A smaller lower budget crew had more brilliant visuals, sound and creativity packed into this movie than a multi million dollar franchise could ever dream of.
That's what happened when you put talent and passion in the same place.
When soul-less studio execs are not there to forcefully fit a movie into the mold of what worked before to rake in cash
Storytelling is king. Visual effects are just crutches.
If only those multi million dollar franchise did the same with that budget, the possibilities.
@Jdjdjd Ridid I think I was not clear. So I am going to clarify. I did not mean words. I meant storytelling. As for the visual stuff, I meant effects. One could spend millions of dollars on visual effects and still not tell a good story. This movie had 5 movie visual effects guys compared to hundreds in a Marvel movie. With only 5 visual effects, they were able to give justice to the movie, thanks to great storytelling. Not words but great storytelling.
I love how the aspect ratio changes for each frame. It really adds to the fact that they're completely separate universes, both narratively and cinematically.

The changing of the aspect ratios can only be fully enjoyed by true film nerds. There was 4x3, flat, anamorphic and even the 2.00:1 internet ratio. I loved this film!

This immediately became one of my top 5 movies of all time. It's one of those films that's so good that it's hard to describe exactly *why* it's good... it just is. 15/10

I am from Russia. When I was watching this movie, I literally thought "yeeeaaaaah... EVERYONE is going to dislike it". Well. I wasn't too far away from the truth. I was scrolling through comments, and they are filled with "GARBAGE", "0/10", "WHY THE SCORE IS SO HIGH". I am sorry, but people are dumb. Shortminded. Homophobic (because MC's daughter dates a girl a lot of people lost their shit about it). Hateful. And few other words. Show them something SLIGHTLY different than your average Hollywood movie, and they're gonna hate it. It's so funny to read "I don't want to be TAUGHT MORALS by some movie!" followed by "this movie makes no sense, what a waste of time!". It's one thing or another, one of you is wrong. Or maybe you both are.
Maybe we as society degraded. Maybe if Truman Show, Pulp Fiction or Shawshank Redemption were shown today, people said the same? I just... I seriously at lost, I have REGULAR taste, I watch everything that looks interesting, but people, they just whine about anything! No arguments, no taste, no joy at all. Just negativity. I am not saying it's flawless masterpiece 11/10 sold my firstborn for it, but it's a great kino and everyone can find something to enjoy here.

I can't believe they made a awesome scifi film with only 25 million dollars. Hiring Michelle Yeoh and Jamie Lee Curtis might already cost millions and then all the budgets for so many actors and COVID fees. We should absolutely support indie films that are so amazingly executed!
Actually this movie was filmed between January to early March 2020, they wrapped right before the Covid outbreak, don't know if they had to go through reshoots

Just saw this at the theater yesterday on a whim. When I showed the employee my ticket he looked at me and said this is the best film I’ve seen in the last 5 years. He was not wrong. This was an astounding masterpiece of cinema.

The background at 0:50 is a location in my hometown (the West Pier in Brighton), and though no-one spotted it here, it came up for half a second later in the movie. When that happened, some people were turning to each, maybe wondering if every version of the movie is personalised. I guess there's one universe where Evelyn is a local.
Watched this movie with my girlfriend in Brighton and saw the pier in the scene with her daughter and we both looked at each other. We also had the exact same conversation about whether it was personalised for each major city.

I've heard of a movie _Clue_ being shown with different endings in different theaters (though you could see all three on home video).

The “All at Once” is portrayed beautifully. I’m used to movies like X-men Days Future Past, and The Butterfly Effect, where there are two timelines, future and past, in the same universe. This movie is multiple timelines, in multiple universes, happening simultaneously.

When I saw this movie in theaters I was amazed at how many issues and topics they hit so well in one go. It makes it so easy for just anyone to relate to. After the movie my friend and I spend the whole credits and ride home talking about literally everything. Crazy how instantly this film stuck with me and probably will for a long time especially when feeling stressed with the world around us.

i watched this movie in theaters four times in one week and then it took me a whole month before i even got the motivation to watch another movie again

I like spicy cheetos but I also like USDA Prime dry aged ribeye steak with a side of garlic butter and caviar. That's the difference between Strange 2 and Everything Everywhere All at Once.
Man, I bet this montage was such a pain in the ass to make. Photoshopping all those slides, possibly photo shooting for at least some of them, but I bet seeing the scene in its entirety up on the big screen at the premiere was a very proud moment for the editing crew.
In 1:10 the numbers 12 and 14 are dominant because it is when the first EEAAO teaser was released and its on December 14th.
I was fortunate enough to watch it on the big screen all by myself (not many people go to this particular theater). I was free to laugh, talk, cry and basically feel everything until I left my seat changed and fulfilled xD
Seeing it with others made it even more special. When 50 people are dead quiet for minutes at a time looking at quiet rocks.. except for the soft laughter, and my sobbing with joy. I will never forget this film.
I just watched this movie with my mom last week, we laughed and cried. I came out understanding her and her actions much more. This is definitely one the the best films ever made.
I saw this for the first time yesterday; my family had gone to see the new Top Gun, but I really wasn't feeling it and as this was on at the same time, I got a ticket for this instead. Every single moment of this film was absolutely worth it, and over 24 hours later it's still wedged right into my brain in the best way possible. The care and attention taken in making it was evident even before I got to see videos like this, and this only makes it better
Have you watched Top Gun though? Movie's so good. I mean, not as artsy or as ambitious as this but it hits all the right notes. I love them both.
@@clint5406 Not yet. Someday soon I'll give it a go, but I wasn't really much of a fan of the first one so I'm in no rush. (To be fair though, that could be because it was on a lot when I was growing up - both my parents used to be pilots - and I grew rather sick of it over the years!)

I cried during at least 7 scenes (over several viewings), always hardest at Jobu describing the bagel for the first time, and when Waymond says to be kind. But not at rock scene. Funny how even among those of us that were moved by this movie we are still all unique in how it moves us.
I was distracted by the straight line (probably a road or town) to right of center in the distance when they said this was a world where life hadn't developed. Oh, yeah? Look over there!

How long it must've taken to finish this movie. Each single shot requires sets, lighting, costuming, photo editing and video editing. It's insane!

I think Everything Everywhere and RRR are the two most amazing movies of the past few years, both celebrating different aspects of cinema in their own way and excelling at it. Truly a great year for movies given so many other gems are there to compete with them like Top Gun, Ambulance, Drive my Car and Multiverse of Madness. But those two stand out like love letters to the power of movies.

RRR(Rise Roar Revolt) is mad action bruh. Beautiful cinematography and kickass heroes fighting for freedom in the most visually stylistic way possible while carrying each other on their shoulder and doing a danceoff against racism.
