This man- He is what I want to be. You can't say he's the best outdoorsman out there. But he is true to what he loves. True to his family, us, and the outdoors. You won't meet a more genuine person. I swear
Absolutely. If I had the opportunity to do this I would at the drop of a hat. Life goals. This is type of hunting is much tougher than sitting in a tree waiting for a 20yrd shot on a high fence buck lol
What a wonderful video experience. I'm disabled and can't do this. Your amazing narrated video provides a fantastic second hand experience. Thanks so much.
LOL. Right. Day 1. Kneel down in a massive cow pie and get covered in it. Day 2. Produce a coffee and oatmeal pie but forgot the wipes. Yep this hunting trip is going just dandy.👍🏻👍🏻😂😂
@American Psycho well im no nutritionist but I do hunt and over the years of getting up early to hunt ive learned to not drink coffee and not eat oatmeal. Last thing you wanna do is climb down out of a stand and take a dump 45 mins after getting there. All that does is ruin your spot. and lets face it using the bathroom in the woods while hunting just sucks period doesnt matter how or when
I’ve hunted up there in Unit 48. What a great video! Awesome! I felt like I was up there with you. Couple things; the wallow.....it’s gold....get back there and hunt near it. In the morning before sunrise get above the elk. The morning thermals will always bring the wind up in the am. Hunt down. When your on them, throw an occasional cow call and bugle! Bugle again.....and try bugling! I am so enjoying watching this....I wish I was there to offer help! Keep these awesome videos coming! Wow
Inspiring! I was radiated on heavily while serving in the navy and contracted a lung disease. They removed a large portion of my left lung so things like this aren’t as easy for me anymore. It’s been a year and a half and I’m trying to find motivation to push myself back to where I use to be.
FYI. I’m from Montana and have bow hunting elk my whole life. Old burns are a great place to find elk since there is so much feed for them there. Always a good place to start and concentrate on as long as there isn’t a lot of pressure. Don’t push your luck if the wind isn’t right. Good luck
My Father past away from altitude sickness in Lake Tahoe. He was driving a truck and fifth wheel trailer, the spare tire came off and he stopped to get it. A person was watching from their home, he had to go into a meadow off the road, it had snowed the day before. He got the tire and had to push it throw the snow and up a hill to the road. The guy in the house, said he looked like he stopped and sat down to rest against a tree. That was it, he over did it in the high altitude. We live here in Sacramento, it is 50 above sea level, so it is important to get your body ajusted to the higher altitudes. Thanks for sharing your videos with us.
It's awesome you're out there solo your first time! "Protip" you should always stop next to a tree and never in the open, remember you're chasing one bull with a herd of eyes. Cant wait for the next episode!
Actually just got home from 9 days of hunting elk in western Washington for the first time. It was defiantly a awesome trip and lots of memories were made. Colorado is on my list now. Cant wait to get in some open country where isn't just thick reprod and aways being soaking wet after every hunt. Keep up the quality content!!
Love ur hunting videos lake.........be careful be safe good luck............ looking forward to seeing more videos..........and u droppin a big elk..... keep hunting never stop.......peace
Honestly man SOOO jealous of you and Rob. I'm originally from Colorado and me and my dad have been bow hunting for 5 years down in Southern Colorado for Elk and literally have not heard ONE bugle the whole time. Hopefully you and Rob get something!!!
Glad to see your getting the opportunity to elk hunt!! Good for you!! I hope you get one. As an avid elk hunter my only thought as I watch your videos is that you don't realize in those canyons how much your voice carries when you don't whisper. I've heard other hunters talking from across canyons not realizing how loud they were. I can assure you that at 350 yards away, talking that loud those elk can hear you!! Good luck
I gotta say this was exciting. I do not hunt at all, I'm just an addicted angler but I've really been enjoying this adventure as someone who loves camping, adventuring and the outdoors.
I still remember the first time seeing an Elk, it was epic! I was 10yrs old and was home with my sister and it decided to have a lay down in my back yard. I lived in Kelowna B.C. at the time.
Congrats on seeing your first elk and there was a ton of them, literally and figuratively. If only it was rifle season when you saw that big 6x6 in that opening at 350 yards. Glad that you are learning and enjoying this experience. Being from West Virginia I haven't been out there elk hunting either, but my Dad, my youngest brother and I will be in Idaho. They have mule deer/black bear tags, sadly I couldn't afford one and will be tagging along, hopefully doing some fishing and upland game hunting. Helping them out too. Good luck and God Bless!
Great job gettin on those Elk LFG!! Cant wait to see how your season unfolds!! Hope Rob, Outlaw and the man, the myth, the Mullet are also into the Critters!! Good Luck & Stay Safe!
