Tip for Peel off base coats: To help a peely base last longer, you don't want to apply the base coat all the way down to your cuticle and cover the sides of your nails. Then make sure you overlap the peels base with your polish and top coat near your cuticle and sides of your nails and wrapping the tip with polish and top coat. You can also overlay a regular or long lasting base coat over it, making sure to overlap the peels base coat and wrapping the tip, to help it last longer.
@@KelliMarissa I wholeheartedly agree with Kamikolnu's advice. I used to be the same as you, but doing these things helped my mani last a couple of days before any "nail" peeled off. I would also add not to apply the peel off base coat to the tip of the nails. (And I don't mean just not wrapping the tips but also not applying in ON the tips).
Good tip! I’ve been doing 1. regular (or long lasting) base coat, 2. quick dry top coat, THEN 3. peel-off base coat (avoid edges, area near cuticle, area near tip), then proceed with the rest of the manicure. It does last a few days, I only used to be able to get a couple hours out of it, like Marissa. But doing peel-off then long-lasting sounds like a good idea and it’s one less step!
I have two Polishes that were given to me on Hannukah and I forgot the name of them, but they were "Frozen" related....they do not say "Peel-off" but they act like it
@@JadenYukifan28 usually the frozen like princess type polishes Lisa frank any of those are for little girls and they peel off so if it’s the same ones I got my niece then it’s a non toxic plus child’s polish so it peels of insanely fast lol
I have the UNT peely base and had the same issue as you where I found that my polish would pop off almost immediately. Cristine posted a video on her Holo Taco channel about her base coats and she gave tips on how to keep the peely base lasting longer. I found that following her tips helped my polish last much longer (about 3-4 days). The biggest one for me was not applying peely base all the way down the nail. It’d be cool if you tried this again using some of her tips in that video and seeing if it makes a difference.
Jessica Smith they work very well. I followed the tips when using peel off base the first time and my manicure lasted about 4 days before the first one popped off
I follow most of Christine's tips (light file for texture, paint with acetone to dry them out, don't go all the way to cuticles with base, etc) and I can usually get almost a week out of my UNT peel off. I don't do a lot of water-based stuff other than showering, but I do type a lot and though I notice tip wear, they don't usually pop off.
The holo peely base coat lasted over a week for me!! I’m a true believer of body chemistry :-) but love how you do nail art for short nail gals like us
I totally agree, even my mom has a totally different experience with certain nail polish brands than I do, it's crazy how our bodies react differently to things as simple as nail polish!!
Peel off base coats tent to hold better on longer nails. It sticks better to a tip of a nail that is not constantly exposed to the body heat. With long nails I get like at least one week wear time out of my designs (sometimes 2 weeks) when I use the ünt, but when I have shorter nails I lose the first peelys within 24-48 hours.
I remember Cristine mentioned you should use a q-tip dipped in acetone and rub it on your nails to remove extra nail oils for the peely to last longer.
Kelli Marissa also budding the nails and not putting it on the entire sides of the nails help, I tho k she has a video on how to make it last longer on the holo taco channel
Alcohol will do the same thing, and has the benefit of cutting down on nail yellowing from frequent polishing. Also protects from fungus. I always have alcohol pads lying around because I have to take insulin shots a couple of times a day, but using ye olde drugstore bottle of isopropyl alcohol with a cotton ball will do the job as well.
I used to have the same experience. I've been trying UNT unsuccessfully for a year and was close to giving up. Holo Taco released a how to video for peel off base coat which I followed to the letter with UNT (figured no point buying a new one if it'll end the same) and I got 5 days of wear! I have to rewatch the video every time I do peel off base coat because it needs to be applied differently to normal base coat apparently and I don't want to spend ages doing a manicure to have it peel off in a few hours
Can you tell me the title of that video? I remember her saying you could get 3-5 days but I cant figure out which video gives tips. I have 2 new bottles and I would like to take advantage of them.
The thing I find with peel off basecoat, is that its good for someone like me who literally cannot stop from picking their nails! If I find any imperfection, I'm definitely going to mess with it until its gone. So I use them to keep from damaging my nails as I'm trying to grow them
Same! I'm so bad about picking at imperfections 🤦 that's why I love the peely base coat. I get at least a day of wear out of it though even with my picking and constant nail washing.
