I'm impressed with the fact that this car company is still run by a member of the founder of the company Something else that impressed me is that a lot of the people who work there today have been working there for years
Saw the Wheeler Dealers chassis change on a Plus 4. Interesting to say the least . Until recently they were using Oil from the engine to fill the Shock Absorbers. Never seen that before. The 3 wheeler how do they pass the safety laws.
Family ownership... Produces relationship between the owner and the employees.... That's what's missing in America and that's why it's gone downhill!!!
I had no idea that the Morgon company still existed or about it's long multi generational tradition. I salute the company and hope it has a long future.
An excellent series, well narrated and well filmed. Most of all it does not pretend, that British cars were the "creme de la creme" of engineering or reliability! In my humble opinion, of all cars ever engineered and produced in Britain the Jaguar XK series 1,2, and 3 were (and still are) the most beautiful sports-cars ever made! BUT, British automobiles always and still have a certain "charm"... if only the engineering was German... ha ha. ;-)
that Rover V-8 was a Buick, Oldsmobile deal, I believe it was a push rod 235, the Brits used two crappy S,U,s, the U,S version had a four barrel and a two barrel carb, the heads were famous for warping
It was 215 cu in. v8 aluminum heads the 63 version had water lines to the head for additional cooling. I because I have a 63 buick special still running and driving today.
I found this episode pretty funny; my favorite was the owner, Charles driving around in ‘one of the vehicles destined for the US market’ but still sporting a steering wheel on the right. The other detail was something lost in translation or at least just never discussed about the Aero 8’s design...those abominable headlights that take a pretty nice-looking car and turning it into a cross-eyed wonder. Not sure how you do that or WHY that would be done! Oh well, to each their own...and Morgan owners being VERY MUCH their own!
Samsonian well the headlights were from the new VW Beetle except the left hand light was used on the right and the right headlight was used on the left. This was a decision made by Chris Lawrence the chief designer, God rest his soul. The reason to use the VW headlight was so that Chris could increase the nose length of the car so he could have the splitter below the radiator intake. Charles Morgan was reluctant to make the car bigger than a Plus 8 so Chris had to ‘justify’ a reason and the ‘long’ VW headlight was the reason. If you positioned the VW headlights with the right one one the right side of the car it just didn’t suit the shape of the nose at all. Derek Jones - CAD Design Engineer at Morgan from 1999 to 2006.
@@Blogengezer but not as quick ! whole peers for ships and ships themselfs have been build to survive for decades with a little bit of care or horse carts ... but modern steel needs this coating and 6 years later : rust holes everywhere despite rust protection and thick coats of paint... see how fast a car fender starts to rust if you just leave a blank spot ... takes minutes until it turns brown on the surfice
I noticed the RHD error as well. Why does the narrator rechristen Pickersleigh Road to Pickersleigh Lane half way through? The Aero 8 is pig ugly. I'm sure its good but the cross eyes and the high door line just don't do it
If you could upload this, possibly interesting, documentary without the awful and unnecessary 'background' music, it could be watchable. With the soundtrack, impossible.
Nice, except for the American terms! Aluminum!! hood!!! It should be Aluminium and bonnet!! This is as British a car as can be, please keep the language appropriate for the occasion!

Morgan cars are Sh**. Wooden chassis, can only go safley in a streight line and that under 90 Mph. Management have their heads stuck up their .... to keep flogging 3rd rate machines. If you have a city car and a Porche/Merc and want something like a wart get a morgan.
You are showing your total ignorance on the subject, the chassis is steel, and always was, the body frame is Ash, a very suitable material to use for a body frame as it was on aeroplanes, please do some research before you make stupid statements in future.
TERMITES DELIGHT ! What a silly way to build cars in 2023. Laughable really. Trying to look vintage then putting in this HORRIBLE cheap looking modern steering wheel.🤣🤣🤣
One day I'll get my hands on a Morgan. I really love the classic design
The Lemans car is stunning. Just stunning! All Morgans are beautiful. But that car is just stunning!
Nice to see some things stay the same, instead of changing all the time.

Must be an old film because Charles Morgan was thrown out some years ago

American businesses these days are sorely lacking in the whole "Family Business" department

Mine was a 1964 4/4. I fucking LOVED it!

only family in the world to retain ownership of their great classic cars.
They had morals.
The extra battery crater on the underside would be to hold the battery on right hand drive cars.
Apparently there's not only a waiting list for new cars but also for used ones.
I live in Santa Monica across the street from Morgan West. Every day fulfilled, seeing, hearing, knowing “they” exist
If I could get any sports car I want it would be a Morgan!

What they are for the car industry, Arch motorcycles is the two wheel equivalent.
fantastic ,how about a video on Austin Healey ,Alfa Romeo ,Triumph TR-2, etc.
Excellent idea because these were people who had a vision push for it and succeeded!!!
Ask the Man who owns one - Richard Hammond!
That’s the packard slogan, not Morgan.
@@mayormccheese761 Well aware of that.
I was quoting Richard Hammond.

wonder if the wood is a better option regarding rot and rust ...
-Rot vs rust? With the perpetually wet atmosphere of England, it appears that wood is also subject to disappearing over time?

Obviously not they try to make them reliable.
Morgan uses BMW engines
