    It’s time to find out the Truth about Pet Food…
    It’s a little-known fact that Mars makes more pet products than chocolate. This documentary offers unprecedented access to their giant factory in Melton Mowbray which runs 24/7 to keep to their target of 1 million pet food pouches a day. Joe is the perfectionist Quality Manager in charge, desperate to get right the launch of a new cat food targeted at older cats. Meanwhile, just outside Melton, Mars’ 14-acre science research centre employs over 1000 animals and 250 humans… like animal trainer Debbie, who seems to spend most of her time collecting urine and poo samples for scientific trials. If you’re animal-mad, this is the place to work. Staff are encouraged to bring in their pets for the happiness of the work environment. But they do have to abide by the ‘petiquette’ rules and one rebellious Chow-Chow is in danger of being handed his notice.

    hm... why didn't they mention all the aroma and taste altering and enhancing chemicals along with texture holding and preservatives?!!! as well as bone meal etc? they haven't really shown the process. Or else why would animals be getting sick from manufactured cat and dog food?

      There's nothing wrong with bone meal. It's no different than giving your dog a bone. People often add it to their homemade dog food recipes because it's high in calcium and phosphorus.

      I haven't even gotten 1 minute into the video, but unless you get your pet food from an all natural manufacturer that sells raw pet food, those are in everything.
      Stella and Chewy's and Dr.Marty are good examples of all natural pet food, no preservatives, no added fragrances, they include bone in there food which is good for animals (obviously ground down).
      It helps I've worked at both as well.

    Such a huge lie. Of course some company's are worse than others but none of them put only meat in the mix like what's shown here, in fact meat is a very small content of it which is why these foods have poor nutritional value, they left out all the other stuff they put in the mix. Corn, cereals, grinded bones, and meat byproducts and meat waste from other production chains like guts, sinews and stuff like that it's what's really used to make that mix . You'll be lucky if the meat content in that mix reaches even 20%. Most is grinded bones, cereals and corn. It's mostly garbage and filler that dogs don't even digest well that goes into the mix, and don't forget the additives, sugar and whatever else they add in there. That's the truth, and specially big brands like purina, pedigree and such are the worst.
    Do your pets a favor and just give them raw meat. You don't even have to cook it, they will be happy and healthier.

      Unfortunately, we can’t afford to give our dog raw food. It’s expensive and that adds up. I’ve seen those raw food diet dogs on the internet and they eat better than I do. Unfortunately unless your wealthy, a butcher by trade or just prioritize your dog than raw food isn’t that much of a doable thing

    • @atlas79-om1hn
      @atlas79-om1hn 8 месяцев назад

      It is worse then you think. Meat used in dog food production contains phenobarbital (euthanasia drug). Did you know, that rendering euthanized animals in dog food production is legal?... Minerals like calcium carbonate, phosphate, etc...) are added . They aren't dissolvable, and deposit in soft tissue causing disorders like; bladder/kidney stones, cataracts and cancer. Added steroids will affect heart, and phenobarbital will cause liver failure. These days pets are sicker then ever. Commercial dog food and treats, vaccinations, mutilation s/n) are major cause of diseases among our pets.

    Been in catering myself ain't NO WAY smooshing up meat and high temp cooking, cutting into cubs is going to preserve it in bags that last months at a time.
    You need a buttload of preservative to do that.

    • @Cazzakstania
      @Cazzakstania 5 месяцев назад

      You use heat treatment after sealing the bags, which sterilises the contents. I can’t see anything on a Whiskas ingredient dec that alludes to the addition of preservatives (though regs in the UK do allow for vague declarations on pet food)

    • @rustyhowe3907
      @rustyhowe3907 5 месяцев назад

      @@Cazzakstania Sure heat treatment and dehydration are two ways to extend the life of a food source (including meat) but check out on the tins how long the food will last for.

      A lot... They have research centers 1: 22, meaning they experiment on dogs how fast formulation makes them ill ( develop stones, cataracts, cancer) They collaborate with veterinary bs. Calcium carbonate, phosphate and other added minerals do not dissolve but store in soft tissue causing disorders; stones, cataracts, arterial blockage, cancer.... Laboratory dogs suffer their entire lives being testing specimen.... After stone removal surgery they'll sell you a different food, acidic one ( corn and other GMO toxic grains). So, now you'll exchange stones for cancer. The idea is for you to keep coming back and spend money. Your pet is not important.

      I have just stared my 8 week old weimaraner puppy on a raw diet after researching different pet foods. When I picked him up the breeder gave me a bag of dried kibble which she had been feeding him. I tried him with it but he just didn't seem interested at all. He wouldn't finish a full meal, always leaving most of the dried food. After putting him on raw he absolutely loves it. Licks the bowl clean.

    This man offers nothing but lies. Rendering is done to what is otherwise a useless product. That means it is only done to very low quality ingredients.
    When meat is being rendered it is bekng heated to 220 degrees , which takes away the nutrition value.
    Later, vitamins are added because the rendering process depleted the meat from any that it origianlly had.
    Dog food manufacturers who use rendered meat are making to cost, so the vitamins added are low quality...you get what you pay for!
    They also didnt show all the bulking agents they use, such as bone meal...which there is not evidence to show this has any nutritional value. Its basically bones made into powder.
    He also avoids talking about preservatives and food colouring, which are also unhealthy for dogs.
    And just to add more food for thought...the meat they use is not just meat that was deemed unfit for human consumption, but also the remains of shelter animals who have been put to sleep. Sounds out landiah right. Yep, thats the dog food industry for you.