I had the same result when I used holo taco peely base. I even took extra precautions by not bringing the peely base all the way to the edge of my nails, but it didn’t even last me 24 hours. I can’t really complain though because.. I mean, it’s a peel off base coat, it’s doing what it’s supposed to, I was just hoping for longer wear is all.
I use it only because I'm not allowed nail polish at work! So I can have a pretty manicure during the weekend and it comes off super easily when I need it off for the workday Monday!
I use Orly Bonder base coat underneath UNT peel-off base. Yes it negates the "peely" properties, but it lasts just as long as a regular manicure and it makes scraping off the glitter much easier :)
I used UNT for a while, but I have nails that peel a lot, so sometimes when I peeled off my manicure, the UNT base coat would peel try thin layers of my nails. I have recently switched to Holo Taco, and I find it does peel a lot easier than UNT, so it was a bit of a learning curve. Things that help making it last is using rubbing alcohol before painting your nails, avoiding the very outer edges of the nail with the base coat, but making sure the colour and top coat are applied a little closer to the cuticle than the peel off base, and wrapping the tip with the colour and top coat, but NOT with the peel off base coat. I have gone up to 4 days wearing UNT, and so far 2 days with Holo Taco.
Definitely has to do with nails. I had some sort of problem with UNT when I tried it. After 2 days of wear my nails started to hurt so I peeled them off (which was painful and really hard to peel off. They came of in one piece but they were like super glued to my nails) and I had horrible pain and redness and got air pockets in my nail beds under the nail😭. Had a friend use the exact same bottle I bought and she had no problem. I didn't get a messed up bottle and I use all kinds of harsh things and my nails have never had a problem like that. Took months for the air pockets to grow out. But my nails just didn't like it 🤷♀️
@@KelliMarissa it's crazy! mine lasts for days meanwhile those super duper stay gel polishes literally don't last 5 minutes on my bff before it literally just plops off. like her nails reject nail polish like opposite magnets lol
@@emilyb3781 are you by chance allergic to aloe vera?🤔 Unt worked fine, but my nails started itching - turns out there iss aloe ferox in the nail polish, which is a type of aloe Vera Plant.. Luckily it only itched, but dang I can't imagine your pain😫 I have sensitive nails, so when I use picture polish' peel off thing my nails hurt afterward.. So I am, like you, not well aquainted with peel offs😑
omg thank you! Cristine and others will say "it wont last you more than a week/4 days" ... for ME its off by the end of the day, i thought i was the only one! what tends to work best for me is a sticky base coat, regular nail polish, then a get taco after the regular polish dries completely, if not overnight. that usually lasts me about a week, and it wont chip. itll come off one nail completely, so if i find that i can reapply, otherwise ill just take them all off and i get 1 week's worth of wear.
This is the best video ever! You just saved me the purchase of peel-off base coat, because I literally wash my hands at least 10 times a day! CLEARLY, this would not work for me. 😂😂😂 I guess I'll just continue to muddle through with the glitter gel polishes. Thank you sooooo much for this!
I'm diabetic, so I have to keep my hands super-clean at all times. That means I wash my hands dozens of times a day, and I don't have problems with peel off base coat. Sometimes, it comes down to body chemistry as to whether or not the peel off lasts. Sometimes it's from not knowing what base coat needs to make a manicure more durable. I use alcohol on my nails before applying base coat, whether it's peel off or not. A big reason why manicures don't last is because people don't get their nails dry enough before applying base coat or polish. Easy remedy: Alcohol makes a nail super-dry, so a base adheres better. Also: DO NOT touch your nails to see if the base coat is dry. Oils from your finger will make a waste of your base coat. If you absolutely must touch it to see if it's dry, wipe down the nail with more alcohol before applying the next round of polish, to remove your skin oils. I make it a habit to give my base about five minutes to dry before applying polish. That usually does the trick. Sometimes, the way we wash our hands causes manicures to wilt: Too hot of water, soap that's too harsh, keeping hands too long under the water, overly vigorous scrubbing of the nails, using too much hand sanitizer (I know, I know...), drying hands with paper towels--all of these can be murder on a manicure. So a peel-off base coat can work, if you have the right nail chemistry and get into some easy habits that help any manicure last.
Thanks so much for your video, Kelli! That took major dedication having to do all those updates! I wish I had seen your review before purchasing the Peely Base from Holo Taco. My experiences, even when I followed Cristine's advice on how to do a manicure with Peely Base, are that my nail polish popped off within 24 hours after applying it. I don't think I'd even use it for a special occasion because I'd be worried I'd lose a few "peelies" in the middle of the event. However, I can't recommend Cristine's two Holo Taco collections enough. Those polishes are gorgeous!
