Yup. One night I was too afraid to go to bed, in case a ghost was waiting for me to turn out the light, well after watching an episode of File of the Fantastic
@@KnowYoutheDukeofArgyll1841 Thanks Joe. Have you managed to see your niece Vienna, recently? Sometimes I was too frightened to watch it in the morning, as it was still dark. Every episode scared me, those eerie illustrations and sparse electronica soundtrack. I wonder if Vince Clark/Yazoo was responsible for the F.O.T.F. music too? Here......you’ll like these: ruclips.net/video/MoFwXvDEy2Q/видео.html Lots of love little brother. Rico. P.S. Cannot wait to see you when I get back from Titan.
@@zacetto Vienna? She's doing well. Wish she'd give up the Gruddamned tea drinking, though. Those Brit Cit's gave her some bad habits. @@KnowYoutheDukeofArgyll1841 Stomm! Caligula? Time to take The Long Walk. My cybernetics will help with this HellTrek. I’ll also opt for the additional Colt 309 blaster.
1984 seemed hardcore back in the day, an advert for Relax by Frankie Goes to Hollywood as if to say 'Stick it up the Beeb' and a TV-AM announcer saying 'Will you give up the weed'? Perhaps Data Run was supposed to be aimed toward the teens as well as younger kids, which must have been hard to try and entertain both at the same time. Still, it's interesting to see what TV was like just before I was born. :)
Well I was 10 at the time, and let me tell you, the BBC "banning" Relax was the biggest gift to the 10 or so Independent Local Radio stations that launched around the same time. They were also available on FM (or VHF as the parents referred to it), which would take Radio 1 another 8 years. I could barely hear terrible Medium Wave Radio 1 where I grew up anyway.
@@David315842 Yes, I understand that. I was simply pointing out the ramifications for the BBC that their “ban” had with respect to other Independent media in the UK. As you correctly pointed out, the advert for Relax was a laugh at the BBC’s expense, and I provided another example. Mike Read of course, has had a fabulous career in commercial radio.
I remember this on Saturday morning's presenter Lulu's young sister
So happy it’s not just me that remembers this show ❤
40 years later when i'm visiting me mother she still shouts "captain, breakfast"
Wish it had ‘File Of The Fantastic’ slot in this episode. Used to scare me *hitless.

@@circattle My point of my comment above was about the content aired, not about commercial radio.

@@circattle I see. Sorry for the confusion. :)
And yet, RUclips still Identified a few tracks heard in this!
The 80s were so weird. R1 bans Relax on taste and decency grounds. Yet here within a programme for younger viewers, there’s an ad for the record!
Yeah, but this isn't the BBC. This is the heathen commercial channel.
The BBC banned the innocuous 'Relax', but Savile was allowed to roam free 🤷🏻♂️
@@standenberg of course, and anyone who called Savile's crimes out would be immediately censored from broadcast.
0:05 That Theme Tune Sounds Like Postman Pat
The presenter is the sister of lulu. 😉👍
There's a bloke here
That was great 😂
within six months it would be axed and replaced with a live programme Wide awake.
no wonder: bloody boring even for 1984!
Nice use of the animated thumbnail piece here at 40 seconds in!
Edwina Lawrie. Lulu's sister
@0:38 - er, excuse me, WTF ? Wouldn't be able to show that these days :D
I bet those toys featured will be way overpriced on E-bay about now
6:59 Eh?!!
What? Or the Subbuteo footie game or the lad asking about The Gunners winning the FA cup?
