Creating Abstract Art | Relaxing Watercolor Techniques

- In this tutorial, I explore the calming process of creating organic abstract shapes with watercolor in soothing shades of blue and green. Working in one of my handmade journals on beautiful, textured paper, I leave intentional white space around the shapes to allow for a harmonious composition. Once dry, I come back to add intricate mark-making details that bring the piece to life. These colors always remind me of Florida springs. My friends love the turquoises, but I think the olive greens is fantastic to mix with it. Love this!

Denise, the page today is just gorgeous. I’ve heard other creators or artists say they want the pages to look like sisters, when making pages along side each other, but done at diff times. Your book is filling up nicely and you have so many gorgeous pieces in it!

I really enjoyed today's sketchbook piece. I was nervous when you mentioned the malachite Neocolor 2, but it turned out to fit right in. I thought it was going to be too bright. It is neat to see the same palette used in a totally different way.