I'm really interested in this! My experience of peel-offs is one of two results: 1. It pops off within an hour, sometimes when I'm not even touching it 2. I go to peel it off when the mani starts chipping, and it just rips chunks out of my actual nail plates, and won't come off with polish remover I've tried the techniques to make it last longer but to no avail- I have an oily skin chemistry I guess :D Oh and I definitely prefer a wide flat brush for smooth application- even though my nails are teeny and I can sometimes do my index and pinkies in a single stroke with them :D
Success for four days. One thin layer of UNT, a thin layer of Orly nail strengthener, two coats of KB Shimmer Snow Much Fun and then my quick dry top coat. I need to point out that each application had about two hours of drying time before the next round was applied. So Kathleen, what did you do on your day off? My nails.
I’m literally subscribing right now (9:00), because I love how much attention to detail you have when it comes to testing everything as honestly as possible!
Great video!! On another note, your Friday eye make up was FABULOUS!! That blue shadow was stunning! Could you possibly do a tutorial on how you did that?
My peel offs never pop off, I always peel them off myself. 🤣🤣 It usually lasts about 3 - 6 days for me. But I don't use glitter/holo polishes, almost ever (well sometimes, but not a lot), so that might also be a factor. But I use the essence peel off base coat, it is so inexpensive and works so well for me!
Great test! I've had better luck with peel off base coat if I don't paint it all the way to the tip of the nail. It'd be great to see an experiment where you do that. I've used both UNT and Halo Taco peely base and they both last 3 to 4 days on my nails as long as I don't apply all the way to the tip of my nails.
Rebecca for me the glitter off is very hard to peel off. I’m a holosexual so I like the peel porn so I use the UNT. I also redo my nails rlly often so that’s another reason why I like it.
I haven't even gotten close to finishing the video but I just have to say that I'm SO BEYOND HAPPY to finally hear a nail art influencer I know and love say that their peel off base coats don't last very long. I'm the exact same way in that whenever I use one I can rarely get it to last more than a few hours. I've tried looking up why this happens to me so many times and can never find a clear answer or solution I haven't tried before. I always laugh to myself when I read people saying "I can't get my peel off base coat to last more than a week" like MINE WON'T LAST LONGER THAN A DAY! I feel like I'm waaaayyy more excited about this then I should be but I'm just so happy to hear I'm not the only one that struggles with this. Anyway love you Kelli! I've been on a binge of your videos recently so this video was fun to watch!
Haha I feel the same way. I don't understand how people rave about peel off base coats lasting a week on them, I guess it happens but it just DOES NOT work for me at all lol! I'm glad you're enjoying my content :P
Kelli Marissa omg I didn't think you'd respond to me! I'm actually freaking out a little bit ahh! Okay I'll calm down but I seriously love your videos! Calm nail reviews and tutorials that I could watch nonstop for DAYS! Absolutely adore your videos💕💕
U know what's funny while I was reading the comments I was scratching my back and then my nail peely popped off how ironic that was 2 days in I know the struggle
I've been using the UNT basecoat and following the tips that Simply has, I get about 2-3 days out of it. When I'm painting my nails a peel-off basecoat, I plan on repainting my nails in 2 or 3 days. I don't always have time for that, so I don't wear heavy glitters that often. Also, thank you for doing this comparison! I know UNT was Cristine's previous favorite, and I was wondering how her product compared.
Girl your make up looks so good ( I mean it always does but ) that blue eye shadow looks so good and I love the green hair with it also! Super cuteee !!
I can’t answer for her, but I have used Arctic Fox in Phantom green and the color is very close to that. If not exact. It sticks though, a bit too well.
@@boulevardbat2989 be aware, if you're trying green for the first time, a strong green like hers will pretty much never leave your hair. It will massively fade over time of course, but it will remain green tinted at least. I wear a green the same as hers sometimes and my hair is still green from dying it green about a 6 months ago. I dyed purple over the the faded green and now the purple is entirely gone to reveal pale green. On the plus side it does mean green is good for low effort hair colour lol.
