    No words, Pt. D.V. Paluskar had momentarily descended from देवलोक to give us mortals a sneek peek into the higher realms. His voice and art is a matter of deep reflection and inner joy.

      I attended a live consort of Late D. V. Paluskar in fifties. Later on he was a member of the Cultural delegation to China along with Late Hirabai Barodekar & Master Krishnarao Phulambrikar etc.
      A great melodious voice is still remembered by so many people.

    Both Gandharvas descended from the sky to sing for us mortals and show divinity of voice and Naushad ji captured it for posterity. One of the Gandharvas left us too soon.

    Ustad Amir Khan is pretty much the Mt Everest of HCM vocals. And, to give THIS kind of an epic performance infront of the Greatest of All Time confidently says a lot about the young Paluskar.

      He had the sweetest of tonal qualities among vocalists.
      That said, both are Himalayan talents. I would like to think of Ustad Amir Khan as one of the most shining examples of an artist rendering a 'broad-canvas' raag with repose & dignity.
      Extremely high on aesthetics. He placed 'raag-daari' above everything else.

    This is no doubt that this is the mixed recording which hear in LP or in film with some extra taan & some portion of other take

    • @pulakgupta9141
      @pulakgupta9141 Год назад +3

      In the film there is a vilambit part of the singing duel (Tumare Gun Gavo - in slow Tintal), which may have been taken from this track. But the drut khayal (Aj Gawat mero) used in the film - and later released in the LP - is a completely different take. I have compared them minute-by-minute. The vilambit part has not been included in the LP.

      @@pulakgupta9141even the vilambit rendition shared here is very close but not identical to what is in the film. There are minor differences in the timing of the taans and sargams in the drut as well. But by and large the same design. Spellbinding all the same.

      DVP = voice of the angels. As though untouched by worldly things. Whereas Amir Khan had that dignified grandeur - conspicuous parallels to the characters they sang for here.
      Not to be forgotten - thoroughly enjoyed Naushad's "andaaz" as he recounted the story of bringing these two giants together.

    Incredible... but this is not the one that was used in the film... that one had an incredible flourish by Paluskar ji at the end along with sounds of an orchestra hit and breaking of tanpura string. Is this from the original LP ?

    • @pulakgupta9141
      @pulakgupta9141 Год назад +3

      This is a different take which was not used in the film (at least not the drut tintal part), but was released as a 78 RPM disc. The LP featuring other songs from Baiju Bawra was released much later and used a different take that you've mentioned.

      Today, my heart sings with joy,

      Whether defeated or victorious,

      Guard now my pride,
      Today, my heart sings...
      For the sake of love, the lover sings,
      Melodies melt the clouds away.
      May honor prevail in the world,
      Today, my heart sings...
      In the sweet union of seven notes,
      Let magic awaken today.
