I had one of these in a 2016 Challenger SXT, and a 2017 Jeep Wrangler Sport. The Pedal Commander does exactly as they advertise, it adjusts throttle response time with out effecting your warranty. The Challenger V6 is 305 HP, and you get access to that 305HP faster than stock. It's not a novelty item, it does exactly what it is designed to do. Thats it. If you want a tune, thats a whole different calibre of mod and isnt plug-and-play.

I got a scenario for ya. I just put a leveling kit and 275/70r18 tires on my 2010 f150. The changes, in-turn made my truck very laggy. I installed the pedal monster brand on my truck and now I am getting the response I need from my truck. Just as I was before. Indeed I didn’t gain any more power at all. It just brought back that same response I had before. I don’t have to push further to get it going. It feels more responsive. As it should. It does serve a purpose, for me at least, outside of a being a “novelty”. Thanks for the vid and happy truckin!

Yeah and heard that the 5.7s do lag, so they'd work well for them. But would be a waste on an SRT because the throttle response is already quick, and would put the money towards a cam or something if it were me. Although if someone is having issues with response, then I would suggest getting one that we seen recently called the Roar and is about half the cost of the PC. Is priced around $160, and then use code Hemi muscle for $10 off

Drive by wire not only relies on the distance traveled on the pedal but also the rate it’s pressed. You can press the pedal in such a way to never reach wot while completely floored. If you want the least amount sensitively, just stick with stock, although some stock vehicles behave as if their input/output % is pretty high. I personally prefer a more sensitive pedal. And with the pedal max you can achieve 100% throttle at 25% or less pedal depending on the speed of the press and setting. Ideally you would want a system that is 1 to 1, meaning, 10% pedal travel always is 10% throttle, 50% is 50% always, and floored is 100% always. But we are stuck with drive by wire.

@@OverstreetCycles Yes, you can run it on stock vehicles. Plug and unplug anytime vehicle is off, this is super easy. The only real caution ⚠️ is never change settings while touching the gas pedal. Changing throttle settings, changes voltage ⚡ output of accelerator pedal. This will therefore cause pedal position sensors to have dual fluctuations and will give your vehicle codes/ check engine lights and other diagnostic issues. These can be cleared with an OBD2 code reader, but may lead to a ripple effect of sensors being affected.

Very good explanation of how the throttle body opens, but would be better if you explained also the response time. Now the vehicle you’re testing is also a heavy large vehicle, my ram versus my Z very similar but I can still feel the takeoff on the ram but the small car like the Z is extremely noticeable difference. So by the throttle body opening farther with less pedal Will increase reaction time. If you want to go full bore testing You should test how long it takes between stock and the pedal commander to get the body open that far. I’m not saying you’re going to gain a second or two on the 0 to 60 and you’re not going to get anything on the top end at all, but if your vehicle to stock or close to stock it will give you an advantage once you find the mode you can put it to the floor without breaking traction. I have one of these on a 370 Z and a 2021 ram. You can 100% feel the difference between city mode and sport plus mode. My wife will vouch for that 100%. You are 100% correct it does not add any horsepower change shift points or anything else but if you dial it in correctly you can gain a little bit of time especially on your takeoff, will not help your top end at all. And most definitely if you want to show off put in sports plus +4 and you can annihilate the tires. Another thing is mentioning The eco-mode, by putting my ram in the eco-mode in the city gets me about an extra 1 to 2 miles per gallon Which isn’t much, but if you were going on a long trip I get 20-22 mpg. Again good video, not bashing it just commenting on the testing method.

I measured my throttle response in my 07’ frontier. Rolling down the highway at 55mph, if I let off the throttle completely, let my rpms drop to idle, then floor it, it takes between 2.2 and 2.5 seconds for the truck to adjust my throttle and start bringing the rpms up. I thought the throttle body must be dirty so I cleaned it out thoroughly with no change. I’m starting to think the oem tune does this to prevent people from accidentally accelerating harshly in packed traffic, does the pedal commander reduce the time it takes to open the throttle body, or just open it further at the same pedal position? With this device, when you push the pedal, it is almost instantaneous response, so the car is going when you tell it to go and how fast you're telling it to go. Stop thinking from a power perspective, and think of it as efficient. This does exactly as described and if you drive a car with drive by wire (especially a dodge) you will feel instantly what the hype is about. So remember, not more power, more efficient.

Everything you said in this video is correct; one problem though , at no point do they at Pedal Commander say that it will increase horsepower. This product is to improve response time of the pedal. This is not really meant for a 600 to 800 horsepower car or truck, more for the 100 to 300 horsepower vehicle. Works well with your v6 SUVs and the like. If you bought this wanting more horsepower then you did not do your do diligence, and that is on you not them at Pedal Commander. So if you have a car. truck or suv that you fear can't make it a crossed the street fast enough, then this is for you. If you want to shave time off your 1/4 mile, then you need to bite the bullet and get the tune.