Kelli Marissa, I liked your experiment. Using different colors to differentiate each base coat might have introduced a small source of confounding but it could have been only a tiny confounding factor as both shades were manufactured by the same company. The conclusion went straight to the point: use peel off base only for special occasions when it's not meant to last as peely base coats don't last. Thanks a lot for the great review. 💯
If you follow Cristine’s “tips and tricks” peel off base coats work amazingly well... I struggled with loosing peelies in the past, but after avoiding the edges and cuticles, my peely lasted almost a week, AND over an hour in a sauna (with steam and actual washing)... so, it is body chemistry and application...
I’m so glad you did this video. I’ve never been able to get my peel off base coat to last more than a day and I always assumed I was just doing something wrong. Happy to know it’s not just me.
I recommend using a nail prep base, like you can do for gel polishes - to remove excess oils from the nail. It works wonders with my nails and the peely base mani lasts for up to a week!
How do you still have only ~200k subs? Your videos have so much quality and I just love your personality. Love your makeup looks as well! I just think you deserve more.
I've actually been obsessed with that hair color!!!! I love it!!! 💚 Also lovin the eye look! I'm not a huge eyeshadow person but I'm super on love with that look!!!
I was all set to buy this stuff for use with glitters, and I am glad I didn't bother. It sounds more irritating than useful. Thank you for another really helpful video. I heave learned soooo much from you!
I used the Holo taco peely base with her creme polishes and holographic toppers and they started popping off the next day/chipping. I wanted to give up on it but later on tried it with her holographic polishes twice and both times they lasted me the full week (I change my polish weekly). I apply it close to my edges as I would a normal base coat (I just don’t wrap the tips) and then wrap the tips with the nail polish and top coat. The only difference between the first time I tried and a while later is the different polish and my nails grew. I don’t know why it worked better but I’m so glad I have an easy way to remove glitter polishes that last long !
as far as I know, the UNT one has always looked "cloudy", and I bought it new so....in this case, how it looks shouldn't be a factor in How it performs
I've noticed a lot of other people saying the same thing, but not putting the peel off base coat to the edges of your nails helps immensely. I can get it to last a whole week if I'm careful! I make sure that the color and the top coat just barely eeks past the edge of the base coat, so no water gets under. Water dissolves the base coat!
I'm kinda glad I'm not the only one who struggles with peel off base coats...i have the peely base from simply nailogical on order but I don't really exact better results than unt!
amsayyy I also haven’t had luck with more than a few hours. I tried putting it on before a long run thinking I’m not gonna do much with my hands for hours, but I noticed half were gone before I had turned to head back.
Peel-off base coat lasts 2-3 days for me, however, my nails are rough and ridged. Your's look super smooth. Maybe if you gave them a gentle buff the polish would stick, but that's probably too much work! Loved the blue eyeshadow!
Because I travel 5 days a week for work, I wear a thin layer of dip powder over my nails for strength and have found that peel off base lasts a lot longer (like a full 5 days). But when I wear it on my “undipped” nails, 24 hours was about the most wear time I’d get, regardless of the brand. I appreciated your review. UNT and Holo Taco are my 2 favorite peel off base coats and have wondered how the compared. I just don’t have time to do a full comparison! Lol. Thanks for being awesome Kelli!
We learned acrylic, gel, and standard polish manicures in school and with peel off base coats we learned that they do not like smooth surfaces. Obviously buffing your nails often isn't good for them, but a rougher surface would allow for better adhesion. Without buffing, we would tell clients their nails would only be good for a few days
For glitter polishes like that, I like to use peel-off base coat in the middle of the nail only. I'll put a regular base coat on my full nail, then a bit of the peel-off line down the center of my nail. That way, I can get a complete seal around my nail and still have the hold and stay for days/weeks, but then the center of it will come off a lot easier, allowing the nail polish remover to get to your regular base coat a lot easier.
I've had inconsistent results. The first manicure I did I also used Holo Taco Polish on top (the silver coloured polish) and it lasted about a week before I had my first casualty. After that I painted my toe nails with it (since I always have a hard time removing toe nail polish) and it's been holding strong for just shy of a month now with no casualties. Crazy! However, I redid my manicure after the initial run and since then I haven't had a manicure last longer than a day.
Wow a week of wear is awesome for peel off base coat! A month is insane haha. But I guess our feet are exposed to less than our hands. I wonder what changed?
