So many guys online that conveniently slide passed this part I appreciate how you explained exactly where it was how to access it and the proper size tool you needed. Thank you very much wish everyone was as thorough as you?
I watched your video which was very helpful and thank you for making it . I don’t have a jack and wasn’t comfortable removing the tire so I attempted it anyway . I did it with a regular opened end 17 mm wrench . It wasn’t easy but doable .
Helpful video. The wrench you mentioned for moving the tensioner is quoted as a 14mm. (see 01:42 in the video). Based on this i purchased a 14mm wrench only to discover while under the car that a 17mm wrench is required. My bad for not stopping the video and zooming in on the wrench to see the 17mm. You might consider correcting this to save future DIY'ers some grief. Also, where is the drop down menu located and how do you access it to see the links (I'm a novice RUclips user)?
If you are on RUclips on your phone there’s a small arrow to the right of the title of video just tap it to bring down the description with the links, on pc I believe the arrow is below the title
Helpful video I think that I might be able to do the job myself maybe. I'm new to this. My husband use to do the macanic and maintenance of the vehicles but with him just becoming a double amputee it's on me now to figure it out. Where can I find a list of everything you used? I have a 2008 Kia spectra ex. This will be my first serpentine belt.
i have a 2014 kia soreto 2.4 i wanted to replace my belt it has 75,000 miles but figured id change the pullys for the hell of it is there just 2 pullys that you can replace
I also have a 2014 sorento whit the same millage 75k I need to remplace the belt and also have the sportage 65k, but I dont know if its the same procedure
@@vosfer7623 yep if its the 2.4 engine it is the same if ya can when you take thw passenger side wheel off n slash guard of make sure to take a picture of how the belt is ran on the pullys i snap a pic with my phone plus you tube is nice it gives ya a great chance of doing it yourself and saving alot of money
Man I have a 2014 Kia Sorento and my serpentine belt jus snapped off… while I was driving I’m currently buying a belt now. But I hate that I’m not a mechanic savy person but jus curious what would a job like this cost!?
What's life expectancy of these belts on normal use? Any replace intervals?I got a Kia given to me has 30,000 low miles but Kia sat up on delaware bay salt water, belt looks kinda glazed n sry? But hard to see it...what's cost for job like this if I buy belt? I'm in South Florida n alot crooks here.. thnx.
is this type of problem occurs to sportage? mine has a squeeking sounds in the morning and after several minutes of running it will now becomes silent, also i try to put a powder in the belt then the annoying sounds completely gone. pls help what is needed to replace. tyvm
Very good! Is this a 2011 Sportage? Thanks! Also, I would start it up for a minute before putting those panels back on, to make sure the belt's on all the pulleys.
For the do it yourselfer buying a specialty tool set for 130$ isn't cost effective. You can buy a single long wrench( if you just want to work on your car) for about 20-50$
@@jessejaviangel If you use a crows foot on the end of it it will.I was looking at it tonight.Looks like i can get it from the top with a breaker and socket Ill let ya know someday.
@@577buttfan perhaps. Another issue I could see arising is getting the right angle to get the breaker bar enough swing to move the tensioner. Like I don't know of the swing is even possible. Let me know that too haha
Why do mechanics forget or don’t replace those clips? I found 5 missing from the engine guard shield on my Camry this week and the stupid thing fell on the road. Couldn’t they buy a bag of generic ones from Amazon, at least try to put something there.
Ahmad Ghosheh The shield underneath is possible but if you hit something they break very easily and just fall off. Such is a parking curve. I can’t speak for other technicians but here at our shop we have a Assortment of clips that we replace and install all the time. Very common for them to be missing or broken.
Because they hate the job. If they are in the USA, is a shit no one have pushed to mechanic to be mechanic. The Clients and his car have no fault of their unhappiness and personal problems.
BEST video on the subject !!!! Came in handy when I replaced the Alt . That tool is sweet and if ya have the money , get it. Otherwise you can use a Fixed bent head 17mm wrench, but other than that - AWESOME video. And just for the record - KIA engineers can go suck a Duck Toe . +1
This aint it, at least not for a 2012 Kia Sportage. I have a 2.4 engine but this aint it sorry..... Very typical and frustrating in RUclips videos. Cars just like computer software programs change. I followed your diagram to the T and its not working and I am using the same belt I took off. What year is this car????? cuz the diagram you show appears to be inaccurate.
You can always use your phone and snap a picture... Or double check you have the MPI motor like the video and not the GDI. You can find diagrams on tons of online forums as well...

It helps a lot , thanks for this watching from Nigeria 🇳🇬
Went to a local Kai dealer they wanted $400 to replace the serpentine on my 2017 Optima EX 2.4. Thanks for this.
Your video helped me get the job done like 20 minutes thanks so much
Thanks for the video would help a whole lot if you added the years or generation into the description
That's a nice tip.. Pulling down the belt a little to determine which is tensioner... Helps non-mechanics like me
Do you have a video on changing the small stretch belt on this same engine?
About to attempt to swap out my mom’s belt. This was so helpful!
Glad the video was helpful. Thank you for watching! Good luck with your mom‘s belt.

would this apply to a sorento 2019 2.4 as well?
Very helpful advice! I had no issues following these instructions
Thank you!
Finally someone made this video 🙂
Hello, what is the measurement of the strap?
Is this the same engine and process as the 2012 kia forte 5 SX trim?
Hey man great video!, do you have a link to the diagram?
Should be the same for a 2013 Sorento 2.4L?

Well I got 120k on mine and it looks good no cracks..2012 check the ribs for cracks where it rides around pulley.
is the same for the 2.7 l engine?

How tight do you tighten the tensioner ?
Tighten it up snug!
It's like a spring it just pops back tight ..
Nice video.
Can this only be done from the bottom?
No but it’ll make your life way easier i always lift my car and take off the tire so i can route the belt and check that they sit well on the pulleys
Why did you take the brake off?
He was probably doing brakes 😲
Pls what is the number of this belt🤔🤔❓
If you click the drop-down menu all the links for the parts and part numbers are there.

jessejaviangel I would agree if you’re only working on your car occasionally you don’t need to buy the set.
Just buy a 3/8 breaker bar
@@577buttfan I tried that. Space is way to tight. A breaker bar won't fit.
