so greg, if i sand my guitar and throw rocks and keys at is it a relic? and will it sound better? no sure won't cause most of your tone is in your hands and pickups. the wood has nothing to do with it..in acoustics it would but thats it.

Hey there! ... sorry - I don't agree - some details influences even the sound of an electric-guitar ... I discovered an interesting thing on my CS Telecaster ... it sounds different with a 3-ply-pick-guard / different with a thinner 1-ply-pick-guard / it sounds best with NO pick-guard !!

I prefer nitrocellulose coating but that's about it. Mostly about the feel of the guitar for me, though. I agree, relic'ing is stupid.

the thickness of the finish affect how the wood resonates and therefore the tone ;)

Wrong! how come monster players have to always demo the guitars? This guy could play a Hondo and make it sound like an Anderson. Please, have a crappy player play on it so I will know what I would sound like on it , thank you.

I’ve owned a couple of tom’s guitars. They are definitely buttery and play great but lack any kind of character. They are overpriced and the guy who works customer service is super pretentious. I went to purchase a third one and asked for a custom finish, because their finishes are lame. I also wanted a novel pick up/switching system…He said “we don’t do that” and hung up the phone. So I sold both my Tom Anderson’s and bought a Duesenburg and a custom shop tele. No regrets at all. One nice thing is that they still sell well, but I doubt that’ll be the case in the future. Gibson tried to sue them, and instead of doing what Paul did, they caved. Tom actually tried to close the shop cause Roy is a jerk and a megalomaniac. It’s too bad one guy can ruin one man’s genius creations. That stupid A on the headstock... so cringy - 90s dad crap. There’s like three guys in the shop who make magic. And Tom is amazing at quality control. He’s just gotta find somebody else to pick up the phone. If you have a young player with taste, you would be wise to listen and build something that will really catch peoples attention. Save your money and get something with vibe. Perfection is nice, but those guitars never got played in the studio... they seem to be about five years behind. The new raven is definitely an improvement for them, but come on. Long scale jazz master/mustang relics? What is this 2009? I had a friend call them blandersons. How is this for testing you?

i also thought the same about lack of character at first, but i came to like it more when i did recording sessions. this guitar will take any drive type effect well and blend in with any type of music. if you want character, like you said, fender seems to satisfy that criteria. for me, im using a fender body and tom anderson pickups!

I can't believe that....i had really a great experience with TA guitars and customer service. For me the quality is stunning, like Music Man.

You are clearly lying, since they offer more finishes than just about anybody, and no, Tom Anderson never tried to close his own shop. And Duesenbergs are built in Korea but cost $4K. Nice try, though.