Hi everyone, Kelli I love your videos, so I use Unt for every mani, but what I do is use nailtiques first, then I apply the Unt then my mani, and it lasts for at least a week, well let’s say this, I remove the mani before they come off, I get bored quickly, not to say sometimes one won’t pop off but for the most part, mine last. Then again everyone’s chemistry is different! Keep being real Kelli! ❤️❤️
I have been using both the unt and holo taco peel off base and I have had great experiences with the unt because it lasts a bit longer but e holo taco has a cleaner peel. I have found that if you leave a bit of just nail at the top with the peely bases and let a bit of the polish stick to your natural nail they will last much longer with a couple chips after around a week
I have the opposite problem with peely bases - they never peel off! I have been using OPI Glitter Off, and I've been considering switching brands to see if another one works. I can literally wear the same peely mani for a week straight and still have to remove it with acetone
I always smell my nails as they dry, that's how I know if the polish is dry and ready for the next coat PS I use UNT sometimes, I hate Cristines brush, sorry Cristine if you are reading this, but the brush is terrible
I love her and Holo Taco, but the brushes aren’t to my preference. Not only are they thinner than I like, which is a personal thing and is fine, but I find the bristles, especially on the cremes, are uneven and make it hard to paint neatly near the cuticle.
I got Holo Taco for Christmas. I also hate the brushes. Also, applying the one coat black and scattered holo on top of the peely basecoat made the polish gooey/stringy 🤷🏽♀️
Yeah it bugs me too love the sparkle hate the brush. :p even just a little wider would work but it's so thin. We don't all have dainty Canadian fingers 😄💅
@@kayenjee I have the dark blue, and scattered holo from Holo Taco. The thin brush is'nt so bad on the scattered holo, but the blue is impossible to get a good result just because of the brush. If she eves restocks the flake holo I will get it though, because I have nothing like it. Her glitter polishes with color looks to me like dupes for the glitters from LiveLovePolish
I actually wore Peeley Base with 3 coats of Play Rosé, and two coats of Glossy Taco for 12 days. I do think it’s just technique on how you put it on tho. Plus how you prep your nail before applying the Peeley Base. Either way, love the video! 💗
Thanks Victoria! Sadly I think it has a lot to do with nail chemistry. I have oily nail beds, but I do dehydrate before every manicure. Peel off just doesn't seem to work for me!
I'm glad you did this video. I was thinking about getting the HT Peely to compare it to UNT and now I don't have to! I use UNT pretty often because I like to change colors a few days a week. I prep my nail by wiping with alcohol beforehand, and then do a thin-ish coat of the UNT. I've found that the thicker the base and polish coats are, the faster they peel. I get about 4 to 5 days of wear, but I also have acrylic overlays for strength, so my nails don't bend. I wear gloves when I shower so that I can protect my mani from peeling but also from dye transfer since my hair is a non traditional color.
I'm wearing the Frost Light nail polish for the first time right now! 💙 For me, it helps to wipe my nail with acetone before putting on the peel off base coat. 💜 I rarely use a peel off base coat, especially if I have to go to work the next day. I hardly ever can make it through the next day before all my polish has popped off.
When I use a peel off base it usually stays for a few days I had no clue it comes off so often for other people😂(I use the barrym peel it off base coat btw)
I'm going to try that then!! I get 2 days at most from the UNT base, and I only really use it when I do super complicated (and time consuming 🙃) nail art, which I want to wear for a few days, but also want keep the peelys because I spend so much time on them!!
This was a very welcome video. These peel-off basecoats would seem utterly worthless except for swatching. Thank you! EDIT... I just read all the comments and would recommend to everyone: lots of tips and recommendations. Thanks again, Kelli!
Could you test the holo taco long-lasting base compared to your favorite base?? I'm trying it out and I feel like I got a bad batch, it's behaving almost like a peel-off base. I keep losing my nail polish randomly and it pops right off in one piece!
I did actually laugh a lot at this, proper nail-gate action. 😂😂 you could lose those damn things sitting still with your hands on your head. 🤣 great experiment though. 👍🏻
I use peel-off bases because my nails reject polish in general (and it's not always me anxiously picking at my nails), and peel-offs make sure that I don't damage my nails. I have overlaid with a regular base coats and it lasted a little longer. But with peelies, just putting them back on is pretty cool and makes me feel like I'm putting myself back together :)
I’m happy it’s not just me who can’t get peel off base coats to work. I usually do my nails post shower, so I can get a few days wear out of it, but no where near as well as a regular manicure. (I love your hair color! And the eye make up in the beginning was gorgeous.)
