As a tech enthusiast and avid traveler, this was very informative! Both from a consumer and business standpoint. Disruptive technology in any industry takes time to adopt by all stakeholders. As eluded to at the end of the video, the change to NDC is inevitable. It's promising to see the airline travel industry shifting and soon reach the tipping point of majority adoption!
Most airlines have not fine tuned NDC...lot of limitations in it ..specially when it comes schedule changing .. Different airlines have different NDC platforms for us travel agents to learn all these n to keep the passwords in mind is tough. Airlines still use gds based system staff doesn't know about ndc as they are not using.when travel agents calls for help they refer us to their help portals. To tell the truth we travel agents just doesn't have time to go to this extent as clients need fast answers.
Can you also help making informative video on Mid office tool that do qc before any PNR got ticket on GDS. As professional most of the Agency struggling to understand what is Mid office tool, functionality, and how it can be beneficial for agency
The only issue I have is that is OTA have no say in commissions they get by selling airline tickets and deals then why should they adopt NDC and move away from years of work they have done with GDS. They have a working model in place and change is always disruptive. Where is the compelling reason to move? There seems to be a lot of things not to like for an OTA moving to NDC even so the eventuality of moving to that standard is obvious. Till then API driven GDS model trumps NDC..
While OTAs are comfortable with their current systems, they are losing customers because many people avoid booking through OTAs due to the inability to fully use the airline's app. With NDC, passengers can book through OTAs and still manage their bookings directly through airline apps, ensuring they get all the airline benefits. This seamless experience can help OTAs retain customers. Additionally, NDC provides access to lower fares and a full range of airline ancillaries.
Beautiful explanation, thank you. I am wondering about the GDS's. Yes they want to stay in the game and are adopting NDC. But through NDC, they will loose money right ? How will the stay alive in a fully NDC environment ?
Unfortunately, GDSs don't share information on their revenue strategies with us) NDC won't fully replace EDIFACT tomorrow, so they have time to come up with some solutions.
NDC is a way to take away GDS and OTA in the future and offer prices directly. That´s the main idea. If travel players like airlines or hotels were efficient with E-commerce implementation and digital marketing, OTA wouldn´t exist.
Thanks a lot for the quality information. I sincerely admire your efforts to simplify & educate
Brilliant work, guys!

But XML is not flexible.
