The Ocean Song line is pretty much a 'Mermaid Prestige' series for the beach/pool party line. Wish there were more fitting champions for this line cuz the non-tropical beach aesthetic.
I guess not to confuse it with the Pool Party skin line, but they could have also given it a slightly tuned water gun with shells attached or something, but something that still looks like a water gun that has passed through some arts and crafts
Pool Party is about swimsuits and fun, Ocean Song is about beach fashion and music, a little bit different aesthetics. Ocean Song tries to take itself more seriously
Ocean Song would work much better if they dropped the "song" part since it only works on Seraphine. They could have made the skinline about a seafaring fantasy kingdom enjoying a holiday or celebrating a victory, this way they could keep the same exact aesthetic but with a more fitting theme for the weapons.
For the time Zeri has been in the game, we know the focus for her is both in her gun and her coat. As long as you nail both down, you’re golden. And while the gun might not be working as well here, no denying the jacket’s unique coloring does make her stand out. It does seem that so far, Riot understands what needs to be done with her, and we will likely see more of her in the coming years.
Her gun should have been either a water pistol or a t-shirt canon. She looks like the manager/best friend who is so invested in your performance that she's right beside you, hyping the audience and making sure this is the best show they have.
Oddly. Since it's supposed to be a beach side music festival, I kinda see her gun design here being converted into a type of saxophone even if it looks weird. But y'know, the shape is there.

I wasn't ever a fan of skinlines that are sticking to a specific color palette for every champion, and the fact that ocean song replaced poolparty, which is among the skinlines that have the most creative freedom in terms of color palette, that just didn't feel right with me.

Okay, perhaps this is a dumb question, but have you considered making episodes of "Beat and Worst Skins" that compare the best and worst skins of a Skin Line rather than a Character? I assume there are a few cases of a Skinline having a character who pulls it off the best and a character who pulls it off the worse, but neither being the character's OWN best-or-worst skin.
Am I the only one who prefers the good ol' fun and silly Pool Party skinline over Ocean Song? I don't hate the OS skinline, but it's whatever for me. There are like 30 other skinlines I like more, including Pool Party.
Fuckin evil they didn't have Sona in this skin line- as a longtime Sona enjoyer, I'm always dissapointed when she's never included in the music themed skins. My one solace is Pentakill.

I’m gonna mildly disagree with you on your weapon take: it looks like this line’s taking inspiration from Coachella music festivals, so their weapons DO need to be over the top art pieces. However, you’re right that they shouldn’t outright be weapons, but more specifically pieces you can identify as part of a music festival or on-stage performance. Making them vaguely fancy/beachy weapons instead of really neat props or music instruments is a sorely missed opportunity.