I use UNT, and, with normal use, it usually lasts me about 2-3 days. However... If I use a normal base coat after the peel off, the rest of the polish I apply tends to last a little longer. I don't even use an expensive base coat for this. I grabbed a Wet n Wild base for something like 45 cents, so why not test out peel off + base coat? Result: My manicure lasted longer with the normal base added. Maybe something about normal base coat bonds better with the peel off and the polish above to make it more durable. And, no, I didn't leave a gap with the peel off as Ms Amateur Nail Art mentioned. I simply used a layer of base coat precisely over the peel off. The color polish I used (Wet n Wild Red Red) didn't chip or peel--nothing. It stayed the full 4 days until I changed polish. Note: I hardly ever keep polish more than 4 days. I have to really really really really really like a polish to keep it any longer than that. Call it low boredom threshold. Anyway, peel-off + base coat has worked with other polishes since my initial experiment--OPI, Essie, Sinful Colors, China Glaze, Dior and more. I haven't used another base coat yet, but I'll see if another works when I run out of the cheap stuff.
I found this super interesting. I use the picture polish glitter peel off base and find it lasts with my nails about a week. And I tend to wear a lot of glitters, so it suits me, I use it almost every time even with non-glitters. So interesting to see the difference between people.
I use the holo taco peely base and have really good experience with it. It usually lasts a few days. But thanks for this video, was genuinely curious as to the difference between these two brands
The Holo Taco peely base does about the same thing for me on my fingers, but I particularly love it for pedicures; I can easily wear it for 1-2 weeks, which is about as often as I like to change it up anyway
Thank you so much for making this video!!!!! I thought I was the only one having this problem, or that I was doing something wrong, I’m so glad to know I’m not alone
I have the exact same problem with peely base coats... but glitter removal is MURDER on my nails with regular base coat. The last couple years for glitter polishes I've used Picture Polish Revolution. I don't hear many nail vloggers talking about it, but it's a life-saver for me! It's a water-based base coat that can be used under glitter. When you apply remover, it kind of balls up and slides the glitter off my nail without damaging it. Definitely not as easy to remove as a peel-off, but it lasts just as long as regular base coat for me. Have you ever tried it?
My daughter has the same issue with peel off base coat. We use the Unt peel off base coat. I haven't had good luck with it. I put it on and the part of my nail that is on the nail bed will peel, but the top of my nail, the grown out part will be stuck down like glue. Noticing that your nails kind of remind me of my daughters. She is 20 and I am 51 and we have very different textures of nails. I am guessing it has something to do with texture.
I use both of these peely base coats and usually my mani lasts 2-3 days. A couple of things, I use a dehydrater before I apply the base coat. Once the base coat is completely dry, I apply 2-3 coats of nail color. I’ve been using the super shiny holo taco top coat. I also use a pointed orange stick for cleanup. I’m not super messy so this works great. I wash my hair daily and don’t actually avoid water. If I happen to go to a hockey game, I will usually end up peeling off my mani just because. I also use nail oil daily. And if I randomly lose a nail it’s the pointer or middle finger on my right hand. I also shower in the morning so it’s usually 6-8 hours after I do my mani.
I own 10 bottles of Holo Taco and passed on the peel off base for this exact reason. I like the top coat it’s great. The Holoday collection is terrific. UNT does not work for me, it just pops off for no reason in a couple hours. So after watching your video I’m glad I passed on the Holo Taco peely base since one UNT bottle is more than enough for me! I painted my nails and UNT last week and topped with glitter polish at night before bed, my hands didn’t touch water or do anything. Half my nails were gone the next morning. I would rather just scrub my nails with remover and cotton and have a few days of wear with glitter.
Thanks for sharing your tips!

The initial comment doesn’t make sense. “You don’t want....” l”Then make sure” so what DO we want prior to them making sure it is over lapped.
@@rosekiki It does make sense though, since they are two separate sentences for two separate tips to help a peel off base mani last longer.
Wow, peel offs really do not agree with your nails! Here I was feeling bad about somtimes losing a couple peelies on the 2nd or 3rd day LOL

I love how you alternated the bases because I find that my dominant hand usually tends to have more wear.
Same! I was surprised that my non dominant hand went first!!
I plan on following those tips the next time I use a peel off base.
Jessica Smith they work very well. I followed the tips when using peel off base the first time and my manicure lasted about 4 days before the first one popped off
I don’t have long enough nails for the tips to be very effective. Mine usually last about 16 hours.
I completely agree with you
Me too! Every time!

