Nathan Lane and Ernie Sabella are iconic. Fun fact for those who didn't know: Both were starring on Broadway's "Guys and Dolls" back then when "The Lion King" auditions were happening. Nathan and Ernie read for the hyenas together. A couple months later, they got the call that they didn't make it as the hyenas, but Disney still wanted them as two new characters named Timon and Pumbaa. In between the Timon & Pumbaa tv series and preparing for "The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride", they also starred in the 1996 revival of "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum".
These two have done A LOT together and they became a package deal...they really are comedy duo GOLD
Yes a package deal. Also with Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick in The Producers, It’s Only a Play etc, the Hakuna Matata friendship is so real. I hope there will be a full OG cast reunion so Matthew can join them - and the rest of the cast.

wow it's incredible how they participated in many projects together besides The Lion King, I can really say they were a lifelong friendship and a great comedy duo, great ones, yeah!

I saw Lion King on Broadway last year (orchestra seat) and the girl next to me was on her phone the whole time except for her favorite songs where she was belting along. I was surprised how many people in the theater had poor theater etiquette

Jason Weaver played both the Young AND Adult Simba for this song sequence since another actor played the Young Simba for a particular other song in the production, very neat, I bet Matthew Broderick would be proud of Jason Weaver here!
Jason may have been the singing voice but Jonathan Taylor Thomas was the Simba cub voice

I think it would have been fun hearing Matthew Broderick playing adult Simba later on, but as he never sang it in the film I guess it makes more sense.
@@lorenanikki82 Simba was played by three the first was Jonathan Taylor Thomas who played young Simba and the older Simba was played by 2 people Jason Weaver did some of the singing Mathrew Broadrick did the talking parts

@@theangrybirdsfanandstarwar1098 Because Timon and Pumbaa were created for Nathan and Ernie. Both initially auditioned for two of the hyenas while starring on Broadway's "Guys & Dolls". A few months later, they got a call from Disney saying they did not get the hyenas roles, but the movie still wanted them as two new characters that were being developed. The personality and animation for Timon and Pumbaa were based on Nathan and Ernie.
