Until 5 years ago I always listened to rock music with a focus on the drums. I don't know why, it was just that way. Then I clicked on a video here on YT, which I had already seen a few times before in my recommendations. The title of this video was 'Thrill (Official Music Video)' and at the end of this 4 minute journey I was not only helplessly trapped in the pigeon-hole, but within this short time I was also wrapped around the little fingers of a certain guitarist, who hasn't let go of me to this day. :) ... Are there technically better guitarists than Kanami? Sure, without a doubt. But for me she is the complete package of skills with audible emotions in her playing, drive that you can somehow tell she has, and the icing on the cake is that, she is just a lovely person. This young lady here (along with all her band members) has completely turned my world and the way I listen to music upside down. 🤍 _____________________ 「 _"Our rock never dies ever. In the September 2022 fan newsletter, Akane wrote a moving tribute to her long time friend Kanami, this is the English translation so it misses some subtlety, the phrase for "welcome home" is one used for family members. September 28th is Kanami's birthday! Happy birthday Kanami! I can write a lot of sentences for the newsletter, and I'm going to write a long story about Kanami, which I can say because it's the newsletter! I met Kanami when I was a student and we became good friends right from the moment we first met. We worked together as drummer in a support band for Kanami, who was a singer-songwriter at the time, and from that time on I loved the songs she wrote. Her enthusiasm for music and the amount of practice she put in were so great that I was surprised that there were other kids of my generation like her, and at the same time, I was very impatient because I didn't practice enough. I was so happy that when I went to Kanami's house to visit her, Kanami's mother would welcome me and say, "Welcome home". So I always had to say "I'm home." Of course, when Kanami comes to my house, I welcome her back. I am really grateful to Kanami for inviting me to join BAND-MAID, and it is no exaggeration to say that she has made my personality what it is today. I admired Kanami, who is kind to everyone, amiable, cheerful, earnest, hardworking, and loved by everyone. I wanted to be that kind of person too. Whenever I interacted with people, I always pictured Kanami in my mind. I still do that often. LOL. I am so glad to have met Kanami. We became more than just best friends, we became a community of destiny, the five of us. I'm so happy to be able to play music with the best members! Once again, Happy Birthday Kanami! I wish you all the best in the future.
Hell, I don't have an onion in the house to blame these tears on! BAND-MAID, BAND-MAID, BAND-MAID! I just friggin love this band of genuine, hardworking ladies! Special is not a special enough word for BAND-MAID! Five truly amazing individuals who came together to make the band I didn't know I needed in my life.
For me..Kanami is the most impressive musician of 21st Century or maybe even ever. Pure genius as a composer and true Rock n’ Roll Star on stage. Very unselfish, composes always to the whole band in her mind. This young lady is The Special One 🔥❤️
many many reviewers and maidiacs have said this band has inspired them to pick up their instruments and play more, write more, enjoy more. no matter what else they do they have touched the world. how lucky are we.
I listen/watch these guys daily an have done for nearly 4 years. Each song takes you on a different journey and it doesn't take long, for those who take the chance to listen, to become fans ... for most of us it was instant. I couldn't believe that every song I listened to for the first time nearly knocked me off my chair. No other band has ever done that to me. Even AC/DC (who played at my school when they first started out) has taken a back row seat for me. And then after listening to such a catalogue of music (none of which could be called second rate) I started looking at these doco's and as much as I like every member in this band, Kanami is, and always will be, a very talented and very special person. An at "32.03" you mentioned "for those of you that are still with me" ... seen it more than a dozen times with goosebumps every time, but really enjoy watchin reactors such as yourself appreciate just how great these guys are not only as a band but, how genuine these girls really are. Thanx for takin time outta your day/s to react to BAND MAID.
She's a musical genius. I believe that's the reason she seems a little odd at times, simply because she doesn't see the world the same way as the vast majority. She's inside herself looking out at the rest and dealing with it on a different level. At least that's what I kind of think. She's still going to come up with something totally unexpected, I truly believe that. I find it interesting that she seems to be leaning more and more to a high intensity prog sort of approach only more accessible.
No one's ever called me "OG" before! It's true the members, pulled together by a management company, made Band-Maid their own. They outgrew the management concept, they even outgrew Kobato's maid concept in many ways. I'm sure every member was thinking in the beginning, "I'll stick with this a couple years, it's a beginning in the industry, then I'll move on to other things." Yet, here they are 11 years later. Thanks for the reaction!