Meme momo cristine the science queen
I like how you did alternate fingers instead of one hand with each. I think that’s a much more fair way to get accurate representation of the product.
Yeah I definitely felt it was more fair because I use my dominant hand way more often!
I use dehydrator before manicures! It's the same concept.
Sophia Rodriguez I might try this. I have oily skin, so I wouldn’t be surprised if I had oily nails, too
Kelli Marissa Oh ok lol
Kelli Marissa also budding the nails and not putting it on the entire sides of the nails help, I tho k she has a video on how to make it last longer on the holo taco channel
Alcohol will do the same thing, and has the benefit of cutting down on nail yellowing from frequent polishing. Also protects from fungus. I always have alcohol pads lying around because I have to take insulin shots a couple of times a day, but using ye olde drugstore bottle of isopropyl alcohol with a cotton ball will do the job as well.
i kind of love the youtube algorithm when it brings to me to channels like yours! ❤️
I'm happy you found me 😄
I used to have the same experience.
That’s a smart tip for those trying to save money with products they already have !!
What is the name of the video?
Can you tell me the title of that video? I remember her saying you could get 3-5 days but I cant figure out which video gives tips. I have 2 new bottles and I would like to take advantage of them.
@@naomih1073 I've linked it in this thread 🙂
@@heatherr4128 I must be blind, I dont see it.
I think your mistake in this instance was definitely showering after. It would have been better if you let the polish set over night.
Yeah probably would have lasted longer but I do need to shower daily so as soon as I shower I know this will happen regardless :/
@@KelliMarissa shower before doing your nails for a peely base and that way your nails will be free of oils too and should help make it last longer :)
I do the same thing! The peel off at least saves me some time and it’s more satisfying. 😂
Your makeup just leaves me in awe every time.
Haha that’s true, it works as well as any other peel off!!
That's some smart thinking!
I use UNT, I don’t particularly apply it carefully, and my manicure still lasts about 3-4 days. 🤪 it must really come down to nail chemistry.
You lucky duck! I totally agree with the nail chemistry.

Can we have a make up tutorial on that blue eyeshadow look???
When I use a peel off it does the same for me! No matter how careful I am. Removal sucks with glitter but I need it to last!
Yeah haha same. I just prefer to wear glitter for like a week now to get my money's worth before the pain of removal!
Try a normal base coat, then a peel-off just to get the glitter to clump but with the long wear of a normal base coat
omg thank you!
I guess I'll just continue to muddle through with the glitter gel polishes.
Thank you sooooo much for this!
if you apply differently it will last a few days, the tutorial on the Holo Taco youtube channel will help you keep it longer, good luck!
I agree, she's made some lovely polishes! But I want them to last on my nails haha!
I'm really interested in this! My experience of peel-offs is one of two results:
1. It pops off within an hour, sometimes when I'm not even touching it
2. I go to peel it off when the mani starts chipping, and it just rips chunks out of my actual nail plates, and won't come off with polish remover
I've tried the techniques to make it last longer but to no avail- I have an oily skin chemistry I guess :D
Oh and I definitely prefer a wide flat brush for smooth application- even though my nails are teeny and I can sometimes do my index and pinkies in a single stroke with them :D
i dont bring my peely base all the way to the edge so mine lasts for like 5 days. also being careful to wrap the other polish around the edge
I gotta know if it’s just me that can’t keep polish on with a peely base for more than an hour.
👀👀👀👀👀👀
Kelli Marissa not a minute after I typed that, you started to say the same thing. Haha.
Kelli Marissa this was so unfortunate. I knew it was going to end this way when you said it was Friday...and today is only Sunday lol.
same. My nails are too soft and flexible, so it just... flexes off
Kimmy it would be super nice if there was a peel off base that worked. Glitter removal really is a pain! I will stick with the foil/cotton ball trick.
My nails.
Haha omg that’s a day long affair! I’m glad it worked for you though! (I think my nails didn’t even last as long as it took you to apply LOL.)

Wow that's decent wear time!
The OPI Glitter Off base code does miracles for me! In a veeeery long run, it lasts for 7 to 9 days.

Yes, I use this too and it lasts a week for me as well. Haven't tried UNT or HoloTaco

My uhhh ive been wanting to try artic fox bc i heard GREAT things abt them and so. will probs try it asap :))
I used colourista in emerald. It smells nice and it's easy to apply. It's from a squeezy tube. It makes my hair veeery soft too.
