    Hey Gerard,
    A BT50 with DPF issues? I guess we've all seen that!
    Well done on the explanation of the system.
    Good idea with the pressure test with the coolant pressure tester........I reckon I've seen that somewhere else as well 😉
    Unfortunately we are seeing more and more of these issues, due to the design and the fact that most of the time people in the city don't drive the conditions required for a passive regeneration.

      Thanks Max, I think we may see a lot more of these 🤔
      Service intervals getting over looked all too often with frequent short trips have a big influence on these outcomes.
      I think I may have seen it before 😀 and thankfully for me I have a place to redirect a viewer who was unsure of the testing method, he may stop by on your channel as I have linked it below 😀

    Hi Great Video ! - We have a 2020 model 3.2 litre BT50 and I am unable to measure the actual differential pressure across the DPF however I can read the voltage (ForScan lite) - Do you happen to know what the relative voltage readings would be for this DPF as I have had numerous problems with the soot loading levels ( now at 54% and reading approx. 0.7 volts) - problems started after a 75K service with regen-ing every 60 kms from 108% to 37% - have since removed battery terminals and now just sits at 54% @ 0.7 volts (avg) TIA

    Thanks you for your very informative video, i have a Range with a similar issues but no CEL and no codes stored. Doing a live data scan with "ford scan" i have 0 pressure from the exhaust gas differential pressure sensor. I would have thought with 0 pressure it would throw up a code ?

    Great Video Gerald 👍 I tried to clean EFR valve on my Ford with TDCI engine. I didn't know that I have to drain the coolant first to do that and I stopped dismantling after I saw a leak from EGR.
    Then I got engine light on and the fault codes you show us plus P2263.
    I'm guessing the coolant gets in the EGR and clogged with the soot in the way.
    What do you reckon?

    Good video Gerard i use a manometer to measure back pressure in the dpf

      Thanks Ian, did you buy that for automotive applications or was it a tool that you used in other fields? I am always interested in tool purchases for diagnostics and I can't say I know any other techs that have one of those in their toolbox.

    Hi there can you please assist
    My 3.2 ranger drives well on crusing
    But as soon as u pull a small trailer or go up hill and gives some gas it starts chacking and looses power no fault codes
    Or light on dash board

    I would like to ask you a question Gerard. My DP_DPF ( Exhaust Gas Differential Pressure ) on live data is going from error to 0.5 and i have Mazda Cx5 2013. Now what i dont know is this normal ? This is happening when idle around 750rpm the DP_DPF data is never constant always fluctuating and has error as value sometimes. I have also P243C DTC Code DPF Frequent Regen BANK 2 as a general warning light . What do you think might be the issue ? Thanks in advance

    this is the same problem except with the service warning. it appears and disappears but the check engine appearing always and it does not appear in the diagnostic and its 2023 i dont know if they are using the latest diagnostic tools. am no expert about cars but maybe someone can enlighten me? about this problem.

    How do you turn of the red brake light on the dash after doing some maintenance to it?

      That's the power train malfunction lamp. That covers the entire working of the car from engine to transmission.
      Everything that makes the car work.
      Confusing, right?
      Just think of that light as worse than the standard engine light 👍🏻

    I liked, but presure making with this tool go back in exhaust pipe, in head, and go out if exh valve open.

      Thanks for the like Alen,
      I plan on making a full video on DPF DP Sensor testing and the methods that can be used down the road, it's on my never ending list :)
      For now though I would recommend checking out this video from a fellow Technician and RUclipsr, he shows the coolant pressure tester method in a short but great video.

    Dpf's are the worst bandaid solution to an emmissions problem ever for reliability my 3 year old work car is currently at mazda with dpf dramas modern dieslels suck.
