallo Davud, Bro I started to watch your videos really very good job, 👍
But I have to say you about food fx(breakfast, lunch and dinner)
That you are having to breakfast that is not typical, so when you are saying srilankan breakfast it's sounds very wrong, I will mention some real breakfast (Idiaappa, pittu, aappa, pani aappa, pancake with coconut, kiribath) please try those, what you having is snaks, have a very pleasant stay in srilanka 🇱🇰🍻,
Try something rural village food.. specifically Coconut Roti with Milk Jackfruit curry, traditional meals