OG...I guess.😂😂😂 Kanami is amazing! Her story is so inspirational. And towards the end, those darn onion ninjas always come sneaking around. Mincho talking about her bandmates. And that last song...the extended intro to "Daydreaming" always gets me. It is my favorite song and this intro made it even more amazing. As it was a tribute to her grandmother, you can feel the emotion in her playing. I was there, as the entire arena was silent except for that dreamy sound coming from Kanami and her PRS. Not going to lie, I definitely shed a few tears, along with many other Masters and Princesses. And to think, she picked up the guitar in Senior High, so that would be 10th grade at the earliest. When Band-Maid was formed, she would have been playing guitar for about 7 to 8 years? Three years in Senior High. Four years in College while doing a double Major. And maybe a year after college. Impressive. PO!🕊 🤘😆🤘
Thx for reacting to this. Kanami is imho the golden goose of the band: she's both the McCartney and Lennon, or the Brian Wilson of the band (tho unlike Wilson Kanami is always on the road). How she finds the time to write all that amazing music with her schedule is kinda unbelievable, and the maids have many stories of how she worked herself into exhaustion to get things done (Kanami is highly disciplined and organized). She's rare in so many ways (ofc most notably her musical creativity), but I'll mention her natural humility. You can really feel that Kanami writes music without ego, as if all she wants is to create something beautiful that will allow her bandmates to shine, and the band's fans to smile.
I've always loved the song YOLO and seeing Kanami playing it here in the piano clip makes me realise how amazing the song really is. It really is her masterpiece.
Kanami is all fun and and cute but when she work, she's not gonna play that role, I remember that one vlog Miku did at their training camp, she ignore Miku roaming around her while she work on her music work,
What I like about this band, is the fact that however long they have been together they alway manage to surprise each other with some fact about themselves. Just so natural. Never known a band melt so many metal head hearts.
I love Kanami, she is my favorite Band Maid member! She is so amazing guitar player and composer! For me she is the best female guitar player in the world! KANAMI is a guitar QUEEN!!! Thanks for doing this program.
Thank you so much for reacting to BAND-MAID's music and Ohrenje's documentaries. KANAMI is my favorite guitarist these days. She knows how to pull my heart strings through all my musical emotions. That said, each member's personality and talent in interpretation of music has cemented BAND-MAID as my #1 group for the last 10 years. Also, your passion when it comes to music will keep me viewing your reactions even after you move on from my #1. PEACE
Great react Man!!!! I loved it and the documentary is so well crafted. You get this insight to Kanami that is so special. I watched her as she was being kind of picked on in that kind of bar piece. For me it looked like she was feeling a bit sad. I'm sure no one meant anything by it, but Kanami's look was a bit down. At that point I truly felt for her. The doc labels her a genius and she sure is. I do love her - she is special, but so are all of them. I hope Kanami never has to see a time when Band Maid might not be, because I don't think I could handle it!!! This series is so good and Ohrenje should get some kind of award for it.
Kanami is the genius behind the greatest band of all time. I see them as the greatest and Kanami is the one of the main reasons why. What a beautiful person! A massive guitar talent and composer. It’s just a matter of time when they are recognized world wide as one the iconic bands of Rock and Roll. I LOVE BAND MAID ❤❤
There is another documentary where other guitarists give their feelings about her playing. The way they explained it was, she was able to have a conversation with them through her playing which is a talent only a very few players have and I'm inclined to agree
I always wish that Kanami looked at me the way she looks at Saiki, so jealous. I love all of the members of Band-Maid and I am glad that I have enjoyed them more than five years. At first before the pandemic I would see their video for Thrill pop up on my feed and I checked it out and thought it was okay and maybe the maid outfits didn’t make me take them seriously at first but every so often the video would pop up again in my feed and I would listen to it again and like it a little more. I then saw some reactions from people saying they were impressed with Band-Maid on other songs that I didn’t know existed so once I checked out more songs then I was sold and realized that I was missing out on a special band that now my favorite. I was lucky to see the live last year in May in Austin Texas and they exceeded my expectations on how great they were live sound wise and how beautiful and smiling they were on stage. I hope to some day see them again live and experience their awesome music again. Enjoy the Band-Maid experience, I know I have!!
Yet another masterpice from @Ohrenje🧡 Kanami has a special talent. She can convey emotions through her guitar playing better than most singers can. No matter how often I hear "From now on" it will always make me tear up. It's such a beautiful song and yes Kanami lets her guitar sing for us. 💜 She is my favourit guitarist of all time. 🎸🤟💜
There is an entire acoustic show, you're right, but the two clips from the Kanami documentary are actually from a regular show where they broke to play acoustic versions of just two songs in a row (Puzzle and Anemone). The acoustic show was recorded, if I recall correctly on Christmas Day 2021. You can tell the cuts from it, because they wear completely different outfits, not the maid stuff at all. I recommend the live acoustic Puzzle as well as all of the Christmas Day serving. Rock on Ords! Let's get this man to 6K subs!!!
Do the acoustic. You won't regret it. No matter how many times I've watched reactors watch these documentaries about band maid it's still so damn wholesome every time. I've also been listening to them since 2014 so their growth and evolution has been amazing and inspiring to witness.
Reading all the comments in this video I have nothing else to add but *Hello Everybody* In the beginning there was a small pigeon 🐦 who met a guitarist 🎸 who played with a drummer 🥁 who went to school with the bassist 🎸 and then tricked the singer 🎤 to join the band then the small pigeon 🐦 asks the guitarist 🎸 please teach me how to play the guitar 🎸. The Story Continues.
