Actually, it was difficult to spin with the DG 500 without tail weight. In the first flight we tried to do 8 spins but we really did 4. The others were just fast spirals. On the other hand, spin with the fox is very very easy. Nice to see you enjoyed the video. Thanks for your comment!!
@@plazaba Same on the Twin Astir. We had to sit a light weight instructor in the front . It was stable immediately after the 180° turn, just like the DG500. Were those Fox shots taken with a 360° camera? Looks like a lot of work in the editing process.
@@michaelderflinger5002 some times I use insta one r with 360 mod (you can see my other acro video in my channel using it) , but this time I used GoPro 10 + max lens. Only one axis stabilization but no reframe needed.
Thanks for your comment Pablo. Aerobatics are very fun, but aerobatics course is even more important from the safety point of view. Nice to see you enjoyed the video!!
Nice video. I'll be in Spain (Valencia) for four weeks in August and I'm looking to travel to a gliding club to fly, what's the nearest club? I was looking at Santa Cilia, is that a nice place to fly? Can you recommend something? Usually I fly in Scotland.
If you will be in Valencia, maybe "La cerdanya" is closer to you. It is also in the pyrenees, but closer to the east coast. In any case, Santa Clilia is also a great place to fly. I usually fly In Lillo, I think it would be much Closer to Valencia than the Pyrenees. Indeed, the flights of this video have been done in Lillo. Lillo is a different scenario, it is the opposite of flying in Mountain, it is "La mancha", a very flat land, but with impressive thermal activity in the Summer. The best date to fly in Lillo is in July, In August usually, there is too much hot and thermals are lighter than June or July. The problem of flying in Lillo is gliding activity is done just in weekends. If you want to know more about Lillo, you can see both videos of outlanding in my channel and if you want to know more about Santa Cilia you can see the video Best gliding 2020. (Mountain flight in this video is in Santa Cilia). Hope I helped you 😊
The horizon stabilized views have been done with the GoPro 10 + Max lens. The tail not stabilized views have been done with the Garmin virb ultra 30. It is very nice to see that you are enjoying the video!! Thanks for comment!!!!
Nice filming! I have not flown the DG500 but did some inverted aerobatics training in the DG1000. My instructor told me that it is prone to deep stall inverted and requires a special recovery technique. The DG500 even more so. As I understand it the glider establishes a nose down attitude at 140 to 150 kph at a horrendous sinkrate with stick fully forward. Making a sharp backwards jerk on the stick to change angle of attack kan exit the stall or You have to roil out. Curious to know if this is taught when the DG500 is used for aerobatics training. Here in Sweden most aerobatics courses are on the ASK21. We have a Puchacz in my club that is really good for spin training, it spins rather similar to the Fox but a little slower.
Thank you for your comment. Indeed, we used the Dg500 just for basic manouvres (Chandelle, lazy eight, looping and spin). The rest of manouvres, including inverted flight are done with the fox.
I love me some DG500/505 action. Thanks for sharing with us. Is this 500 in 17.2m config? Or which config is it? Ours is 20m with self launch. I'm so glad they spent the effort to get it aerobatics approved as well. I would've figured it was just the trainer variants.
Thanks for your comment!! It is the 18m without engine. I think 20m is not approved for aerobatics. It is not the fox...but still nice for some aerobatics :)
Great video. Especially the horizon stabilized section shows the dynamic very well.
Interesting than the DG500 spins similar to our G103.

@@plazaba so this is done automatically? Nice.
Looking forward to the next video...
@@michaelderflinger5002 the stabilization yes, it is automatic with the max lens mod

Me encantan las acrobacias en planeadores, estupendo video (sorry for the broken Spanish I'm still learning)

Thanks!!. Happy to see you enjoyed it!!
