That doesn't mean they are lies any more than the biblical events many also believe to be lies. It takes faith to recognize God's workings among His children here on Earth. Since I'm already classified as a son of perdition for speaking the truth about the church and denying its divine providence, I will also say here that there was absolutely nothing "revealed" to Joseph Smith from an omniscient being. Furthermore, these so-called prophets are men with no more access to special knowledge than lay people are. Their "authority" is self-assumed and self-imposed. And since I've left the church my conscience has surpassed the limits these men have claimed I've had. So glad I can now let my church-free conscience be my guide.

And why would this be the case? Because one can only be a son of perdition if you deny the Son of God with perfect knowledge of who he is. Merely disbelieving in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and claiming Joseph Smith was not a prophet has nothing to do with perdition. That's merely common garden-variety disbelief. There's a lot of that going around. As for claiming that Gordon B. Hinckley had no access to special knowledge, there's nothing special about that claim. And how would you know, anyway? You don't. You just don't believe he had any. You can't prove he didn't have any, any more than I can prove that he had. But I can tell you from personal experience that the special knowledge that you denigrate does exist. I've experienced it a few times myself.
