  • Today I am answering your Disney European cruise questions. From cost, to logistics, to jet lag I'm giving you my thoughts after my 7 night sailing on the Disney Dream out of Rome. Is a cruise a good way to see Europe?
It's the last day of my 7-night Disney Cruise Line Cruise in the Mediterranean and today is a day at sea! We meet princesses at The Royal Gathering, brunch at Palo and then sail through the Straits of Messina which is something I will always remember. Huge thanks to the wonderful Adam Hattan for including me on this adventure - core memories for sure.

My mother's bucket list included a trip to Ireland. She's 84 now. Two years ago I booked a British Isle cruise for my hubs, son, mom, and myself. It was brilliant not having to schlep her suitcase as well as mine all alone for twelve days. We did two nights in London before the ten day cruise on Norwegian. Highly recommend cruises for taking moms on trips too! We did Alaska and the Caribbean before this, just my mom and me, but she was a bit more mobile then. She loved it and I enjoyed watching our almost adult son experience new things.

My hubby and I got married in Greece 5 years ago and went on our first ever DIsney Cruise out of Barcelona. I agree, if you have never been to Europe before it is the best way to do so. Now we have 2 girls 4 and 2, I would not take them now to Europe on a cruise, however we are planning on going on DCL in Alaska next year. This will be their first anything Disney related!
    Enjoy Greece again!

“It’s worth it if it’s worth it to you.” So exactly true! We all have our things. My sisters and I talk about it all the time! We know that for one it may be shoes, or bags and they know for me it’s travel! I can stand there in a supermarket and compare unit prices on items to save literal pennies and then book expensive travel without batting an eye. This cruise seemed like something I’d love love love and if I have the opportunity I would grab it!

Non video related but I must say…My family and I flew to Atlanta last weekend for a 24 hour adventure. We wanted to check off another MLB ballpark. I have to tell you EVERYONE we encountered in Atlanta was kind, helpful and a joy to be around. I even commented about it to our hotel front lobby staff and the hostess at breakfast. Thanks for the great vlog Jen! I’ve always thought I wanted my first trip to Europe to be ABD but maybe I want to cruise it instead! As for nickel & dime-ing passengers I think that’s standard operating procedure for cruising. We just got back from a Royal Caribbean cruise to Mexico. We bought the deluxe drink package ($80 pp pd) & still spent another small fortune on excursions, snacks & spa treatments. Also, I’m not a fan of the RC drink package as people were taking it as a challenge as opposed to a convince.

Thank you for sharing the questions and your answers.
With our Mediterranean cruise in June, 2024, including us, we have 12 family and chosen family members sailing. For two of the members, it’s their first cruise. We’ve been concerned it might be overwhelming for them (planning, cost, travel time, etc.). When you mentioned you would recommend a European cruise for a couples first cruise, we felt better. Also, thank you for suggesting arriving to the port city/region at least two days prior to embarkation. We thought we were on track with that decision, but your comment confirmed our decision.
We’re looking forward to more of your adventures.
    Cheers!!

I just booked an ultra luxury cruise on a whim, and I was sort of feeling like I being way over indulgent, like who do I think I am spending that kind of money on a vacation on a whim rather than a destination I've been dreaming of for years. But honestly, I feel a lot better about my decision now, because it was approximately the same cost, but includes almost EVERYTHING, which i sort of forget about when comparing base cost, but will add up.

Great info! I really want to cruise on Disney! We did a 12 day European cruise on NCL in 2019 (3 people) in a family suite and it cost about the same as yours. The thing about Europe for us anyway is that we did not spend a lot of time on the ship really only evenings. Every port up at 6am off ship at 8am back on ship at 5pm. So if you really want to immerse yourself in the Disney universe, book a cruise where you'll be spending more time on the ship and less time off the ship maybe not Europe.

    Hi Jen.
Thank you for your cruise video information out of Civitavecchia. I have a couple of questions. How much time do you need the last day of the cruise to disembark and also to safely get to the airport to catch your flight back to the USA? A you indicated that you used Disney Transportation from the Rome Airport to the port and maybe you also you used it to go back to the USA - How do I find information on this Disney transportation- do you have a contact? Do you highly recommend Cruise Insurance for this cruise due to the airline flights - its another ~$1000?
    Thanks

I must be doing something wrong…I was looking at Alaska with DCL next summer, and it was $11k for a balcony room for our family of three 😂 $7k for one person on a European itinerary, WITH airfare, seems like a very reasonable price I’m comparison!

Hi Jen. I have a question. I cruise DCL a lot but mostly wear casual clothes that don't wrinkle. I do take Downy Wrinkle Release and use the steam from the shower method to help. However, I am starting to wear nicer clothes and dress up a bit, but I have wrinkles in my clothes. What do you do? Do you use the irons in the laundrettes? Send out to have pressed? All of your clothes look pretty wrinkle-free, and I gotta know how you do it. Thanks!!!

    • @JenLefforge
      @JenLefforge  11 месяцев назад +1

When I'm talking a lot of clothes that might wrinkle, I layer them on top of each other and put them in a large packing cube. Clothes wrinkle because they move around so they more I can avoid that the better, And if needed, YES I'll use the iron in the laundry room on the ship (with Disney there's one on every floor just do it early in the day because it can be busy right before the dinner/show times.
