Although the procedure is reasonably safe if you don't have the means to backup your data then my advice is that it's not worth losing your important files over converting mbr to gpt. But in case you are willing to take the risk The procedure is reasonably safe as long as you follow these steps 1. run cmd as administrator, 2. make sure your bios supports UEFI 3. type in the exact commands as shown here (except for the disk number which of course must correspond to the disk number of your actual disk) 4. ensure validation step was successful . In case validation fails chances are you have more than 3 current partitions. You need to reduce your current partitions to three first then try again. I

I know this is an old comment, and I haven't tried this myself yet, but if it does work, it should be fine and you'll just need to switch to UEFI in bios on next boot
@@jacobfausnight1180 Yep! I was able to convert the boot drive to GPT and on reboot I went into the bios and switched it to UEFI without any problems. I thought maybe in the process of conversion that it might break windows, but it didn't.

@@uucycTV In that case, check the number of partition of your hard drive, If I remember it correctly 3 is the max partition that you can have in one hard drive, don't worry once you are successful in converting mbr to gpt you can add more partitions after. Create a usb bootable Windows rescue disk , boot on the rescue disk and use the cmd of it to execute the commands in the video

If you want to make sure make it 2 at most number of partitions. Also make sure that the disk number that you are trying to convert is correct. If you have only one naturally that would be disk 0, if you have two disks one would be disk 0 and the other disk 1

This is dangerous. Boot your win10 pc to windows PE using a usb THEN the info in the video will work. MS recommends doing it this way.

To those who only has one disk, you need to use a windows rescue disk instead and run the commands there.
. In case validation fails chances are you have more than 3 current partitions. You need to reduce your current partitions to three first then try again. It worked for me and I use what you can call a potato system.

@@uucycTV In that case, check the number of partition of your hard drive, If I remember it correctly 3 is the max partition that you can have in one hard drive, don't worry once you are successful in converting mbr to gpt you can add more partitions after. Create a usb bootable Windows rescue disk , boot on the rescue disk and use the cmd of it to execute the commands in the video

@@vladimirspark1094 Are you sure that you have 3 or less number of partitions? I also got that layout failed error when I had more than 3. If you want to make sure make it 2 at most number of partitions. Also make sure that the disk number that you are trying to convert is correct. If you have only one naturally that would be disk 0, if you have two disks one would be disk 0 and the other disk 1