I hunted elk in Colorado several times years ago. (many, many years) Your video brings back a lot of good memories. If I wasn't so old and disabled I might just try it again. If I had one of those track chairs I believe I might make it. Anyway, find a seep or small creek and try to find a wallow. Set up watching the wind just like your whitetail hunting. Good Luck.
Seeing and hearing elk bugle the second and third and fourth etc. is awesome. It never gets old. I've hunted them many times and havent got one yet. You would think that would make me want to quit but I've never had so much fun failing in my life. If I got 10 more tags in my life and didnt fill one I'm certain I'd still love it. Ive hunted in Az mostly and Co. and in both states I was in the elk but when I have a bull tag all I get a chance on is cows. Then when I've got a cow tag I get close to the bulls. I had a huge 6x6 walk by at 10yds and never knew I was there and in my pocket was a cow tag. I drew twice with no arrow just to see if I could and still he never knew. I havent had a bad elk hunt ever. Theyve all been great. Maybe some day I'll get one. Maybe not but either way I know it will be fun.
I recently bought a bow and hope to get out hunting eventually. So I’ve been watching a bunch of bow hunting videos lately ( live in Midwest so it will be whitetail for me) and low and behold it’s LFG going bow hunting! I’ve watched a ton of your fishing videos; it’s really cool to see you’re hunting and doing well ! God bless!
I plan on going on an elk bow hunt in the next several years. I heard on a podcast earlier mid day is a great time to call bulls away from the herd when cows are bedded down. Good luck man!
Justin, I told Rob this...you two are my favorite sportsmanship channels. Throwing a few brewskis back with you guys would be a a blast. Why are so many trees dead? Some kind of boater beetle?
I would be happy just exploring up there. I would also pack a small fly rod and see if any trout live in those high altitude streams. Maybe you can go back next summer before hunting season and do a deep in the mountains trout expedition. Better yet, head for either the Wind River Range or the High Sierras and stalk some Golden Trout.
Great job your different experiences are paying off. A lot of people just go 100 yards out and never see nothing. You gotta get out there and cover ground!
Thats a stud bull. Last winter was hard on the animals here in Colorado. Because of that there wasn't as much feed as usual. Thats why his back end was weak. If we had a normal winter he would be a huge true 6x6. Looked like he had good mass and was pretty wide!
You spook a heard they will leave the area also walking around near a wallow and where they feed leaves your scent which can also spook them. Best to hunt below them in the morning and above when it gets warm. I shot a 6x6 at 20 yards. It was cold and he was on a trail just above me.
Your hunting content and editing is on point, LFG. You're all alone filming and hunting, and the footage and content is twice the quality of another YT channel I'm following on an elk hunt.
I've been really digging these recent videos. Always wanted to do something similar, go out on a solo backpacking/hiking trip, even if only for a weekend or so. Of course where I live it isn't nearly as beautiful scenery, but would still be fun.
An elk hunt like that is a dream of a life time ,it is an absolutely awesome adventure..... and good luck would love to see that nice 6x6 laying on the ground!
A tip from a fellow elk hunter you need to call. Ur just going to keep spooking them. I’d recommend practicing all of season with a Phelps game reed and elk bugle tube. Even a cow call or elk bugle with built in reef would work but you have to call your not gonna have near as much luck if you don’t a elk call
Such beautiful country and amazing animals. September is my favorite time up there by far. No crowds and the aspens are fixing to turn. Thanks for sharing the journey.👍🏻
Enjoy your videos remember if you get one down try to get lunkers headed to you because you’re going to have to quarter it up to get it out and maybe get you an elk call while you’re headed up the mountain ! Give a couple of bugles with that call and you can locate them you’ll know which direction to go . Good luck my friend I wish I were with you ... 👍🤠🦌❤️
Week around Halloween I'm in Idaho. GREAT CONTENT, and yes I heard the elk! Get your hight camp set and get into that area before day break. They will come! Did that on my last trip but no bulls. Saw the same herd come through. Big cow had on a tracking collar. Wall slow, no way to walk quiet in that dead fall! Good luck brother!!
They are up high this time of year especially this year how hot it's been and being up high helps with the nats they drive the elk crazy this time of year. That's why I hunt the big wallows they go to them and roll around multiple times a day to help with the bugs and nats.
Holy cow that was a trophy bull with a bow on public land lfg. That's about as good as it gets with a bow on public land! I hope you get that one it will make Rob's look like a baby! Lol 😂
Elk hunting in the Rocky mountains is a dream of mine. There is elk in my state of Arkansas but you they only have a limited number of slots for hunts on public land.

