    STUPENDIUM: / @thestupendium
The master of music, The Stupendium, has returned, and they have brought their best today! Fallen London has always had some rich lore (I haven't played the games but I know a little bit about it), but I was impressed by how much Stupenidum managed to pack into this! Despite how long the video was, Stupes definitely made it a fun, impactful ride from beginning to end. GO RUN THIS UP!

To vaguely answer some questions, they didnt fall into hell, they fell nextdoor to hell, its a short walk up the thames. And that being at the end wasnt Satan or any demon thing, it was a rubbery man, some kind of lovecraftian creature. On the 'being dead' thing, death seems to not be paying very close attention in fallen London, it tends to be more of a temporary thing most of the time.

The cloaked figures who speak in not-quite-English are the Masters, who are absolutely not in the least human. Their nature and goals are very interesting, but absolutely a spoiler for anyone who wants to play Fallen London, as discovering it is the result of some quite long stoylines.

The Fallen London universe is exactly that : London fell into the earth :D
Well, more precisely it's been dragged down by a massive swarm of bats. Reasons behind that most unnatural occurence are found in the various games of the franchise, but it includes royalty, deals and definitely inhumane creatures. Now Londoneers are stuck inside a giant (and pitch black) cavern, on the shore of an underground sea, with Hell as a neighboring country and weird creatures as neighboring citizens. Morale is gloomy, to say the least.
One of the games show what happens far later. Hint : change of scenery doesn't mean improvement XD
Things are so dire that death itself saw that, said "nope, I'm outta here", and now anybody has a hard time dying for good. Which makes chronical pains all the more insufferable :D
Didn't play Mask of the Rose yet, but it's a romance/investigation visual novel set near after London's fall. Curious to try it on, I admit.

9:58 yeah some people have decided to 'comingle their quires' with rubbery men. Not exactly lookd upon favourably. But on the plus side people have stopped caring about gender when it comes to lovers. At least no on will judge you about it.

Also, just FYI, London didn't actually fall in real life. This is a fictional story set in the mid 19th century. Just brought it up because you asked "How long has it been since the fall?"

To answer a couple questions, London is next to hell, and thus, it's fairly common for Devils to go there, making deals for souls and whatnot. Byron Brimstone in this song happens to be one. As for the cloaked figures in the fourth part, they aren't demons or devils, but people called the Masters who(if I remember a comment's explanation right) made a deal with the Queen to make a deal with the devils to sink London in exchange for the Prince or King's life being longer. I don't know much more since it's extremely difficult to find good gameplay to watch and I don't want to play the games or read the wiki.
Edit: also, Harry Teller, when he said "besides, I've been dead for a week"
Well, they're so close to hell they're practically roommates with the demons. I don't know exactly how it works in lore, but you could assume being close enough to the afterlife to walk back and forth kinda renders death a minor inconvenience

The Stars are gods. Their light enforces their Laws. Laws like 'people die when they're killed.'
Now, ordinarily just not being in sunlight wouldn't be enough to allow for breaking these laws, but the Neath (where London fell to) has some... peculiar properties. Eldritch colors that affect memory, temporal anomalies, and something hungry for identity... this place hasn't seen the Light of Sol but for one tiny corner, and it shows. So most of the time, mortal wounds aren't, and if you do manage to actually die (takes rather more effort when getting killed doesn't do it), it's a simple matter of getting ferried back downriver. Got to win your game of chess though - 's traditional.
As for the Masters, you're more or less right save for them being space-bats under those cloaks. Pretty sure the devils didn't have much of a hand in the whole taking cities thing, either. I will grant that Hell is next door - the church went to war with Hell (and lost).

    • @supremegodemperorderpfestor
      @supremegodemperorderpfestor Год назад

@@damsonrhea I would say the Masters are actually even less eldritch than the rbbery men, they are just aliens who made a deal with a giant space crab. (sure it is strange and sorta eldritch once you consider the giant space crab is a messenger for living stars but the more comedic tone of Fallen London reduces the eldritchness of most things significantly, after all The Bazaar becomes alot less scary once you notice its just a fool in love.)

@@damsonrhea Yeah the main thing is just the tone of Fallen London that, while can be pretty fucking scary at times, is mostly very comedic which reduces the impact of most eldritch characteristics, but if Fallen London were to be more serious I have no doubt it would be extremely horrifying.
