I can't understand why this brother-sister duo didn't make it really big. This song is pure country, and it's awesome. Way better than anything that bigwigs such as Taylor Swift can churn out.
Absolutely a beautiful song. I played this song on the radio as a DJ and thoroughly loved it. So many of the good artists got overlooked. Glad we can still listen in.
21 years after I first heard this song, and I still know it word for word. This song was haunting for some reason... shame they were but a 1 hit wonder.
+Richard “Grant” Muir : They charted four singles, and Wiggins became a terrific Nashville songwriter. More: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_%26_Audrey_Wiggins

The first time I heard this song was live in a conference room at the radio station I was working at WGAR Country radio in Cleveland in the 90's. Fell in love with the song then and they couldn't have been nicer or more gracious artists.
This is just such a beautiful song, I remember hearing it once on CMT, Don't recall it being a big hit but just found myself thinking of it and looking it up 30 years later
My then ten-year-old also guessed Ireland (smart boy!), but I read somewhere at the time that it's Cornwall, southwesternmost part of England, also the setting of one of the best mystery stories ever - Rebecca. 'Twas the only mystery movie to ever win the Oscar for Best Picture.
@mrflashfromthepast John and Audrey Wiggins are from Waynesville, NC and I went to Tuscola High School with them. Real genuine people, as nice as can be.
My beautiful daughter Amy passed away 2 years ago and this song is so her. I loved it when it was first released. I love it even more now. It’s timeless♥️
JUST recently stumbled across this Country Duo and I'm sure GLAD that I did. They are AMAZING performers! It's TOO bad that they were over-lQQked by the Country Music Industry. GREAT voices that blended well together and REAL Country Music, NOT like today's CRAPPY Pop that they try to pass off as Country Music today.
I was a DJ at a country station in central FL in the mid 90s. The Wiggins came and did an interview and recorded an acoustic version of this song. We used to play on cart exclusively to our station. This song just brought back a tsunami of memories... thanks for posting.
Every time I hear this song, I think of Haywood County, North Carolina, where I live now and where the artists are from. I find it interesting that the video was shot in England and ever since I visited England I have became an Anglophile at heart, I find the connection ironic.
I was in my teens when I first heard this song. I never forgot this song it has heart. This song clearly indicates, don't throw away your love because you'll never get it back.
Love this song, you can't beat those family harmonies!! It was also cowritten by Jon Vezner, who at the time was married to a fellow Nitro High School graduate, Kathy Mattea. :)
I never noticed but a couple of times, you do see an older Amy behind him as he's walking around but he never interacts with her in the present. It could be that she's dead and a literal ghost or more than likely because of the lyrical content a figurative ghost who still haunts his memories. Even though he would like to see her again, he wants to preserve the memories of when they were young and he's fearful that she's not the dream girl that he remembered. She may even feel the same way about him since she never tries to come up and talk to him. Also I love the setting of the video. Very few country videos are filmed anywhere else but the United States, but I believe that this one was filmed in Ireland. They definitely took advantage of the gorgeous setting.
I'll probably be stoned to death for saying this. But country music has deteriorated because of rap music, bad pop and the influence of it on the younger generation who drifted away from traditional country when they integrated schools. I suppose I could be wrong.
I've loved this song since I was roughly 11. When I was still a kid, I remember thinking "Amy's back in Austin" by Little Texas (ruclips.net/video/L53uy9p5Xnc/видео.html) was a sequel...lol
I love you Audrey I can remember when we were kids and you tried to hide me under the bed and put little stuffed animals so my parents wouldn't find me so I wouldn't have to go home
great song- what's with the video though?- should have some Southern town like Fuquay Varina, NC or SIler City, for the reminisces and it looks instead like Tintagel or some Irish coastal scene.
I can still remember being a little kid and you hiding me under your bed this is for Audrey of course with stuffed animals so I wouldn't have to go back home. Love you guys. Lea
12-26-2009. She's not blue. She's only 42. Happy Birthday, Audrey. Maybe you and John can come to my area and perform sometime. Columbia, SC (Colonial Life Arena) and/or Augusta, GA (James Brown Arena). Think about it. Peace out.
Country radio in the 90's was untouchable. This was a certified banger.
I can't understand why this brother-sister duo didn't make it really big. This song is pure country, and it's awesome. Way better than anything that bigwigs such as Taylor Swift can churn out.
Poor management will kill the brightest of talent . Mercury Nashville put their resources more into making Allan Jackson a Superstar IMO
@@airborneassasinindeed! Sure Alan Jackson is good, but it gets a bit much to the point where I’m like please not another Alan Jackson song
One of the best country songs ever. So underrated its criminal.
Forgotten on the radio too!
sikkmaine28 Agreed. I always thought CMT should have played it more back when they played music vids in the 90s.
Douglas Newson Agreed.
Waiting for a star to fall. By boy meets girl is another great song too
Absolutely a beautiful song. I played this song on the radio as a DJ and thoroughly loved it. So many of the good artists got overlooked. Glad we can still listen in.
I know, cant forget Mike Reid, Lionel Cartwright, Suzy Bogguss, and many others.
Allan, what years did you DJ? I was a young lad through 1987-1994, but still consider these years the golden age of country.
Miss these days as a teenager! I remember this on the radio......I was 14. Please come back 90s!!!!
One of the best songwriters to hit Nashville… John has wrote some amazing songs…❤
Very fond memories of this excellent track from the mid 90's, a classic for sure. Just wish there had been more of this from this great duo!
Ever time I hear this song I then have to listen to Amy's Back in Austin by Little Texas 😂
they were on the radio at the same time lol. It was like the Summer of Amy
Miss you guys a lot..Country music needs you more than ever..
AMEN AND AMEN !!!!
this was my moms favorite son before she passed away when i was kid. brings back amazing memories about her
amy vieuu now ever time I listen to this song it will make me think of your story. May your mom r.i.p
The Kid sorry I’m just seeing this now, I appreciate it 🥰
John and Audrey's music gets better with time. They were always great, but I find myself playing their music more and more and it has aged well.
21 years after I first heard this song, and I still know it word for word. This song was haunting for some reason... shame they were but a 1 hit wonder.

