Had Srila Prabhupada been born a girl and come to 'her' father in a similar context, would he have said the same: "You don't like your husband?.. That is a great fortune for you!" It is possible people think this statement is against a gender or misogynistic, but what he meant was ANY attachment is bad. Difficult for people like us to follow, but that is the central tenet, and yet, saints and other holy people - the good ones, not the ones who tried to accumulate followers and wealth - always cared for true devotees, watching over them like a mother does ver her child.

“Even though we want to keep the body fit and helpful to our activities, the body cannot continue eternally. Although I am the soul, which is eternal, after using the body for some time I have to accept another body (tathā dehāntara-prāptiḥ), according to the laws of nature, unless I render some service with the body for advancement in devotional service. One should not use the body for any other purpose. One must know that if he uses the body for any other purpose he is simply wasting time, for as soon as the time is ripe, the soul will automatically leave the body.
We are very interested in society, friendship and love, but what are they? Those in the garb of friends and relatives merely plunder the hard-earned money of the bewildered soul. Everyone is affectionate toward his wife and is attached to her, but what is this wife? The wife is called strī, which means, “one who expands the material condition.” If a person lives without a wife, his material conditions are less extensive. As soon as one marries and is connected with a wife, his material necessities increase.

tayor mitho hṛdaya-granthim āhuḥ
ato gṛha-kṣetra-sutāpta-vittair
janasya moho ’yam ahaṁ mameti
“The attraction between male and female is the basic principle of material existence. On the basis of this misconception, which ties together the hearts of the male and female, one becomes attracted to his body, home, property, children, relatives and wealth. In this way one increases life’s illusions and thinks in terms of ‘I and mine.’ ” (Bhāg. 5.5.8) Human life is meant for self-realization, not for increasing unwanted things. Actually, a wife increases unwanted things. One’s lifetime, one’s home and everything one has, if not properly used in the service of the Lord, are all sources of material conditions of perpetual suffering under the threefold miseries (adhyātmika, adhibhautika and adhidaivika). Unfortunately, there is no institution in human society for education on this subject. People are kept in darkness about the goal of life, and thus there is a continuous struggle for existence. We speak of “survival of the fittest,” but no one survives, for no one is free under material conditions.”

Srila Prabhupada taught REAL RESPECT FOR WOMEN "Prabhupāda: Any woman should be looked upon as mother. This is culture. Except his married wife, all women should be treated as mother. The brahmacārīs were taught like that, "Mother." This is culture. Simply they are trying to elope other's wife, other's woman, exploit them. And they're cultured. There is no culture at the present moment."
But in this case Prabhupada was totally different his father said if he did not like his wife which is a great fortune. Here he indirectly says that in the world those men are fortunate who do not like his wife.
Then where is the respect towards women.

Does no one have any thoughts fir the poor wife (who was not ‘liked’?).
In his biography, he wanted to preach his wife and son, the Ultimate Truth, but they were simply not interested and it is the duty of a father and husband to give the knowledge and we are here for doing different duty and not for sense-enjoyment.
Because you are assuming that the wife was not "liked" so she was probably mistreated or unloved.
It is not like that.Vedic injunction is -Wife is the other half of one's body.
Everyone loves their own body..everyone feels their body is very dear to them.Similarly a wife is treated.
Disregarding one's feelings,one does his duty.
My father also doesn't "like" his wife.Once,when my mother was sick,he took days off from work,cleaned the whole house,cooked and did the dishes till she fully recovered.
Any demand/desire my mother has,he tries to fulfill to the best of her ability.

Srila Prabhupada in his books & recorded talks has ‘n’ number of times condemned Illicit sex. Even union without the purpose of procreation is condemned by Srila Prabhupada. However, here are few instances of Srila Prabhupada himself admitting that rape is torturous to women-
Srila Prabhupada’s Lecture on BG 1.36 -London, July 26, 1973-
“Innocent women, they are very much harassed after the war by the victorious party. You know, the soldiers are given freedom to rape the women.”
Srila Prabhupada during his Morning Walk -April 20, 1974, Hyderabad -
“That Central Park, nobody can walk there. I have heard from many women that they rape. The negros, they capture and rape. Life is unsafe even in a civilized city like New York.”
Here itself, the entire propaganda of the opposition has been destroyed.
It’s such a ironic defeat for the miscreants, because there if we check the sentence in it’s entirety, Srila Prabhupada in the morning walk clearly said that women like rape ‘sometimes’. The miscreants deliberately removed the term ‘sometimes’. The use of the term ‘sometimes’ by Srila Prabhupada indicates it’s an exceptional case. It depends on various factors such as how did the attack take place, was it gang rape, was it violent, was the victim very lusty, etc. And for that Srila Prabhupada cites the story of a rape case from Calcutta (currently known as Kolkata), where the victim was left alive and not killed by the rapist. The attack wasn’t violent. The victim herself in the story was made to admit to the court that she felt some pleasure although she was raped. Who on earth would be that dumb to say that? if it was truly a brutal rape assault

There has to be some common ground, she preferred tea drinking to hearing Bhagvatam she did not care for spiritual path so he could not find common ground with her and the thing that mattered dearly to his heart he could not share with her. It is common in arranged marriages.
I think this kind of attitude was made in Ondia, cause women never was a companion of men. They deal with themselves. Differentbthan here in Europe, where we find a pleasure in talks , in being together, not divided like in their culture.

What a toxic approach. Of course, attachment to anything, be it a wife or a religious movement, can be a problem from a certain perspective. But attachment is natural and can be cultivated through love. That's a sign of something realy sick in the thinking, in the culture.

16 rounds of Hare Krishna mahamantra takes 2 hours, i bet neither you nor even for father can chant it everyday without fail.Our Vaishnav theology is great, but greatest of practice of this philosophy, that why HDG said to chant the mahamantra so did Krishna himself as Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
Next question :why we put Krishna's Vigrah in temples, I can give quotes from scriptures, give you logical reasons but the best reason that comes up in my mind is so that we can more intimately pray Krishna to be merciful with blasphemes like you, Who dont know about Vaishnav Theology, potency of great Vaishnavs and Srila Prabhupada.

He didn't love his wife because she had no love for God. And according to Vedas, one shouldn't get married to only have sex. Sex is permitted but to have children only not for gratify his sex senses. And it is a duty of father as well as mother to elevate their children to the Spiritual platform.
But as it mentioned in his biography that she had no love for God so how can he be sure that she had children only to elevate them. It means she only wants to had sex and that is why he didn't liked her.

Afterwards he felt she had no interest in Spirituality.
