I bought me a 2019 Yamaha R3 ABS Matte Black on March 18th. I had zero experience. Never ridden any motorcycle ever. No dirt bike or nothing. I have put 1000 miles on it already in the last like 10 days. Im hooked. Cant get enough. Bought it used for 3300 on facebook marketplace. Still gotta get my M license. Best purchase Ive ever made. Didnt even have anyone to teach me in person. Thank god for youtube and my fearlessness.
Love that you spelled out your reality as a brand new rider - especially your trepidation and frustration. Lots of us out there had similar beginnings and didn't have someone there to let them know that was totally normal. Experience brings confidence.
I remember when I first started riding about 4 years ago and I hit the highway for the first time to go to the mall and the wind feel made me wanna sell my bike immediately ... funny how at first it’s all scary but then once you get over it it’s the best thing ever.. now I love the highway, good vid 👍
I feel buyer's remorse on a lot of purchases even small sometimes. However, after gettijg my bike. I felt nothing but excitement and happiness. That's when I knew a motorcycle was for me.
Got the same bike delivered to my house about a month ago. Haven’t been able to ride it much, still lot of snow up here in park city Utah. I have about 90 miles on it so far. Had zero experience before getting the bike besides the two days at my MSF course. I have zero regrets with the purchase, it’s been so much fun. When I’m not riding, it’s all I want to do. Can’t wait for some nicer weather. Good video and keep it up!
I'm going to the dealership tomorrow to check out the R3. started learning on a 125cc dirt bike about a year ago and instantly loved it. your videos are awesome, definitely helped me make my decision
It is nice hearing others opinion (event though you don't need it) but sometimes it will just put you down instead of getting good advises, especially if it is already done. But owning your decision and proved that there is good one (maybe better) makes a lot of difference. Good decision in buying, good decision in learning proper riding and good decision in sharing with us (your subscribers). Ride safe
Haha “Parents Just Don’t Understand”. I too started riding last year and grown/learned so much since. I need to make a video like this. Just earned a new subscriber 🤘🏾
Great video. I can't wait to get my R3 & start vlogging my journey as a new rider. I only been one a dirt bike once my brother owns one but it was one of the greatest feeling to ride. Stay safe & thanks for all the encouragement/tips 👊.
My story is similar. I have never ridden anything with two wheels except a mountain bike. Went to a dealership and I bought a brand new 2019 R3 for my first bike in Feb 2020. I brought my truck and rented a trailer to haul it home. This was right as Covid started and my basic riders course was canceled. I practiced a little in my driveway but after a couple weeks and almost dropping it I stopped practicing. I ended up parking it in my garage ever since. I just didn’t want to wreck a brand new bike because I have no idea what I am doing. Wish I would have kept at it like you did. Almost sold it for 4k a few days ago but could not go through with it. I think I am going to follow your advice and just practice fundamentals in a parking lot. If I drop it oh well it’s 3 years old now.
I think i might be okay learning on something like this. I spent sometime in the Philippines learning from Zero experience on a Honda wave 125 of course that was clutchless but u still had to manually shift it. And the traffic was super crazy, no place in the US comes even close to what i experienced dealing with traffic and cars over there, never crashed it once, only had one close call as a driver bumped me slightly in traffic.

I bought this as my second bike i rode a 125 but i live in Ireland where the roads are a lot more difficult to ride on and the weather is a lot worse
