Still wrapping my head around the technology so not sure what I prefer for a camper van type setup, but I love being introduced to new options! Thank you.
Always trying to find new interesting stuff.
Another great video 👍👍. You find some of the most interesting equipment to review. Most importantly, you deliver product information in a clear, detailed and practical manor. You go straight to the point, give an unbiased opinion and real life usage. I'm always looking forward to your next video.
I love the variations you use in your setups; the combinations are endless. Seeing an actual setup in a camping enviornment really gives me many ideas of how I would setup my power needs. For a stand alone battery, I would buy this and if I needed AC, I could add an inverter of choice as long as it's within the limits of the battery.
I LOVE THIS! Right now, 12/3/23, the price on this thing is only $59. WOW! I'm gonna buy two. Sooooo many possibilities! Thanks for sharing.
It's a sweet device!
Nice find! Thank you for sharing and the review.
Great video, thank you. It's good to see the hub supports 12v and 24v batteries.
Awesome camping setup. This little DC hub is super cool, definitely a good alternative to a small power station, nice find.
I'm impressed by this unit, but tbh the lack of a built-in charge controller sort of makes it a deal killer for me. The Dr. Prepare battery+hub combination, while not offering as many ports or output amps, does feature a small 100W DC solar input for its battery. I'd still at this point prefer a solar power station simply for its input/output convenience. BTW, the picture on their website of some guy with a coffee container in one hand, working on a laptop with the other hand, an iPod in his ear, and this unit attached to a Redodo battery while sitting on what looks like a college campus bench, is HILARIOUS!
yes i wish it could be used to charge the battery my dr. prepare hub does.
I have the Dr. Prepare battery with hub.
It charges through the hub but only 100 watts.
The hub is not powerful.
Plugging in two USB (usb- or usb-c) plugs and it greatly reduces the charging.
@@kriskeilman2087 I have the Dr. Prepare as well. All true. But at 100W solar input, the hub is probably meant more for topping the battery off rather than charging it up from 0%. Running a DC fridge, charging a phone or two, and maybe powering a small USB fan are well within its parameters.
Great Idea. I also really like your Battery mod for connection to the charge controller. Great Idea. I hope others take your que. Always good!! It would simplify solar set up immensely.
That is a rebranded Licitti product and I think it's pretty dang cool! I went ahead and made 2 shorter, heavier gauge cables, capable of actually delivering 40 amps, with the Anderson style connector on both ends. (Note: These connectors are NOT compatible with real Anderson connectors.) I then attached a pig-tail connection to a 100AH battery that has the same Anderson connector on it. I did the same thing with a 500w PSW inverter. I put the DC hub and the inverter into a 50-caliber ammo can, along with the cables. To use the resulting "portable power station", you set the battery where you want it, plug in the Anderson connector from the battery to the DC hub, and plug in the other cable from the DB hub to the 500w inverter. You have a 1,000wh battery, with 500w inverter, and all of your standard DC outputs, ready to go in less than a minute. It's way cheaper than a comparable portable power station, but still so simple that anyone can use it. It doesn't have a solar charge controller or panels.
I recently lent this out to a neighbor during a power outage and it worked very well for them, in that situation.
Awesome setup! Thanks for sharing how you ended up using yours and helping a neighbor out! I didn't even think to make a DIY power station using this! haha.... DOH!
@@Jasonoid - The only moderately hard part was getting the right connectors and making the cables, which even I can handle! :) It makes the easiest "modular" power station a person could put together. Pair it with one of the new "mini" 100AH batteries and even an older child could not only carry it but put it all together.
I would use this in addition to my the bluetti ac180, because I plan to have external 24v batteries to extend the bluetti / recharge. This is really nice, for $120 bucks if the bluetti malfunctions then I can have this has back up. Or just use it for the fridge, since it's got the barrel connection. Redundant systems when camping is nice peace of mind. I will definitely buy this product. Thanks for sharing.
