I know I'm late to the party here but just wanted to say i really like both the concept and execution of this video. Good pacing to get your thoughts on each album out and i like the artistic pause on the cover. Keep it up!
Great choices, lot of em are also on my favorite debut albums list. Dont know why, but kinda was expecting Rage Against The Machines debut album there also, but oh well😁

You're doin' great YT job! 💪🏻 This debut albums theme is I believe a never ending story, I believe You could have mk2, mk3 and so on cause there are so much great bands that had great debut albums which was also their peak. Few names that aren't on this video and comes to my mind are Violent Femmes, New York Dolls, Ramones... Maybe to do one different video with the artist which debut albums didn't show up creativity of the artist that came later? You mention few of them (Bowie, Neil Young, Springsteen) in this video... Thank You for recommending that Isolation Years record. So much great Indie Rock coming out of sweden, a lot has their roots in hardcore punk apparently. The End Will Be Kicks for example made some of the great Indie Rock stuff ive ever heard, all the stuff coming out of the haze circle of Breach is so amazing while having a impressive range of sounds. So while hopefully you will talk about the swedish hardcore scene of the 90s and 00s someday, it would be interesting to hear about related projects as well. I have the feeling, that there is a lot of amazing stuff to discover. Cheers.
I would nominate Pearl jam's Ten and Weezer's blue album. Both bands released quite some good records and good songs since then but never topped their debut record
My favorite weezer album is Pinkerton. Haha. But after that it’s been the law of diminishing returns. Ten is pretty great but beyond that I never really paid that much attention.

Survival sickness is a great debut album! I'd love to hear some stuff about those days and burning heart records and all that. Because i loved that stuff as a teenager and got into your music thanks to the DVD they put out. Nice and sometimes surprising selection in this Video. A good contender for an awesome band that only put out one album would be Scars from scotland, great Postpunk from the 80s. Do you know/have that one?

I'm a newer and younger fan, early 20s so i've not explored a lot of older albums but seeing this has made me want to look deeper into this sort of stuff, it's pretty interesting! Love your stuff with refused! (Also are there any plans to add more stock on the refused store? been trying to get a war music hoodie for a little while!)
Dennis, how do you think Joy Division’s Closer stacks up against Unknown Pleasures? Which do you think is the greater album? I go back and forth between which is my favorite. Think it just depends on my mood. Off the top of my head I’d say my favorite debut albums are probably Pere Ubu’s The Modern Dance, The Specials’ self-titled, The Monks’ Black Monk Time (great candidate for greatest bands that only put out one album), Dead Kennedy’s Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables, and of course Joy Division’s Unknown Pleasures. Anyway, enjoying the hell out of this series and look forward to every episode! Cheers 🍻🍻🍻
I think that both are amazing albums in their own right. But as you said, depends on the mood. And some good choices for debuts. The Monks are so great. INC recorded a Monks cover ages ago.
@@Dennisdeepcuts loved T(I)NCs Monks cover! It was Shut Up I believe? I had it on CD! The Fall was on the same tribute album. T(I)NC and The Fall were the bands I was most excited to hear when I got that. Got stolen outta my car with most my cd collection ages ago.
I'm going to sound like such an asshole here, for which i'm sorry, but my biggest problem with the Refused debut is the vocals. The production and guitar tone sound fine to me, and some of the songs are pretty raging.
No, you don't sound like an asshole. If you saw the episode I talked about how weak and sad my vocals are. The production is fine and it sound heavy and all. And yeah, some of the songs are cool. But weak ass vocals and to many fillers. In my humble opinion. :)
