    So in short:
When a cvd plasma reactor and carbon fall in love, carbon puts its seed inside the reactor. 9 months later a purer diamond is born.

I'm wondering if there's some kind of limit to how big they can grow. You know how cool it would be to have a diamond the size of a baseball?

    • @andrewbloom7694

The chunk of the Cullinan Diamond was about half a kg, and it was estimate that the original stone was well over 1 kg. Since a baseball is about 0.145 kg, yeah its definitely possible given enough material and a large enough reactor

Natural diamonds are the only real diamonds. I am reading a lot about how CVD diamonds are the 'same' as natural but they are NOT natural so cannot be called simply Diamonds, no matter how pure they claim to be they are man made and thus don't have the magic of natural diamonds. well done for using natural stones.

    • @dreamsanimatedstudios

The value of diamond is because of its hard long time process under the earth it goes. A shortcut which shows its similar or exact or better will be not worth for me as its a lab grown. would buy fake ones which looks alike as diamonds instead of LAB GROWN ONES ( MAN MADE USING MACHINES AND TECHNOLOGY ).

CVD is NOT the same process as natural diamonds. The end result is similar but also is not identical. Natural diamonds are formed by heat and PRESSURE. In CVD no extreme pressure is used. CVD is NOT on the phase transition diagram.

It's just a marketing thing. The truth is natural ones are overpriced because of monopoly on diamonds. Tho, there will be always people who would like to pay old, damaged, rusty furnitures more than it's worth and call it "antique" and it wouldn't be even comfortable to sit or use as whatever purpose it is made. In matter of diamonds, there will be people to say that impure natural diamonds as "art of nature" or "every piece has own uniqueness" as they do for everything that is handmade and despise high tech perfections.

They have the same chemical compound as a natural diamond but in the beginning of the video you said the lab grown diamonds are more pure then a natural diamond the fact is that on a molecular level very small amount of what ever extra it gets in the grown makes it better and that how the machine can tell the difference

With the traditional diamond growth method, called high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT), synthetic diamonds are produced from carbon material in apparatuses that mimic the high pressure, high temperature conditions of natural diamond formation in the earth.
The newer method, chemical vapor deposition (CVD), involves filling a vacuum chamber with carbon-containing gas that crystallizes on a synthetic diamond seed. This method uses lower temperatures and pressures than HPHT. Both methods are currently popular methods of diamond growth.
