    This was so helpful, especially since you have these specific dosages in the description! I wanted a prenatal vitamin especially for infertility and conception, as I have PCOS. I was excited to hear you mention pink stork, because I actually just ordered vitamins from them; It was not one of the 2 that you mentioned. It was their Fertility prenatal gummies.

    You are a LIFESAVER! Thanks to you, I stopped Materna and bought Megafood baby&me 2 today :) I found it doesn’t have calcium so I bought ‘platinum easycal calcium’ as well. It has calcium 500mg, magnesium 150mg, vitamin d3 5mcg, vitamin e 20mg, vitamin c 40mg, fishoil(epa/dha) 1000mg. Is it good to take with baby and me2?

    • @mckenzieannabelle
      @mckenzieannabelle  4 года назад +3

      Calcium is good to take during pregnancy as your baby is using your calcium stores to build his or her bones. If you don't want to supplement calcium, you can eat foods high in calcium.

    Thank you for the information! Does Mega food baby and me 2 contain enough folic acid? It has folate of 600 mcg. I searched through and found that equals to less than 400 mcg of folic acid. Do you recommend to take extra folic acid?

    • @mckenzieannabelle
      @mckenzieannabelle  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Maggie. Yes, Mega Food Baby and Me 2 does contain enough folate (folic acid). If you take the recommended dose (2 tablets) everyday, you will get 600 mcg of folate. We recommend that a pregnant woman get at least 400 mcg of folic acid each day. I always tell my patients that it is safe to take an additional supplement of folic acid (folate) 1 mg for extra precaution (especially if they have neural tube defect in the family).

      Hi Cayla. Baby and Me does not contain choline like Baby and Me 2 does. This is not required in a prenatal as you can get choline in enough quantity in many foods. However, many moms like to take "just in case". It is very good for your baby during development. Also, the baby and me requires you to take 4 tablets per day for a serving! Baby and Me 2 only requires you to take 2 tablets per day for a serving. Big benefit.

      Hi Presley. You can choose between the two different prenatal vitamins. I recommend them both. If you take Baby and Me then take 2 tablets each day. You can get omega-3 fatty acid from foods such as salmon, flax seeds, and walnuts. Or you can take the Actif prenatal. Best wishes.

    • @mckenzieannabelle
      @mckenzieannabelle  4 года назад +3

      Hi Cris Ann. Getting vitamins and minerals in your diet (food) is the best way to get the nutrients that you need. However, most women do not eat enough fresh fruits, vegetable, nuts, meat, etc. to get all of the vitamins and minerals needed to grow their precious cargo (baby). I always recommend that women take a prenatal vitamin before, during, and after pregnancy (even if they have a very healthy and balanced diet). Your body will get rid of the "extra" amounts of vitamins and minerals that it does not need. The vitamins that you need to be cautious about overdosing with are vitamins A, D, E, and K. These vitamins, in very large doses, can build up in your body and become dangerous. However, this happens when taken in LARGE doses. So, yes, I do recommend that you take a prenatal vitamin to be safe. I hope this is helpful. Best wishes.

    one a day women's prenatal vitamins
    is a good vitamin to take before ttc? should I take choline sperate? since I didn't see it in the ingredient.

      Hello Kika TK. Yes, One A Day Women's Prenatal Multivitamin is acceptable if you are trying to conceive, during your pregnancy, and after your pregnancy. (if this is the vitamin you are referring to --> amzn.to/2LzJTIu). You can take a choline supplement separately, or you can eat foods rich in choline such as eggs, spinach, beets, peanuts, etc.

    I have been reading that up to 50% of the population has a gene mutation that prevents proper absorption of folic acid, therefore folate is the better nutrient to look for. Most vitamins contain folic acid which is synthetic but I was able to find folate based option at Whole Foods. My dr didn’t know anything about this.

      @mckenzieannabelle  5 лет назад

      Hello @ErinHanou! Yes, folate is the naturally found vitamin. I recommend Garden of Life Prenatal for folate. Link >> amzn.to/2N6fcwr

    All of the studies I’m finding are showing choline in mg. 480 mg is what I keep seeing. I found a choline supplement that is 300 mg and 450 mg. Would that be too much?

    • @mckenzieannabelle
      @mckenzieannabelle  5 лет назад +2

      Hi Ella. Yes, this is an error in this video that I have not fixed yet. I apologize. The correct amount is 400 - 450 mg per day (not mcg). If you don't eat foods high in choline (meat, poultry, fish, eggs, and dairy) then you can supplement with the 450 mg dose. I hope this clarifies things.

      Yes, you should start taking a prenatal at least 3 months before conception (if possible). Megafood is one that I recommend that you take before pregnancy, during pregnancy, and after pregnancy.

    Hi! Thanks for the video. I'm concerned with taking multi-vitamins due to the fact that certain vitamins are best absorbed away from others (ex: iron is not well absorbed when taken with calcium, etc). Do you recommend taking individual vitamins (at the recommended amounts) away from their problem vitamins to help increase absorption?

    • @mckenzieannabelle
      @mckenzieannabelle  4 года назад +2

      Hi Kala. The contents of a prenatal vitamin work together well. Prenatal vitamins do not always contain enough calcium. So, it is good to take calcium separately. It is never a bad thing to take vitamins individually like you described. However, this is more work for you. Make sure that you are not too overwhelmed with remembering to take each vitamin. A big concern is that women take vitamins on an empty stomach or without fat. Certain vitamins need fat for absorption. So, I recommend that you take your vitamins with a meal containing healthy fats (avocado, eggs, butter, olive oil, cheese, etc.)

    I had a missed miscarriage last week. I had my follow up app today and they said i passed everything. I know there’s not an explanation for it but my doctor said that if im going to eventually try to convince again she recommended to keep taking my prenatals and she also recommended me to take a folic acid vitamin. Wellll i forgot to tell her the prenatal vitamin i was taking was prescribed by one of the midwifes in their practice and i googled that usually prescribed prenatals have more folic acid that over the counter and that if you take too much folic acid is also bad for you. . So i’m assuming she thought i was taking over the counter prenatals and she wanted me to add this folic acid. Help!!! What should i do!? I want to do everything possible in my hands to help out in my next pregnancy since last time i did not take anything prior to conceiving.

      Hi Elliieevc. I am sorry about your loss. It is safe to take up to 1 mg of folic acid / folate. Mom's that have risk factors for spina bifida should take more folic acid / folate. I recommend talking to your doctor about the prenatal that you are taking and how much folic acid / folate she recommends for you.

    • @mckenzieannabelle
      @mckenzieannabelle  5 лет назад +2

      Prenatal vitamins are supplements that can be purchased OTC (over the counter). This means that you do not need a prescription to buy and take prenatal vitamins. However, if you are concerned about your health, then I would recommend talking to your healthcare provider before purchasing prenatal vitamins. I hope this is helpful.

      Hi Losy. Are you saying that you cannot absorb choline in supplements and in foods such as meat, poultry, fish, dairy, eggs, nuts, seeds, and whole grains? Is this something that you recently discovered via lab results or is this something you have dealt with your whole life? As related to your baby weight, are you talking about your baby is not gaining weight or you are not gaining weight in your pregnancy? How far along are you in your pregnancy?