All this is....is a tuner that changes the response time of the electronic system. I spent my career as an engineer in the refining industry and we had the same tuning on our Honeywell control systems. We determined how much to open a valve and how fast the valve opened. If you want a valve to open to 50% you tell it to open 50% of range...with the controller, that opening can occur in 1 sec, 1 min, 1 hour, 1 day.....you get what I am trying to say.
I read about these controllers a lot and was on the fence....but ordered a Pedal Commander for my 2022 4Runner and it should be in this week....my only concern and I just saw an ad for the Pedal Monster by Banks Engineering and it looks like Banks has some fail safe measures built it such that loss of signal will default to stock mode, I have not read about any such a safety back up system built into the Pedal Commander. If someone knows about loss of the controller and what it will do, please post here. I have to say, the Banks product looks real interesting.

So basically it tricking people into thinking their truck is responding better when in fact its only doing what they could be do all along and that is push the peddle down farther and faster, correct?
Do you see any advantages to this at all? If it just controls the position of the throttle body what is with all the selections like ECO and sport? Is it all just a scam?

That is correct. Just push the pedal a little farther on your own and save yourself $300.
The various modes just adjust the throttle body more or less. For example, the ECO mode opens your throttle less instead of more.
You may find an advantage when towing. You could feel like you're driving normal while the pedal commander pushes your gass a little more to accommodate for the extra weight. Still...hard to justify $300. At least to me.

This product and similar products are not a replacement to a tune, you don't get more power, and I don't think they advertisse to do that. If you want more hp/tq, then you ned a tune. These products just remove the accelerator lag present in drive by wire vehicles. From my experience it works, mash the gas with this device and you get off the mark way quicker. My experience anyway.

Did you check how quick the throttle response as opposed to how much the throttle response because there is a marked delay from the time you hit your throttle to the point where the car actually moves there seems to be throttle delay that is the Big challenge

Great video , I have a 2013 raptor roush supercharged all stock from the dealer and I was thinking about this product but honestly it's a beast as it is , I think by owning my truck for 5 yrs maybe I just got use to the throttle response and maybe seeking a bit more 🤔

You definitely would be happy with an electronic throttle control you can get one on eBay for 50 bucks guarantee you will be happy with it.. this guy making the video is correct in some way but he doesn't really understand what's going on

There are objective ways to actually measure acceleration. So far, on most videos I've watched where the reviewer is using the onboard 0-60 timer (some vehicles have those) and they average it over multiple runs with and without the device, there is usually a drop in how long it takes to get to 60.
This should make sense because when you're eliminating a delay (such as when the rpm actually hits the target to produce max power) you should have full power sooner (like how electric vehicles have instant torque).
The issue at that point is contact patch grip. Assuming your tires can make use of all the power that's being applied earlier in the launch, the mass of the vehicle should overcome inertia quicker and therefore accelerate quicker.
In my experience the half second less it takes for the ecu to catch up to what i want to do is reflected in getting to 60mph. You can't replicate that with your foot because feet aren't faster than electricity.

If you watched the linked video at the end, I do 0-60 runs with a dragy and compare times with and without the pedal commander.

@@SmoknJaysGarage thank you for pointing out that I didn't communicate effectively.
When I wrote about being faster getting to 60, I was talking about from a roll where you're already moving (such as entering the highway, pulling out from a stop sign and you turned so you wait until you're in the lane to punch the gas, or passing). Yes, I mentioned others using 0-60 timers that were built into their vehicle. I was using those to try to illustrate about registering times, not just pulling out a stopwatch.
As for your 0-60 tests, in my opinion you should do 5 runs without it installed and 5 runs with it installed and see if the average changes, that way the variable of the device is eliminated and you can get a true baseline number.
From what I understand on the topic, the pedal commander is trying to step up voltage in what's a very limited circuit. So, that translates (at least in my vehicle) to my engine, which is a VVT basically treating it like I put a lower grade fuel in when I step on it with a higher level (such as sport+ with +3) and basically making more noise but not actually pushing the car as hard. I don't know enough about your truck to know if that's the case with yours as well. But, if so could help explain part of why you got .3sec or so worse 0-60 times in sport+.
For reference, I have a 2014 ATS 2.0t. It's supposed to take all fuel grades but will reduce valve timing if it gets anything slightly weird to protect the engine. That will reduce power by about 5ish horsepower (in my vehicle per Cadillac).
All in all, cool video, very thorough. After about 2 years of running one, I agree that it's not worth the money even if it's at a $50 discount. In my vehicle at least I can't use the entire range because if I use the upper ends my car tends to throw codes (apparently that has to do with voltage issues based on the fact the PC is trying to draw from a very limited circuit).

The pedal commander just makes your car go faster quicker. That’s literally it. It’s not a turbo upgrade

Lol if your making the throttle response faster, you are making the car faster. If I’m at a light and step on the gas will i move faster off the line with the pedal commander? Or without? I believe I will be quicker off the line with it therefore making me faster with the commander.

This will only increase your throttle position, not the actual speed at which it moves.

Changes your pedal position, it does not make the response faster.

    • @edzback2

@@mkaney805 LOL I understand it will not add any horsepower to my vehicle. My point is it will get me to point B faster than it would take me to get there without it therefore making me faster. Two exact vehicles, 1 with and 1 without both hit the gas at the exact same time and the 1 with will get off the line quicker and make it to point B faster than the 1 without LOL

So this is a total waste of money bc I can push the pedal farther down to get to the speed I want. I thought this was suppose to eliminate the lag time from idle to what ever position you put the throttle at. No wonder when I rode with my friend it felt like he was just floor boarding it every time he took off.