Glad you enjoyed it Claudia! I agree with your conclusion totally!
Thanks for the recommendation Kristina!

Oh man you’re one of the lucky ones!!
as far as I know, the UNT one has always looked "cloudy", and I bought it new so....in this case, how it looks shouldn't be a factor in How it performs
I agree, i was just noting differences in the bottles but like I said they performed pretty much exactly the same!
You look so nice. That eyeshadow is poppin
I'm kinda glad I'm not the only one who struggles with peel off base coats...i have the peely base from simply nailogical on order but I don't really exact better results than unt!
It's tough for some of us!
I can never get a peel off to stay on my nails more than a few hours. I feel your pain.
amsayyy I have the same problem, everyone in the comments keep sharing suggestions but I feel like nothing really works for me
HoloTaco channel has a video on keeping your peely base lasting longer that might be worth checking out
amsayyy I also haven’t had luck with more than a few hours.
The peel offs don’t peel off on
me. Strange. I was interested in seeing this. Happy 2020
We are opposites! Mine peel too quick hahah
I’m glad you enjoyed the comparison! I’m glad they work with dip powders a bit better!
My nails polish lasts days with the unt 🤷♀️
Lucky!!
The best peel off base coat I’ve ever used is AngelAriel’s Why need a ring base coat (Amazon 12.99). It lasts for days. You’re welcome! 💜
I'll try it!
Great idea!
Thanks for the recommendation!
Kelli Marissa ❤️❤️
Your eye make up is flawless and epic
Oh gosh thank you so much!!
Please do more eye makeup looks, your looks are my fav on the internet. 😘
Oh gosh thank you so much Sarah! Tutorial on this look coming soon :) :)
Haha that's a smart way to tell! I'm not a huge fan of thin brushes either.
Kelli Marissa no that’s true! I forgot about nail chemistry. Thank you for that. ❤️
I'm so glad you did this video. I don't have a lot of time and I can't take the time to do my manicure and it only last a few hours.
Wow that's awesome wear time! I'm always curious to try peel off base with a gel manicure to see how long it goes for.
this makes me feel better about mine lasting about 2 days on average.
Haha you're lucky!
I'm wearing the Frost Light nail polish for the first time right now! 💙
For me, it helps to wipe my nail with acetone before putting on the peel off base coat. 💜
I rarely use a peel off base coat, especially if I have to go to work the next day. I hardly ever can make it through the next day before all my polish has popped off.
I usually use dehydrator which is basically the same as wiping with acetone! I feel like peel off just doesn't agree with me haha.
When I use a peel off base it usually stays for a few days I had no clue it comes off so often for other people😂(I use the barrym peel it off base coat btw)
Dang you're lucky!!

Oh man that doesn't sound right! I'll def test it out but you should email the brand for sure and ask for a replacement.
I did actually laugh a lot at this, proper nail-gate action. 😂😂 you could lose those damn things sitting still with your hands on your head. 🤣 great experiment though. 👍🏻
Haha exactly!
I am loving your videos. You've gotten me into different nail polishes, thank you!!!
Oh yay :) so glad you enjoy them!!
The peely base lasts me 3 to 4 days
Oh man I wish it lasted that long on me!
Like how? Mine last so long till I don't peel them off. So interesting.
Haha it really depends on your nail chemistry I guess!
I always thought i was doing something wrong when peel off base coat would fall off in a few hours!!!! Glad to know others have that happen.
Mine lasts about a week as long as I dehydrate the nail bed beforehand, but everyone’s nails are different
Your eyeshadow looks really pretty. I know you’ve mentioned not feeling comfortable in blue eye shadow but i love this look!
Oh gosh thank you! I really do love how this look turned out surprisingly haha
I didn't even noticed a difference in the audio, if you didn't say anything I would've never knew!
Yeah I really think it's just based on your body and nail chemistry! I'm one of the unlucky ones haha
I use the holo taco peely base and have really good experience with it. It usually lasts a few days. But thanks for this video, was genuinely curious as to the difference between these two brands
I've been using UNT for a while now and my mani can last for days, longest so far 10 days. Body chemistry plays a role too!
Omg that’s so awesome! You’re lucky haha!
I actually haven't even heard of it haha which is wild cause I love PP! I'll definitely look into it, sounds awesome!!
Haha I feel the same way. It's a great brand, but peel off base in general just doesn't work for me!
