Knowing how much I love reggae! (rwal name is Mattie). I'm,so glad he did too! I'd written a long comment...It got dumped when someone phoned me...ugh...so perhaps you'd of understood me more. You have NO IDEA HOW MUCH YOUR AFFECTED ME! 😊👍👏Your music awoke me from a horrible abyss...from 1st & foremost..a car accident I had in 1970's....ITS an inoperable back issue. I live in pain 24/7 but I'm a Strong💪 cookie! I'd have to be, to have emotional survived all I've endured of losing so many I have LOVED SO DEEPLY. Anyways sad as it is, I lost also my High school sweetheart; my husband, my love of my life too that I married 2 weeks after I turned 18; September 2nd, 1973...then upon our return from our Honeymoon 2 1/2 weeks after we'd returned home...I started my High School Senior Year, in the 12 grade...only to be surprised the Navy had orders for my husband to return to Viet Nam/Subic Bay...the end of Viet Nam War...but the uprising in Iran/Iraq had also gotten VERY BAD. I can say this now; but back THEN; we weren't allowed to say a word...PLUS WE WEREN'T EVEN TOLD WHERE THEY WERE! A warning "Family Gram" was sent out to ALL family etc that we'd NOT hear from our loved ones for at least 90 days, as they were headed on a mission. That's all it said from the Admiral...period!! It mention his Aircraft Carrier; the U.S.S. Oriskany was going to be gone for 8 1/2 months. We were told to continue writing letters; for ALL would eventually be sent when the time was ok. SO MANY FIANCE'S, WIVES ETC LEFT/DIVORCED these poor guys! IT WAS SOOOO HORRIBLE & SO SAD!!! Our Christmas 2 foot, fully decorated, battery operated tree we'd done dir our hubbie's division with his older brother's & my husband's 2 big Xmas stockings we'd made DID MAKE IT TO RHEIR AIR CRAFT CARRIER CUZ WE'D GOT ALL MAILED BY THE FAMILY GRAMS SHIPPING XMAS DATE. 👍👏😊 My sister-in-law who was now pregnant & losing her mind...so HER husband got OUT on a hardship that January! Their baby girl was born Feb 23...talk about getting him home in the nick of time?!! (Whew!); anyhow; we'd made our guys 2 big Xmas stockings & filled filled them with those teensey whiskey bottles, & full of candy, then made his division, ALL little red felt stockings on her sewing machine; with cotton on the rims. We filled them with candies, & 3 alcohol suckers each. Lol. We took Polaroid sexy pictures of each other in Mrs. Santa Outfits...the underwear types...with black boots to her k ees I wore black shiny stiletto high 👠 👠 lol
HER tummy was so,pregnant so we put a wreath over it all decorated. We send mini other pictures first them too. But they couldn't show the other guys! Lol! Keep in mind...these were our husband's! ALL was okay! Sadly their marriage dissolved after 10 years. Today I'm close to my Sis for life. Neither re-married. Vwey sad! They need to be BACK w/each other! We both met each other at our high school. She had been dating my husband's brother 4 years longer than I. She was such inspiration for me. The 70 era was WAY different era we lived in. The 1970's were full of love, L💞VE, LOVE, LO💘E BACK THEN! We felt lonely & lost without one another. There were no internet, no cells phones etc back then
We'd drive around town in his Impala, my hand in his hand, my head upon his shoulder as he drove...SOOOOO in love listening to music (DONT LAUGH➡ON 8 TRACKS & the car's stereo radio in his car...and finally a cassette player he got. We both got a cassette player, & we'd send 💘LOVE LETTERS💌💌💌💘to each other & these love songs we'd recorded from the 8 tracks or the radio or vinyls/records better known as licorice pizza's back then. Lol. Music was our refuge, way of communicating...it helped us fall asleep in each other's arms...without being near to one another physically...We could imagine WHEN WE WERE together through these music selections we'd chosen for one another...reliving our time we'd been together when we'd hear these songs; our favorites...
Songs we loved; Leon Russell ("Lady Blue" & " A song for you"); Seals & Crofts ("Diamond Girl"); Lots of Beatles & MCCarthy, ABBA, Neal Young & Crosby Still a Nash & Canned Heat ("Going up the Country" & "I'm on the road again"); 3-dog night(Soooo many of their songs such as: "Mama Told me not to come"; "Up in the Country"; "Eli's Coming"; "one is the loneliest number"...their songs are endless!); Jackson 5 ... He'd squeeze my hand tight when THAT song hit...while we drove all around town in that Impala car. (LOL!!!!)= Jackson 5: ("I'll be there"); Carpenters; a song played at our Sept. 2nd 1973 Wedding➡(THIS SONG TOO WAS OUR SONG! LOL!!! ("We've only just begun);⬅ Bob Dylan ("Lay Lady Lay")= we had a CA King size bed with a Brass Foot board & Head board brass bed...it was a good song...Eddie Holman ("Hey there Lonely Girl")= he changed my world...no more was I a lonely girl..& Johnny Nash➡ ("I can see clearly now"); ⬅was OUR SONG! ; Moody blues ("Nights in White Satin"); lots more but 4 we LOVED on a variety songs on a 8-TRACK my husband had we enjoyed listening to some much were: Emerson Lake & Palmer : ("FROM THE BEGINNING"); LOBO ("I LOVE YOU TO WANT ME"); LEON RUSSELL ("LADY BLUE"...oh! I think I already said that one? THEM WERE KISSING SONGS too!
Speed forward our life, we had one baby, a sweet little girl, now age 44, with 2 precious grandkids, a boy & a girl.
Sadly my high school sweetheart, my 💘 LOVE 💘 of my life passed away on our 39th Wedding Anniversary, September 2nd, 2012 (1973)...to stage 4 Colon Cancer, that spread to his liver etc. It was VERY SAD & REMAINS THE WORST DAY OF MY LIFE & THE BEST... FOR HE WILL NOT HAVE TO SUFFER ONE MORE DAY TO THIS HORRIFIC DISEASE! I AM 65 NOW, SAD YES, BUT I GATHER MUCH JOY FOR ALL THE WONDERFUL THINGS HE TAUGHT ME IN MY LIFE & MY SWEET FAMILY HE LEFT WILL CONTINUE TO GROW, BRING MORE OF "US" SOMEDAY AS OUR DNA IN THESE KIDS FLOURISH & GROW. I SEE SO MUCH OF MY HUSBAND IN ALL 3 OF THEM! HE STARTED TO REALLY ENJOY REGGAE BEFORE HE PASSED AWAY!PERHAPS HE'S DANCING WITH THE ANGEL MR. MARLEY HIMSELF! YO 'MON...DON'T LAUGH!
