When you're that good any fighter as Rodtang is, it is nice to find an opponent that can give you a worthy fight. That does not cower and stands his ground. Imagine yourself preparing for months for that 1 fight only to discover halfway into round 1 you worked so much harder than your opponent...
The fact rodtang held back past round 2 shows just how high he holds his respect towards opponents. It wasn’t a championship fight so there absolutely was no point in going all the way and beating yibu to a pulp
It's clear that Rodtang switched from damage to scoring points in round 2. It's mindblowing to me that the commentators never even saw or acknowledged that. They thought Yibu was still in the match, while Rodtang was scoring 2 to 1. Rodtang stating after the fight that he fought Kickboxing and not Muay Thai says it all. If Rodtang had continued with power, Yibu would have been damaged badly. Rodtang even has to take some hard hits because of this. Something he didn't have to. I think that is personal growth!

At the end of this game, I was crying because even though Rotdank could injure the opponent more, he played with him in a calm and friendly manner with his opponent so that the time of the game ends and he does not cause more damage to his opponent, and this is one of the characteristics of true wrestlers. Even with his opponent, he wants to hit him and even hits him in the egg, but still Rotdank tolerates him.

You saw correct. Though it wasn't compassion, I think. It was more about switching to scoring points (Kickboxing scoring rules). ;-) But I agree, he could have destroyed Yibu.