Fantastic review, I have this hub connected to a 100ah battery with 200 watts of rigid solar panels on the roof, I love the convenience of the DC Hub I also keep a Pecron E600LFP 1200 watt PowerStation in there for my ac needs 😎😎
Thank you so much for this, exactly what I have been looking for 🎉🎉🎉
Glad it was helpful!
That’s a nice hub, a company called Licitti is actually sending me one that looks just like the Redodo. Great video as always.
Let me know how you like it!
Another excellent video, these innovations are going in the correct direction.
I agree :)
I could definitely see a market for this, and being able to mount it could make for a very clean installation.
Cool this looks good for me Thank You Jason 🙏🏻
Looks like a good unit, I'll definitely buy something like that some day. A bunch of cables is a major hassle when you need to move everything around often, so having prebuilt power stations is definitely nice, but it makes a lot more sense economically to have individual inverters and DC supplies that you can attach to different batteries as needed.
Good thoughts, thanks for sharing!
That’s a cool little item. Allows for a great camping tool really especially for a simple camper setup in the truck shells.
Thanks for checking out the video!
Awesome. I was thinking about buying this.
Hey Jasonoid, remember when you did a review of the Licitti Battery Box? After that review, we ordered 2 of them. While ordering they had this Licitti companion product, that you are reviewing with a different name available for $40.00 we ordered 2 of them as well. The Licitti also came with a cable with battery clamps to 50 amp Anderson.
That's an excellent price! Sheeesh....
I just ordered one of these from Lucitti, but it is 50 amp. I hope that Redodo has them available locally, as it looks like Lucitti doesn't. Who ever makes these, there is also a 70 amp version as well. These are really a great idea and much cheaper than buying all those little accessories (USB-C, USB-A, etc) individually and then hooking them all up. Thanks for reviewing another one of those really useful things that are really nice to have. Now, if they only made a version that would plug into a Bluetti or EcoFlow expansion battery!
Bluetti (as well as Pecron) expansion batteries have 12V out as well as USB 100 watt PD and USB A , they both also take solar directly. Ecoflow expansion batteries have neither , you must use them with one of their power stations.
You could make a plug for that if you want to mess with making a plug. The 12 volt car charger plug to 50 amp anderson plug would be the way to go but then you limit yourself to about 10 amps. If you have one of the bluetti units that have a 24 volt 30 amp car charger socket it would work great with that.
@@everydaycarry1328 Yes, i have 2 of the B230 batteries and one of the B80 batteries from Bluetti, but the real losers are the expansion batteries from EcoFlow. If someone could come up with a battery cable for them that fools them into believing a power station is hooked up, that would be great. Although Bluetti has some options for split phase operation, I believe that the EcoFlow Delta Pro's are a better solution for backing up loads in your main panel and will look at that option soon.
I have one of these and modded it some. Changed one of the SB50 to a yellow one that I use for charging and added 2 pairs PP45 connectors.
Great upgrades! I'll look into modding mine
Obviously, as long as you don't need an inverter this is a great option. Coupled with the 200ah battery this makes your campsite a very comfortable place. Great display too!
It's a simple device, I did think the price was a little high. It would be nice to see it around $75 or so
@@Jasonoid I got mine on licitti for 55 after shipping. but it was on sale. not sure if it still is. they had one with 2 car charger ports on it for around 75 i think.
On sale $60 dec23
This would be very useful at a good price. I don’t see any at home uses just out and about.😊
Great Idea! Having a cage for the kids.
Interesting device! Most of my loads are DC, so this would work for me. I've got a 200AH battery incoming, and if it doesn't fit in one of my other boxes, I might just have to get one of these.
Let me know how you like that 200ah battery, they have tons of power!
It looks like a good useful tool. It is like an extension cord for power ... and I could see obtaining a unit as I might be in one area or another that I like to have a iPad or something streaming a video as I work or play and I don't have to have a close "heavy" battery/station. That said it doesn't invert and accept an input charge ("maybe") ... if the other socket is + and - it may work ... more tests maybe ..
