      The ridge behind Super Glide is the only thing I ski there and I don't think its even a run lol AV is wayyyyy too expensive for what it is (unless youre from Chicago and have more cash and no other ski hill to choose from).

    One of the southern Wisconsin hills I learned on in the early seventies. Great memories.

    Best snow making ever. Highly recommend this place as their food is priced well, runs are maintained good, and plenty of variety with terrain parks. My favorite place to go

    Wow, I'm really surprised at this! I grew up a few miles away and I guess I haven't visited since maybe 94ish, things really have changed for the better. Cheers to AV for investing in themselves!

    I skied there just before Thanksgiving once and they were 80% open when most other areas were barely open if at all. Awesome snow making!

    Funny that you posted this video today. Im actually heading there after work to take advantage of the fresh snow that's coming down. I'm glad I got a season pass for that place this season.

    Warmup was tough this year--been to The Rock 12 times so far based on weather, heading to Alpine this weekend (also where I learned to ski as a wee one in the early 90s)

    Very cool! I don't think I had ever heard of this place being a relative new skier and due to the fact it's not on a major pass. Might be worth on stop when in the area.

    Having detachable lifts are awesome in the midwest. Go to Wilmot on the weekend and the lifts are always stop and go, Alpine doesn't really have that problem because of the detachable.

    You should check out Mt Crescent IA. They recently got a fleet of brand new snow guns and about a foot of powder from the recent storms. They have a 1450ft double with a 230ft vertical and a 1050ft quad with a 160ft vertical. I learned to ski here and the snow, service, and atmosphere has always been great.

    One more thing you need to know about Alpine. They have an ass-backwards rental policy of not allowing the use of your own, brand new, boots with rental skis. I have never heard of any other ski location that does that.

    As a former ski instructor at Alpine Valley in the 70's and early 80's who now lives in Pennsylvania It was good to travel down memory lane with you . Many great memories!. On another note, I noticed (excuse me as being a former ski instructor) your pole plants while skiing moguls was correct but for some reason, when you get on the flat terrain you revert to pole planting on the opposite side. I'm not sure why this is so but I suspect if you exams this video you will notice the change after skiing the moguls. I rewound it several times to make sure. Perhaps something has changed in instructing since my day but figured I would mention it. I suspect if you correct that pole plant timing you may see a change in skiing. Just my thoughts. Please take them with a grain of salt. I do enjoy your videos as many of the ski areas you visit I skied back in the day. Now I spend my days skiing in PA and Colorado. Thanks again!

      I think it's an old force of habit and when I plant out of habit rather than necessity it tends to come out - I'll keep it in mind for next time :)

    when does mogul season start typically

    • @MidwestSkiers
      @MidwestSkiers  7 месяцев назад

      It's likely going to vary from year to year. They first need to build a solid base, and then they can "seed" bumps. It should be in the next couple of weeks, though.
