Naushad Ali speaks about D V Paluskar & the jugalbandi with Amir Khan in Baiju Bawra
- Movie: Baiju Bawra (1952)
Music: Naushad Ali
Lyrics: Shakeel Badayuni
Raag: Desi / Desi Todi
This recording is from the 78 rpm release & does not have the climactic snap of the taanpura-string that can be heard in the movie version.
No words, Pt. D.V. Paluskar had momentarily descended from देवलोक to give us mortals a sneek peek into the higher realms. His voice and art is a matter of deep reflection and inner joy.
I attended a live consort of Late D. V. Paluskar in fifties. Later on he was a member of the Cultural delegation to China along with Late Hirabai Barodekar & Master Krishnarao Phulambrikar etc.
A great melodious voice is still remembered by so many people.
Right
One of the most precious shares I have ever come across. Some of the legends of our music history giving insights into their life. What more can one ask for?
Thank you for the appreciation. Makes all the efforts worth it. :)
Both Gandharvas descended from the sky to sing for us mortals and show divinity of voice and Naushad ji captured it for posterity. One of the Gandharvas left us too soon.
Dont call shree Amir Khan as gandharva. Some peaceful may come after your neck.
Wahhhh aprateem!!
Kyaa baat hai wahhhh!!
This is a pure music!!
Takleef yehi hoti hai, ab asysaa sunaney miltaa nahi!!
Ab to bass commercial bakwaas sunate hai hum ko!!😢😢😢
You are 100% right.
Pure heavenly bliss.
Mashallah naushad sahab ki urdu ❤ , aur unki mausiki to bohot hi subhanallah, beshaq ya allah unhe jannat ata farmaye ameen summa ameen ❤
Divine. Pt DV Palaskar. So gracious of Naushad sahib.
Both are excellent 👌👍 Mind soothing voice making the soul very happy to listen these two Great classical singers. A Square Chowk at Opera House area of Mumbai is named as Pandit D V Paluskar Chowk as a mark of respect for Pandit ji.
Thanks a lot . Excellent post
That chowk, near Opera House, *Pandit Paluskar Chowk*, is named in honour of Pandit Vishnu Digambar Paluskar (DV Paluskar's father).
Amazing the humility with which this great man speaks.. And respect he had for Panditji who was slightly younger than him!
Completely agree with your views.
Younger off course, but plushkar was older than his age in music terms
So wonderful to hear about those GREAT moments! Wish I was a fly on the wall.
Wow .. breathtaking Jugalbandi
If at all only one film is to ibe named, as an entire creation of India's art, culture and heritage, ii's Baiju Bawra, everyone in the making has created heaven, beyond words...
Panditji's renditions make an indelible mark on mind 🙏🙏
Ustad Amir Khan is pretty much the Mt Everest of HCM vocals. And, to give THIS kind of an epic performance infront of the Greatest of All Time confidently says a lot about the young Paluskar.
Both are superb
But Paluskar sounds more sweet
He died young
So unfortunate
He had the sweetest of tonal qualities among vocalists.
That said, both are Himalayan talents. I would like to think of Ustad Amir Khan as one of the most shining examples of an artist rendering a 'broad-canvas' raag with repose & dignity.
Extremely high on aesthetics. He placed 'raag-daari' above everything else.
I am speechless....!! 🙏🙏
I was counting the गरज़ यह कि. He is repeating it repeatedly
Nice Archisman ji for Noushad ji
God bless you always
With heartiest Best Wishes
Out of this world.!

🙏🌹🙏 great soul
Excellent
Devine
Uttam!
One may note, though, that Pt DVP had sung for a movie before this 1952 venture. IIRC that would the 1945 movie Shapmochan.
@@FarhanAmin1994 Shaapmochan was released in 1955 (& D V Paluskar's Bahar was recorded in 1954).
🙏🙏 🙏🙏
Historically Baiju Bawra was older
Both are legends ..but ustad amir khan sahab awesome
Look at the chaste Urdu of Naushad Sahab!
Indeed. He was, inherently, a refined personality.
No doubt about it.
This is no doubt that this is the mixed recording which hear in LP or in film with some extra taan & some portion of other take
In the film there is a vilambit part of the singing duel (Tumare Gun Gavo - in slow Tintal), which may have been taken from this track. But the drut khayal (Aj Gawat mero) used in the film - and later released in the LP - is a completely different take. I have compared them minute-by-minute. The vilambit part has not been included in the LP.
@@pulakgupta9141 Thank you for your response.
@@pulakgupta9141even the vilambit rendition shared here is very close but not identical to what is in the film. There are minor differences in the timing of the taans and sargams in the drut as well. But by and large the same design. Spellbinding all the same.
Both great artists..DV s voice sounds more sweet..am I correct?
DVP = voice of the angels. As though untouched by worldly things. Whereas Amir Khan had that dignified grandeur - conspicuous parallels to the characters they sang for here.
Not to be forgotten - thoroughly enjoyed Naushad's "andaaz" as he recounted the story of bringing these two giants together.
@@sanjeevramabhadran3612 Thank you for your lovely views about both the artists.
😊
Incredible... but this is not the one that was used in the film... that one had an incredible flourish by Paluskar ji at the end along with sounds of an orchestra hit and breaking of tanpura string. Is this from the original LP ?
This is a different take which was not used in the film (at least not the drut tintal part), but was released as a 78 RPM disc. The LP featuring other songs from Baiju Bawra was released much later and used a different take that you've mentioned.
@@pulakgupta9141 Thank you for your response.
Can someone translate this please?
Which part?
Tumre gun gaaun re bigde bana do kaam humre🙏🙏
Today, my heart sings with joy,
Your melody, divine and pure.
Today, my heart sings...
Whether defeated or victorious,
The singer of life finds his way.
Guard now my pride,
Today, my heart sings...
For the sake of love, the lover sings,
Melodies melt the clouds away.
May honor prevail in the world,
Today, my heart sings...
In the sweet union of seven notes,
Let magic awaken today.
The composer of the universe,
Ignite a fire in the water,
Ignite a fire in the water.
Ah~
Today, my heart sings...