They werent a one hit wonder by any means my friend
I still remember this song from Senior year in high school 1994. I remember every word as well. I still love this song.

Wow this was one of my favorite country songs of the 1990s .
Has anybody seen Amy? As Little Texas would say, she's back in Austin!
Ironically, both songs were on the charts about the same time!
Now this is country!
The first time I heard this song was live in a conference room at the radio station I was working at WGAR Country radio in Cleveland in the 90's. Fell in love with the song then and they couldn't have been nicer or more gracious artists.

I was in high school when this song came out. I remember it like it was yesterday......I still have the cd in my truck to this day
You can always go home, but you can never go back….
Classic.
My then ten-year-old also guessed Ireland (smart boy!), but I read somewhere at the time that it's Cornwall, southwesternmost part of England, also the setting of one of the best mystery stories ever - Rebecca. 'Twas the only mystery movie to ever win the Oscar for Best Picture.
this reminds me of a girl that I still love with all my heart.
Me too. This songs lyrics really hit home. It’s been twenty years and still. Furthermore, her name was/is Amy.
I'll never understand why CMT and country radio didn't give this song proper airplay back then.
My mom used to play this song
@mrflashfromthepast
John and Audrey Wiggins are from Waynesville, NC and I went to Tuscola High School with them. Real genuine people, as nice as can be.
John and Audrey hit #22 in Billboard, 10-29-94.
Love this song. Haven't heard it in years. Makes me recall my G/F in the old town I haven't been back too also. Wow the memories!!
Same for me. It’s been twenty years and she and those days still cross my mind often. And Yes, her name was/is Amy
My beautiful daughter Amy passed away 2 years ago and this song is so her. I loved it when it was first released. I love it even more now. It’s timeless♥️
When I was about 23 I had ran away years before but was married and pregnant when this song came out. Along with 3 Amy Songs. I called home...
Darn I miss these two! Great song! Hope they are still singing!
I remember when this song came out in 94 and to this day it still hits me as hard as it did then!
One of my favorites for sure!
I haven't heard this song in years! and I have been singing it all day.