One tip for you is don’t be afraid to make noise hiking around. Elk are big noisy creatures. So break sticks and roll rocks and just make cow sounds while you’re doing it and they won’t get as spooked. Act quiet like a predator and they get nervous, be noisy like an elk and they won’t. Elk hunting is a lot different than deer hunting that way. Also don’t be afraid to do lots of calling both cow sounds and bugling. Often times if you make all those noises together they will actually come to you to check you out instead of you having to chase them down. Congrats on hearing your first bugle too! It is quite addicting and fun elk hunting
Cant wait for the Next video absolutely lovin the series! You Are having such a good time in Colorado amazing dude 👍 I wish you the very best luck in gering one of these Elk hopefully the bull elk maaan
Too late in the season for sqeeters usually none at night gets cold at that altitude very cold low 20s at night highs in 60-50 degree range maybe 40ish when sun goes down you feel it
I live in kentucky but i wanna move to Colorado so bad. My sister used to live out there and would send me pics all the time, it is a beautiful state. Most of all it is an outdoorsmans dream lol.
If you have to Justin hire a local outfitter or just someone with horse's to get your meat out, but kinda get in touch with them now and have them basically prevy to where your at, so once you connect on that elk you can get them on the way, it'll be money well spent!!!!

Amen brother👍👍
Agree
@Cameron Zirbel 💯👊🎣 🏆🔥
Absolutely. If I had the opportunity to do this I would at the drop of a hat. Life goals. This is type of hunting is much tougher than sitting in a tree waiting for a 20yrd shot on a high fence buck lol
Elk hunting is a dream of mine, for now I live through LFG
It dont cost much unless you need hunting supplies also
Leroy The-Savage where do you hunt for it to not cost too much ?
It’s more the time but also the equipment
Ha ya it all depends on where u live to if your an out of state hunter it will cost u a lot on top of fuel and everything else it's not exactly cheap
Josh Walker that’s what I was thinking too.
I can't wait to see you try to get one of those puppies back down the mountain!
No kidding, I have passed up shots because of where they were, pack outs can be brutal
It's his first one and hes solo, hes gungho. I would be too!
Haven't yall watched him new zealand? Now that woulda been a hell of a pack off the mountain lol.
Dude the sound of that propane going through a coleman stove brings back SO MANY memories for me.
Nothing better than hunting in Colorado. Born and raised in this great state. Great content
What a wonderful video experience. I'm disabled and can't do this. Your amazing narrated video provides a fantastic second hand experience. Thanks so much.
coffee and oatmeal before you head out? hope you bringing the wipes out with you sounds like a disaster waiting to happen
LOL. Right. Day 1. Kneel down in a massive cow pie and get covered in it. Day 2. Produce a coffee and oatmeal pie but forgot the wipes. Yep this hunting trip is going just dandy.👍🏻👍🏻😂😂
levels out with the mountian house that gotta plug ur ass up
Will79 that's why he's leaving after the first day
@American Psycho well im no nutritionist but I do hunt and over the years of getting up early to hunt ive learned to not drink coffee and not eat oatmeal. Your videos are great. Absolutely beautiful country. Great watching you see elk for the first time. Way to just get out and get after it.

I fell out from watching the channel for awhile but this series has reminded me why I loved the channel so much. Well done my guy!
I still remember the first time seeing an Elk, it was epic! I was 10yrs old and was home with my sister and it decided to have a lay down in my back yard. I lived in Kelowna B.C. at the time.

I'm not a hunter so I had no idea this was going to be such an awesome video. I just became an even bigger fan of Colorado.

Showcasing the greatness of huge public land is amazing!!! Thanks
LFG: I’m just gonna day hunt today
Me: well night hunting is usually frowned upon

Hell yeah man! We have some great Elk hunting here! Glad you marked some!
Of course the first elk you see is a giant with his herd. Amazing, can’t wait to see the rest unfold

100% outdoor greatness
Wow my heart was pounding right along with you. Whoo exciting
They are up high this time of year especially this year how hot it's been and being up high helps with the nats they drive the elk crazy this time of year. That's why I hunt the big wallows they go to them and roll around multiple times a day to help with the bugs and nats.
WOW!!!..... MAN!! YOU... WERE RIGHT THERE!!!... HOLE COW!!! GOD BLESS.....
Terrific editing LFG! I was literally on the edge of my chair watching this! God bless you and the family
Get it lfg! Stoked to see you in my home state!
Holy cow that was a trophy bull with a bow on public land lfg. That's about as good as it gets with a bow on public land! I hope you get that one it will make Rob's look like a baby! Lol 😂
Elk hunting in the Rocky mountains is a dream of mine. There is elk in my state of Arkansas but you they only have a limited number of slots for hunts on public land.
so very cool justin what an experience
Looks so awesome! Glad you found some so quickly
Fantastic video! Can’t wait to see what’s next!!
You know at first I was a bit unsure of you going off on this hunting route in your videos. I must say though, I am impressed. I think that people are really connecting with who I considered a City Boy before. I think it is refreshing to see someone learning and giving it your all. You are obviously new to much of this, but you really are getting it down well. As good as Lunkers for sure. ;-)
From Sydney, Australia 🇦🇺 loved this camping trip been binge watching all weekend 🙏🏻
This series has been amazing. Almost like survirorman! Cant wait to see more
I’m pumped!!
Awesome... I can feel your excitement
Wait till you hear them bugling at sunrise it will put a chill up your spine! God there's nothing like it.🦅🇺🇸🦅

Wow amazing video. Felt the rush just by watching this. Beautiful outdoors!! Such a dream!! 😱😱😱🔥🔥🔥🔥
If you have to Justin hire a local outfitter or just someone with horse's to get your meat out, but kinda get in touch with them now and have them basically prevy to where your at, so once you connect on that elk you can get them on the way, it'll be money well spent!!!!