The other thing that could be nice is a means to keep the unit out of dust and rain (a mod or a rubber cover, wrap in a towel etc. It could be nice to see a pyrometer test of the unit too... It would be find in some applications and not be so subject to the elements.
This is pretty nifty
It would be nice to be able to replace the internal fuse - derate to 20A - when using the standard power supply cord. The fuse should protect the wiring.
You can crack it open fairly easily. I need to open mine to see the type of fuse and change it out. Thanks!
Just install a fuse where it connects to the battery. There should be a fuse there anyway.
It has an inline 50 amp blade fuse
Very timely! I've been looking at the Dr Prepare Powermax with the hub that snaps into the top of the battery. Rather than as a replacement to a powerstation, I have the Montek X1000, I've been thinking of this type of setup as a backup to supplement the X1000 when solar is not an option due to shaded sites or lately, rain. The Powermax hub has an Anderson DC in so you can charge it via solar through the hub tothe batter - theres a charge controller in the hub. So thats a plus on the Powermax side. But this setup is flexible but you need to figure out the solar charging (for me, I already have the powerstation).so you avoid the mods. You have more flexible option of batteries (100, 200) and brands whereas the powermax is only 100 right now.The extension cord and mounting is another great option.
So I like this a lot - I wish there was a more out of the box way to charge via solar which is where the Powermax seems better there but overall, this is a lot more flexible. I think its not a pwoerstation or this, might be a nice way to augment the power station and give you more flexibility when solar is not reliable. Thanks!
How would you compare / contrast he two? Redodo vs Dr Prepare
You made great points! I like the 'augmentation' idea for sure! The Dr. Prepare is a bit limited on the hub DC output since it you cant pull 10 amps consistently (you can just fine through the main terminals). I like that it has a small built in 100w solar charge controller.
If you wanted to use the Redodo DC hub with a small charge controller, this option is SUPER compact and affordable, it's good for 300 watts: amzn.to/3pTiCba
Another fantastic video as always. How much power does the unit itself use just being on
Hardly anything at all, it's just the led screen which is around 1 watt of power.
I totally thought of an idea to build one of these with a 3d printed project box and some leftover 12v power point plugs.
A 3D printer project would be even better since you could design it exactly how you wanted. Maybe even a voltage meter and a shunt so you can see the voltage and amps passing through the HUB.
@@Jasonoid I'm gonna make this happen
@@CFerd20 send me an email of the setup once you finish and I'll share it during a livestream if you want. Email me at jasonoidllc@gmail.com
Have this and now waiting for an AC only solar generator. Easy to top off each with solar each day I'm guessing. Robust setup with redundancy. You can also run a small inverter of this unit in an emergency.
Are those two Anderson SB50 connectors on the bottom? One could connect a small inverter and have AC power too... Sans direct connection to the battery.
Hopefully they'll add current usage display also.
That would be a cool addition!
Great video Jason, what is the brand and model of the 12v fans you are using?
As I am playing with my battery systems, using 12v/24v appliances really extends the battery life.
Also, will you consider doing a video about 200w 24v panels?
Thanks for the great work
This is the 9v to 12v fan I am using in the video:

@@Jasonoid thank you
By the time & effort of packing the separate battery plus wiring it to the battery I would opt for a regular power station sized to suit my needs. IF you are DC powered - options 'heavy' then this critter might make sense . . . . . and in your definition of 'camping' where you brought everything except a full-size bathtub, I can see where this item might be useful. Thanks for the 'specialty' item coverage ! ! take care, rh
Oh wait ! ! ! The full-size bathtub was in the 'washroom tent' off to the side which wasn't shown. . . . . . . . . ( ha - ha ) !
With 3 kids and a dog for a week long trip were forced to have many items. If it was just me and my wife, it wouldn't require nearly as much stuff.
@@Jasonoid - . . . . and you din't even 'chuckle' at my comments . . . . . . ! So with 3 kids & dog for a week is it even any fun after all the work ? ? ( kidding, I know it is ! ) take care, rh
@@richardhobbs7107 it's hard to discern how to take comments sometimes! Haha Luckily we have packing down to science with all times we go each year so it's still fun!