True that the formation of the band grew out from an idea, but as you'll see as the documentary progresses, that outside of Saiki, it came together about as organically as any other band really. I mean doesn't every band ever started, start with the idea of starting a band? As well as it being very commonplace in the new millennium of finding band mates online or through the breaking apart of former bands. Which is what happened in the case of Band-Maid. My best friend is a professional singer and the last 2 bands he was in found him through online demos. So it's not so put together as it may at first seem. The acoustic clips you've seen so far are from two different Servings. (Zepp Tokyo and Yokohama Arena respectively) But there are again two different Acoustic Servings. There is the Christmas Special ( no Christmas songs) and the one currently streaming on Zaicko until the end of the month. Might not be too cool to show that one but I think enough time has passed to do the Christmas Special.
Kanami, who I call "The Wonderful Little Genius", comports herself as the well-raised, demure Japanese female. But when she straps on that PRS, she becomes a guitar superhero!
A couple of thoughts to run by you: 1. The song Kanami was playing on the piano at the beginning is their song "YOLO". 2. That high energy instrumental that caught your attention at the beginning is Without Holding Back, one of the "White Room" instrumentals. I strongly 💪 recommend that you react to it as well as the instrumental version of Giovanni, which is also a "White Roomer". You can then give your input as to which one is their best instrumental, a contentious ongoing debate among Maidiacs. Oh, and you will absolutely LOVE 'em!! Both are ultra high energy shred fests from beginning to end. In some parts of Giovanni, Kanami is going so fast, it looks like they sped up the vid! (Of course they did not!) They also look like they're all having a great time. Lastly, you may regret it for the rest of your life if you don't, and you sure don't want that, right?😁 Thanks again for another great feature and remember: Life is BETTER with BAND-MAID!! 🤘🤩🤘
From an interview: Q: The new release [start over] title when translated into Japanese means "starting over" or "going back to your roots" doesn't it. At this point your live venues keep getting bigger, and as many think the image of the band is coasting smoothly at the moment, I was surprised with the title. Kanami(K): Recently the composing of songs is started by me making a demo, but the timing before this song I was in a slump. I couldn't decide what kind of song to make. I wanted to take care of the pillar of our songs which is hard rock, but we have also received opinions on making songs more pop or melodious. So I decided to have a talk with the band members. Actually in our 5 years it was the first time all the band members conferred about a song together. There we brainstormed and decided we wanted to make a song that was easy to sing in Karaoke. Image like a song from our first album [MAID IN JAPAN] from our indies days. So this was not going back to our major debut days, but really back to our roots.
If you want to have a good "kanami back to the future" in RUclips. I keep that clip around as a never fail blues buster. It's HILARIOUS!! Thank you, Tony Griffin! And remember: Life is BETTER with BAND-MAID!! 🤘🤩🤘
That's the version 2s done - have to do the other members version1s now. A bit less dense on information but still well worth it. Ohrenje is about to start work on Akane's v2 in the next week or so, so probably about a month away.
When you react to Don't You Tell ME, which you should, do both the MV and the live. MV is super cool but live is spectacular with an extended solo section.

I appreciate that!! Thank you!! Can’t wait for you to see what we do at 6k!
Addictone is still producing Kanami's signature model, in red, at least (last time I checked, anyway). Only ¥500,000
Say what!?!!
Kanami, who I call "The Wonderful Little Genius", comports herself as the well-raised, demure Japanese female. But when she straps on that PRS, she becomes a guitar superhero!
A couple of thoughts to run by you:
Lastly, you may regret it for the rest of your life if you don't, and you sure don't want that, right?😁
Thanks again for another great feature and remember:
Life is BETTER with BAND-MAID!!
🤘🤩🤘
Back for Kanami. You Rock Sir.
Y’all are the reason we rock here! Thank you for showing love! Right back at you my friend!
In the beginning she's playing their song Yolo
Their song Start Over came about when Saiki challenged her to write a song without riffs.
From an interview:
Q: The new release [start over] title when translated into Japanese means "starting over" or "going back to your roots" doesn't it.
Nice reaction i m already looking forward to the next episode and to my favorite Akane . Greeting from germany

Yup, still here :-)
That's the version 2s done - have to do the other members version1s now. A bit less dense on information but still well worth it. Ohrenje is about to start work on Akane's v2 in the next week or so, so probably about a month away.
You got a taste of it, that's why I requested Start Over! What an amazing band! Hell yes, I am still here to the end! 🤘🤓🤘
🤘🤘🤘
When you react to Don't You Tell ME, which you should, do both the MV and the live. MV is super cool but live is spectacular with an extended solo section.
The ones I've seen were excellent 👍
❤MINCHOOOOOOOOOOOO😊
This doc , is the remake of it

Like green much?
It’s only the best color ever! 💚
Saiki is 5'4". Kanami is around 5'1" and Miku is 5'. Akane is 5'6" and MISA is around 5'8".
Misa said in a tweet on May 5th that she is 167 cm. That's 5' 5.75"
It's Kanami. I don't need to say more. 🥲
That's because your love for Mincho is well documented, Gary. ;) How are you?
@@jjo154 It's true i do quite adore everything about her. I'm ok Jeff how are things with you going?
@@GaryHolloway-810 Just sold my house, so I'm going to busy for a while.
