    Good list! It's also worth noting that opening up the air box when installing the JD jet kit will really make the bike come alive (3x3 mod) - Yeah, I know mods aren't the same as accessories, but just throwing that out there. A bike set up for adventure touring also needs case savers, and a USB plug, in my opinion.

    so the S model uses the mikuni bsr36 carb and the E model uses the keihin fcr39 carb. Except! the California E model also uses the mikuni carb, which is important to know when ordering jet kits and carb parts or throttle cables. and the luggage rack will only work for the S model but the green chili adventure gear hardcore rack is a good alternative for the E model.

    I’m considering a dual sport for riding from Alaska to Argentina and back.... do you think the DRZ would be good for that considering all the off-road fun that can be had in central and South America?

    Good video and I love you guys but your web site needs updated. The IMS tank only shows available through 2004 on this bike. The IMS site shows the same tank works through 2016

    All this stuff you must do to make it good is a royal pain in the butt that the MFG should have done. It’s sad that’s why I didn’t buy new bikes. Your much better off buying a good used bike. Thanks 👍🇨🇦

    I am building and ADV bike from the Green DRZ, the KLX400. I have the IMS tank for it as well, would you guys be willing to make me graphics for it? This is my second build in as many years and I have used RM for a ton of parts, you guys rock! I am also trying out the second gen of the battle born gear this year... Looking like the Arkansas 500 is where I'll be testing out the KLX and the gear... Anyways, let me know if we can make something work for some tank graphics for the IMS 4 gallon...

    Do you guys have the DR-Z kickstart kit? Most of your competitors have the kits (all suzuki OEM parts) available. I was putting together an order and was surfing around your site and couldn't find it. The electrical system doesn't have a lot of reserve so putting in the kicker is a nice safety if you've got to get that thing started again after flooding it on it's side. (Been there...done that...sigh...)

      WheeliePete what's the benefit to having kickstart kit? Is it just in case the battery start fails?

      My dr650 had both electric anf kick start.(1991) suzuki later took it away and put on a weenie gas tank. The original had something like a 4 1/2 + (us) gallon tank stock. With the kick start it was a breeze to start. I always thought the electric start was essential when its hot in the desert/fatigue/ or weak battery. So the same for the 400.

    How are these bikes for a short rider?

    • @GrtGads
      @GrtGads 3 года назад

      Not very good for short people. My kids hate it (16-36 years old) but most of them are 5'.7" to 6'. I love it, but I am 6'3" and have long ass chicken legs at nearly 60. The suspension is great at adjustment and as I still like to ride hard (for my age, not like in my teens/20's). I have mine set with a 39" seat with the suspension set like a swayback mare (soft down/moderate rebound) and growing up on everything from DRT to XT500's, I can still be fairly aggressive and ride for 6-12 hours in the dirt without killing my back. I opted out of the 650 as I sometimes take off with friends from Boise to central Oregon on the dirt, and the fuel economy is much better. Also, if you dump a DRZ400 in a snow drift, it's hard enough to pick up, the 650 is a little harder.