I really like the hub. If there such a thing as a hub like that which had a charge controller built in, that would be sweet.
If you are wanting to charge LFP batteries, this option is super compact and affordable!

@@Jasonoid oh wow. question, my solar panels doent have mc4 connectors, basically just anderson, xt60 and the round bluetti solar input connectors,
@@user-rp1vu1gk5u look for an 'Anderson power pole to MC4 adapter' on Amazon.
@@Jasonoid im finding ones that support 120 watts but not 300 watts that i can use with the mmpt you recommended. this hobby drives me nuts
@@user-rp1vu1gk5u I usually make my own adapters. I have an entire video on making Anderson Powerpole connections.
Hi looks good, and if you can put this with the smaller dimensions battery you tested a few weeks back would make a good setup.👍🐝🌞
That would be a very compact system!
@@Jasonoid that is just what I was thinking. 👍🙃🌞
can you turn the screen off? seems kinda bright (if used in a tent/camper) if youre really into dc equipment seems great. i just run an extension cord from my camper inverter to our tent to power ac devices we already have (heated blanket, air pump, phones etc...)
The screen is always on and it can be bright in a small area.
Great video very interesting do you know if it's available in the UK I can't find any 🤔
Not sure it's an international product
I haven’t been able to find the answer. Can you charge the battery AC while using the DC Hub at the same time? (Pass-through charging)
Yes, this allows for power to flow both directions. If you have more power going into the battery it will charge, if you have more power going out of the battery it will discharge (Think of it like a net income or loss).
@@Jasonoid thank you!
Hi Jasonoid, I've been watching your videos and learned a lot of things with it. now, I wanna ask you that 100ah LFE battery your using how do you charge it? I think I saw that you also used the same as that with Bluetti as an expansion battery pack. I wanna do the same but I dunno exactly how to recharge it again? Can I Buy the same Battery pack and recharge it also via Bluetti AC200max port, Possible? or any advice how to recharge it?
You can charge these batteries off solar using a solar charge controller, or you can charge them off AC wall power using a wall charger, links included below:
1) 20 amp Solar charge controller: amzn.to/3KejLRg
2) 20 amp AC wall charger: amzn.to/47gzPfx
@@Jasonoid Thank you so much. Your always a big help! GODBLESS you and family! 👍🏻😊
how do you know how much energy is in the battery remaining?
You estimate the battery SOC by using the resting voltage. 13.2v is full, when it's down to 12v it's basically empty and needs to be charged.
Embedded power metering module Have you heard of it?
Nope
The Licitti version of this box is currently $45 on sale.
That's about the right price for a device which basically does nothing except pass the battery voltage to various ports, plus has a voltage display and USB ports.
I took down my recent Licitti battery box video due to viewers complaining about paying for a product, their credit card getting charged, and it never showed up. Not sure how much I trust Licitti anymore.
@@Jasonoid this is my recent Licitti story. Ordered battery box on June 27th. Received notification of sale email the next day. Then nothing for 2 weeks. I emailed "mark @ licitti" on july 12th requesting a tracking number. He responds on the 13th with a tracking number. When I checked the tracking in UPS - IT WAS CREATED 10 MINUTES BEFORE HIS EMAIL. Two days go by and UPS never receives the package, I message Licitti again mentioning this, Mark then calls me by another name and tells me not to worry. The next day it final scans into a UPS location in NJ, gets delivered in 2 days.
@@Jasonoid I was wondering where that video went. As I'm only 10 miles away from their IL warehouse, your video inspired me to pick up their DC Control box and AC1000 battery box. These along with your Dr Prepare 100Ah battery review have provided me with a very inexpensive camping solar generator setup for my needs this season. I'm happy to report that I haven't had any issues whatsoever with the Licitti ordering process or products. THANKS!