Haven't heard this for years, brilliant song
This is what great country music is! Todays country music is NOT real country,it's crap!
Yeah I hate the fake and polished stuff today, 95% is shit. On that note, got any other good countrysongs to share as good as this one? 😊
John and Audrey AREN'T husband and wife, they're brother and sister. They hit #22 in Billboard, 10-29-94.
I LOVE this duo! Their album "The Dream" is one of my all-time favorite country albums!
you can always go home but you can never go back love the lyrics
Every time I hear this song, I think of Haywood County, North Carolina, where I live now and where the artists are from. I find it interesting that the video was shot in England and ever since I visited England I have became an Anglophile at heart, I find the connection ironic.
So sad... But beautiful !
I was in my teens when I first heard this song. I never forgot this song it has heart. This song clearly indicates, don't throw away your love because you'll never get it back.
This song came out right after I lost my Amy in 1994. 😢
Me too 95
This is my childhood right here.

How in the world did I miss this song??? I just heard it for the first time today... great tune!
Love you John and Audrey, please go back on tour!
"Has anybody seen Amy... anymore?!?" Getting Doctor Who feels from this. I miss Amyyy!!!

Has anyone seen Amy? Well, for what Little Texas said, she's back in Austin
LOL
Look for the beat-up Chevy van in front of the La Zona Rosa Cafe
I remember hearing this couple and this song when Iowa's Best Country Kix 101 Radio played it in the Summer of 94. Whatever happened 2 the couple?
Danm, wish country music sounded and felt like this.I had an Amy but her name was jean
Just thought about this song, always liked it and we performed it in my band back in the day.
Songs like this make me wonder what happened to country music
I'll probably be stoned to death for saying this. But country music has deteriorated because of rap music, bad pop and the influence of it on the younger generation who drifted away from traditional country when they integrated schools. I suppose I could be wrong.
It got Taylor Swifted.
Wonderful
I remember this song,(great!!)
I remember this great song! Audrey😍
Still love you guys. You'll always be family mom still talks to your mother
I've loved this song since I was roughly 11. When I was still a kid, I remember thinking "Amy's back in Austin" by Little Texas (ruclips.net/video/L53uy9p5Xnc/видео.html) was a sequel...lol

Lovely story! Are they still working with music 😊?
And after 20 years odd, it still sounds like ten bare feet 😊 xxx
Great recording of a one of the better songs to come out of Nashville in the mid-90s. Written by Don Henry. Check him out if you can!
great song- what's with the video though?- should have some Southern town like Fuquay Varina, NC or SIler City, for the reminisces and it looks instead like Tintagel or some Irish coastal scene.
All the heart you need in a song(
This is a pritty video where ever it is fimd at.
Lord knows Amy only missing never lost! ( From a distance ) Colossians 3 4

I can still remember being a little kid and you hiding me under your bed this is for Audrey of course with stuffed animals so I wouldn't have to go back home. Love you guys. Lea

I did think for a while they were saying Amy had "TEN bare feet" 😊
These are brother and sister.
I wish I could find the special called A Path to Stardom, featuring them.
love the harmony, is that...ireland?
I wish the space-time continuum was not always in a forward linear direction. That we could visit the past at will sometimes.
Amen, I feel you. I wonder if we’ll feel so about the 2020s
great song. i really like john and audrey, obvious by the fact that i uploaded one of their songs.
Written by Don Henry and John Vezner … who also wrote “Where’ve You Been” for Kathy Matea (John’s wife).
