look at how it comes natural to him to play like that, he just combines armony and melody better than anyone else i’ve ever seen in my entire life, it’s a pleasure for your ears!
Damn, I play his tunes a little bit and sometimes think I am pretty good and all. Then after a few months of not seeing him play but only having played his stuff myself I see this video and others and I forgot that he is just insane, that’s so hard
I never liked this tune, but once he mentioned the price is right it all made sense. I now love it, it's amazing how your perception and opinion of a tune can change when you know what feeling the tune is trying to convey
Lol. Gameshow rag is so typically Tommy. Overly-chorded, so complex and with jazzy improv that you can't remember it! Yet, Cannonball still keeps its simpler structure but he's added in superlative runs which enhance the song to sublime levels.
i reckon he's got the Cannonball rag down with the all mighty travis boom chick, great start for twisting things around, he'sextended traumer in the living rooms for those that play guitar
Im getting there.. Timing is my issue.. But what i was saying is ive got what hes playing though i still cant play it perfectly. Sound quality wise. Gameshow is harder than Cannonball. His tunes are challanging and a hell of alot of fun.
147sinenobe yeah, they are pretty challenging. I mean, one thing is being able to play the notes, another thing entirely is making it sound as good as he does.
The very second this video finished, the video where he teaches you how to play it was suggested and I was like No! No way please no I'm the wrong person for that no way I'm just not that good ok
It's the style of music he's playing. It's called "ragtime." Look up Scott Joplin. He popularized back in the early 1900's. Most of his songs had rag at the end. It's just what composers been doing since then.
Watch his "welcome to berklee" video.. He explains how throughout all the years of playing his style of guitar, it morphed his hands too where he has two completely different thumbs.
italkcrab's got it. And hand size doesn't really matter that much. Technique is more important. Dexterity also comes with training. That even applies to women with smaller hands.
He plays a Maton. It's neck is way thinner than usual, which makes it a lot easier. I own a Maton myself. Pricey, but those guitars are the definition of perfection.
@@john-ic7vg i am from germany and the guitars are made in australia, so i can't tell you. Most models are around 2-3k. Indeed expensive, but worth it!
l like the sound of gameshow rag better than cannon ball, but honestly he's not as smoothe as travis was with the thumb. It was off in places, but still top notch. It wasn't strong boom chuck the bass is off I dunno. The "chuck" is missing he doesn't hit 2 strings on down stroke while finger picking with thumb. Love it but just not as good as travis or buster b jones.

Rare fact about Tommy Emmanuel, he gets paid by the note.
That ending riff made me shout "WOOOOOOOOHHH!!!" This is a gem!! 5 brilliant stars!!
I had the exact same reaction. Couldn't help it.
That’s why ending riffs are so important :D they make you go woooooooo
He plays like his name should be Tommy Phenomenal.
Emmanuel is another name for Jesus so that should about suffice
ending gooood 😊
Some days watching Tommy makes me play for hours on end. Other days it just depresses me lol!!!!! Love ya Tommy!!!!
Nice of him to play the slow version so we can pick along at home
Glad he played this slow version for us ...Haha..lol...!!!
Cheers...!!
Tommy is the only person I can't get mad at for singing his own song while playing it.
I made some little groove harmonies here and there "everywhere"...Lol !
This man's on a totally different plane.. Unbelievable 🎶🎶🎶💯💯❤️❤️
Im trying to keep up with his foot tapping ))
Hilarious...
I ABSOLUTELY love this man and his hands too...

I just throw my guitar to the trash. This man is out of this world.
Just when I think Tommy Emmanuel can't amaze me any further... he does!
Tommy would have played longer but the guitar was out of breath!
yeah but I can play smoke on the water ;)
This is why the best of the best....pay to go see Tommy :)
Awesome
What power!
What feel!
Lol.

and that is why he is Tommy Emmanuel !!
Flipping Brilliant!.

Amazing
Man. He's on another level
How his fingers don't just burst into flame I'll never know.
unbelieveable
i love this song. Took a week just to know i was playing it right.
+147sinenobe You must be pretty good then. Took me a lot longer than that to get the sound right.

Without a doubt!!
Is Tommy a human being? Holy crap! That was ridiculous fast!
Where does he get his coffee?
un worldly!!!
oowee that's a little quick for me
Blazing!
Very good!😋
10 sweat rags out of 10 for this.
HOLY FUCKING SHITBALLS!!!!!
Came here for some influence...Now time to smash my guitars..
The very second this video finished, the video where he teaches you how to play it was suggested and I was like No! No way please no I'm the wrong person for that no way I'm just not that good ok
I think this is how tommy gets high
practise, practise, practise,practise just practise!
Slash could teach this old dude a few tricks.
THAT would be funny enough for me to pay to see it 🤣
Watch jp Cormier play this. It kills it all
madness
I just wanna be like you...
Zartbass well you'd better get to work then.

Yes first!
Definitely should have added him breaking the song down

did he sell his soul?
Keith Anderson Probably...
It's called hard work and dedication
Rusty Shackleford nah, I'm pretty sure he sold his soul.
Dont think so. No fame for this guy. He tours 300 days a year. Thats a man that works for what he got
Yes alright, but can you juggle, Tommy?
he must have big hands, he gets his thumb over the neck so easily
Watch his "welcome to berklee" video.. He explains how throughout all the years of playing his style of guitar, it morphed his hands too where he has two completely different thumbs.

@@fettigeredgar may I ask what the going price is for one of those gems and are they difficult to get in the States?

HAHAHAHA
I'm surprised his fingers aren't smoking.Wow!