I think unless you need AC power, than this is the way to go. If you open it up there is a fuse or should be, the one I got from licitti has one and they look identical. Mine says 50 amps but I would not try that just based on the wire size. And you can charge the battery through the other Anderson 50 theyamp plug if you need to.
I need to crack this one open and see what it looks like inside!
@@Jasonoid It is a good idea to. Mine i think has a 50 amp car fuse in it. I did a video on it. And the 2-50 amp anderson plugs are wired together. I believe the wires inside are the same size as the plug that comes with it. I would say stay below 30 amps to be safe.
@@Jasonoid I checked the video I made of mine, it has 10 gauge wire inside with a 50 amp car fuse.
Fuse for the DC hub ?
If I remember it has a built in 40 amp fuse but you could always add your own.
I saw this but it was way too big for my taste at first glance.
I would love if companies made more of these.
Im hoping dr prepare makes a second one with better specs.
I think they have a V2 in the works with higher DC output, that would be sweet!
How many watts output are the Type C USB's....?:)
It doesn't say PD, so probably not much.
They are rated at 45w each.
Super overpriced for what's really not better than some RV/Marine DC output panels costing $15 to $30, and/or a 12V fuse panel.
It not having the right size wire and fuse is a hard pass for me. Not paying that kind of money and then have to rebuild it.
I wouldn't pay that much if it included a 300w pure sine inverter and 20A PWM charge controller. I might if it included both of those but MPPT.
My 50Ah LiFePO4 feeding the input of my GoLabs R300 could have met all the needs of your trip, with a 200W panel putting even just 120W into the LiFePO4. Between the two of them, there's 900+Wh and numerous ways to move power between batteries and devices.
As Plan B, I have the 30A version of your Kisae DC-DC if solar isn't enough. Also, an AC charger I can plug into my Bestek 300W pure sine inverter in the car, to bring the car battery into play to put 4A into the LiFePO4 if not running the engine to run the Kisae. The inverter cost me $35, the charger $28.
To me, something that just gives me USB ports, cigarette port, 5521 ports, and voltmeter is a bit of a nothingburger.
It's not right for everyone, but it could be useful for some people. That's why I try to find new and different products.
I think I would prefer to have a power station, seems too many bits and wires.
There's only one wire to the hub so I don't feel it's too cluttered. I understand each person wants their own type of setup and that's why I'm glad there are so many options available now :)
@@Jasonoid no firstly you have a massive battery, cable then to the box and a solar charge controller, that’s what I mean about bits everywhere. When camping what could be easier than a power station and solar panel? Especially when taking these items camping where space can be limited
@@Paulwilliams203 ahhhh, I see what you mean. Thanks for clarifying!
It's a nice gadget but they rebranded it its not the first time am seeing that and it wasn't called Redodo
This was $83.99 on prine day.
I honestly don't see a real need for it...with the exception of the USB converter it has, everything else you're using can be connected directly to your battery or cheap fuse block and a USB converter can be had for much less than $140.00 , thanks
This one definetly isn't for everyone, I feel it might fit needs of some people. Apparently you can get it for $50 on Licitti's website. Thanks for checking out the video!
It’s interesting but I feel it’s under powered and ugly.
It also seems to be no longer available on the link provided.
it seems that Chinese companies dont understand we dont want no stinking 5521 ports. Load them up with something most of us can use (8mm)
I feel 5521 is more common than 7909 when it comes to powering basic 12v loads. I'd rather have Anderson PowerPole or XT60 on there as an alternate connection. Those are both high amperage connections with TONS of adapters available online.
@@Jasonoid yes adapters; just another item to buy not that it is very expensive but you know what i mean. I guess im a novice but i never used 5521 nor do i have any need to use them ATM.
Great video of a clever product. What general area were you guys camping in? Too hot to camp anywhere in TX right now, so some out of state alternatives would be nice. Thanks!
Central Utah at 9000ft, only way to get out of the heat is to go super high elevation haha
Problem is there is no fuse built into the wiring right off the battery connection!
The fuse is in the device, if that's not enough put an inline fuse at the terminal.
